Chapter 1 We Will Never Be Apart
"Xiaolan, no matter who comes to adopt me, I'll take you with me! We'll never be apart!"
A six-year-old girl said solemnly.
Across from her was a lovely little girl with pigtails, blinking her big eyes, "Really? Yiyi, you won't abandon me, will you?"
"Of course!" Chu Yiyang pulled her little hand, "Because we are good friends!"
Xiaolan nodded vigorously, "Yiyuan, I want to be your best friend for life!"
"Then let's exchange gifts!" she said, and ran into the courtyard to pick a wildflower, "Here, this is for you!"
Xiaolan likes it so much, "So beautiful!"
"What about you? What do you want to give me?"
She was taken aback, "I..."
Chu Yiy saw the jade pendant hanging from her neck and pulled it off, "You can just give me this."
Xiaolan's small face scrunched up, "That is... it was left to me by... my mom..."
"Oh no, why are you being so stingy? Didn't we say we'd be good friends? You can't even bear to give a gift!"
"No," Xiaolan hastily tried to explain, but Chuyi Yiyi stuffed the jade pendant into her hand and turned away in a huff, "Forget it, I don't want it!"
Seeing her getting angry, Xiaolan bit her lip, thought for a while, walked over, pulled her, "Then... I'll send you off."
Chu Yiy finally smiled and hung the jade pendant around her neck, proudly saying, "Now it's mine! It's all mine!"
Xia Lan forced a smile and said, "Mm, she's yours."
*……*
The Dean's office, Dean Yang flipped through a stack of documents and handed them over, "These are the children who were admitted to the hospital during that time period. Take a look."
Across from him was an old man in his sixties, with sunken cheeks and a stern look. He only glanced at them briefly before raising his eyes, "I don't need to see these, I want to meet those children."
The dean nodded hastily, "Alright, I'll go arrange it now."
In the small garden, five or six children stood in a row.
Chu Yiyiy whispered to Xiaolan, "Someone must be coming to adopt us. Xiaolan, you have to behave well!"
"Hmm!"
Dean Yang took the old man to the front of the children, he walked over, carefully looking at each one. Finally, he stopped in front of Xiaolan, slowly narrowing his eyes. Xiaolan looked curiously at this grandfather, feeling that his gaze was a bit scary.
Seeing him staring at Xiaolan, Chu Yiyi wrinkled her small brow, turned her small eyes, and immediately blocked Xiaolan's body, smiling, "Grandpa, hello, my name is Yiyi, I'm six years old."
An Congbo glanced at Yiyang's body, and suddenly he widened his eyes, his gaze falling on the jade pendant on her chest. He grabbed it and asked urgently, "Whose jade pendant is this?"
Just as Xia Lan was about to speak, Chu Yiyiy suddenly said loudly, "This jade pendant is mine!" After that, she also glared at Xia Lan.
Xia Lan bit her lip and lowered her head. Yiyi was the only person who had befriended her since she arrived here, and had been very kind to her. She didn't want to be seen as a petty ghost who gave someone something and then asked for it back, nor did she want Yiyi to get angry with her.
An Songbo grasped the jade pendant, reluctant to let go. Finally, he calmed down and turned around, saying a few words to Dean Yang before walking out.
"Director Yang walked over with a smile, 'Yi Yi, come with me for a moment.'"
"Alright, Dean."
Xiaolan sat in the garden waiting and waiting, but no matter how long she waited, Yiyi still didn't come out. Then someone said, "Yiyi has been adopted!"
Xia Lan suddenly froze, then she rushed out of the gate.
"Xiaolan, where are you going?" The teacher yelled from behind.
She ran to the door just in time to see Yiyi get into a luxurious black sedan, the car door slamming shut behind her as it drove away immediately.
She chased after her without thinking, shouting desperately behind her, "Yiyi! Yiyi!"
An Songbo turned his head and looked at the little girl chasing after him, "Is she your friend?"
Chu Yiyi lowered her body, her eyes fell on the window outside, and her small face had a coldness that didn't match her actual age. "No."
"Ouch!" Xiaolan fell to the ground, her palms and knees all scraped, but she didn't have time to feel the pain, got up and continued to chase, but the car was already getting farther and farther away.
She stood in the middle of the road, staring at the direction where the car had long disappeared, her hands rubbing her eyes wildly, "Yiyi... wu... don't leave me behind, you said we would never be apart... Yiyi..."
