Part 1 Chapter 10 Blue Sky

Blue wide ray penetrates the walls, destroying them, the lands below it, and everything in it’s direction including part of the runway but missing the planes. The blue ray continued and grew exponentially without stopping destroying lands and objects alike. It was seen from every corner in Long Riddler city. And those who didn’t see it felt it. The earth is shaking. The blast blasted away most of the ramenets of the old world.

The people in planes in the sky stared at the strange blue ray that formed and engulfed everything. They were calm unlike the people in the planes parked in the airport. Panic and terror spread as the earth shook. The people inside the planes felt it stronger.

All these oscillations triggered the alarms over at the control room in the new earth. The control room overlooking the final migration and detaching the new earth from the old earth.

Chaos. Graphs on the monitors show abnormalities. Alarms go off. Emergency signs and sirens.

Everyone is confused and throwing theories in the air. Is it an earthquake? Is the earth turning abnormally which could compromise the already attached new earth.

“Emergency take off. Detach the new earth.” A manager in the control room said

“But the final migration isn’t over.” said a control room operator

“The new earth will be over. Take off now!”

Chaos ensued in the new earth control room but it wasn’t as major as the chaos at the old earth’s airport.

Airplanes started taking off unregarding their turn. No one in the control tower could contain the mayhem.

When the shaking subdued a little, the flames took over. The storage area around the airport is up in blue flames. Engulfing the airport and some of the flames were creeping inside the runway.

A second shaking began, a stronger one. It was the new earth detaching. The ground is shaking due to the new earth detaching. People fall. Suitcases slide away.

The last of the new earth guards and the airport employees, or what’s left of them, race to ride in their designated planes.

All airplanes are taking off at the same time. Two airplanes bump into each other falling and exploding. Alina’s family plane and the planes that had the abandoned childrens, has managed to get away.

Over at the Penthouse on the 10th floor of the presidential palace. Where William Wade’s parents are staying.

Sarah, with a worried and scared look, looks out the window. No planes are left. All planes are in the sky. Items are falling. The shaking increases. Gregory the father wondered What's the meaning of this.

  And then quiet.

The planes are levitating above the old earth waiting for the signal from the new earth to land which is taking longer due to the sudden detachment.

And in a few minutes the new world was detached and away from the dark old planet. The thousands at the airplane observing the blast not knowing what is waiting for them on the other side.

The detached new earth, which is a thousand times bigger than the old earth, has a hole where the old earth was nestled.

With millions in the new world looking at the old world which looks dark and ruined as they part away.

Two years later the new earth has settled a little far away from the old earth. Construction is going on the last hole where the old earth used to be.

The new earth was everything the five abandoned children wished for. Peace and greenery everywhere. The five boys are sitting in a park.

A big park with trees as far as the eyes can see. Kids are playing.

On a small hill, Jeremy is laying on the ground with Charles and Zack. Derek and Rudy walk towards them.

  "Anything?" Said Jeremy with eagerness

"Nothing, they found nothing" said Rudy about Mona and Drake continuously searching for Alina and Lilliana. "Mona is not mad at you" added Rudy

"I know I just can't look her in the eyes. It pains me to see her" said Jeremy

"...Jeremy" said Zack before being interrupted

"No! They can't be dead" said Jeremy

"Lots of airplanes that day crushed and fell" said Zack

"Lilliana was with you and she also disappeared upon arriving. Alina could be too. They might be held somewhere or they got their memory erased…but… I'll continue to look for them, for Alina."

Zack looks down at the fake grass knowing that they'll never see them. They got sacrificed to be in this utopia. Zack did everything for himself and the abandoned children to escape the orphanage cage and Joseph's clutch. But was it all worth it?

They look up to a beautiful blue sky with white clouds.

Charles, lying on the ground, covers his head with his hat.

Rudy pulls the rubber of a wooden slingshot and aims at the sky, throwing pebbles.

Jeremy looks at the sky before getting up to leave without saying a word. As the sky darkened and twilight appeared, people are having fun and walking around when a sound is heard through the speakers,

"Attention. Day 34 of the year 22 has concluded. Please return to your places. Thank you."

-and everyone stops and starts moving back like robots

And in a second, the sound of a click.

The twilight sky abruptly turns off to reveal a metal case above.

The new planet is metal and cold and covered with a projectile that shows a blue sky in the morning and is removed at night revealing the strange world they live in now. No more earth’s blue sky.

Zack questions everyday whether the new earth was worth all the sacrifice and the horrible thing he did to Alina. But the metal sky at night answers his question.

The metal sky, reminiscent of the cage they fled from.

He now knows he left one cage and fled into another. A smaller one. A bird cage for the dogs.

He wondered if they could escape this prison? And if they will always be caged?
