Chapter 1: The Way of Job Hunting (2)
Xu Wei decided to rely on his own strength to find a job. So he went to participate in the corporate recruitment fair and learned a lot from it.
This is a large-scale recruitment fair jointly organized by the Hailin Municipal Government and Hailin University, claiming that more than 150 units participated and over 3,000 job vacancies were offered. Almost all students who are about to graduate or have already graduated in Hailin City participated, even attracting a large number of job seekers from surrounding cities with great enthusiasm.
It was early winter, with a biting wind, but the harsh environment only fueled the enthusiasm of job seekers. Before 7:00 am, a large number of job seekers began queuing up at the entrance of the stadium and crowded until 8:30 before officially entering the venue.
Xu Wei arrived relatively late, thus avoiding the pain of queuing. After entering the venue, he was shocked to see a standard-sized stadium packed to the brim with people, creating a deafening roar that would make even the bravest souls tremble with fear. As he found himself in the midst of this chaos, Xu Wei felt as though he had been shrunk down several sizes by some sort of witchcraft. He aimlessly wandered around the venue for a while before noticing that a certain company's booth was surrounded by multiple layers of people. Economists believe that due to insufficient information, people often extract information from observing the behavior of those around them, resulting in herding behavior, also known as the "sheep effect". Despite knowing that this "sheep effect" is a behavior of the ignorant, Xu Wei couldn't help but follow the crowd and join in on the excitement.
With great difficulty, I squeezed into the crowd and saw a large banner that read "Dare to challenge 100,000 yuan annual salary, priority..." at first glance. The banner was signed by Hailing Tianrun Environmental Service Company. Under the banner, a man who looked like a manager held a microphone and introduced himself: "Hello everyone, I am Li, the business manager of Tianrun Environmental Service Company." After a slight pause, Manager Li continued to say, "Our company is the largest septic tank cleaning company in Hailing City. The salesmen we recruit are all professional talents. The main job is to contact units that need septic tank cleaning and sell our company's septic tank cleaning services. The annual salary is 100,000 yuan, with high-level white-collar treatment... However, in order to familiarize ourselves with the business, all of our salesmen must personally try the septic tank cleaning work."
Manager Li's embellishment was like the foundation on a female celebrity's face, having an effect of turning rotten things into magic. The stinky profession suddenly became fragrant and attractive. At that moment, the surrounding crowd was buzzing with discussions. Xu Wei couldn't understand the connection between the sewage treatment business and university students, nor could he comprehend how one could make 100,000 yuan a year from it. He said to his friends beside him: "Only fools would go apply for this job." Unexpectedly, his voice was too loud, like a shotgun, not only hitting the target but also affecting the surrounding area. Many people who were about to line up to submit their resumes heard this and turned around to stare at Xu Wei, their eyes piercing, as if wanting to see through him. Xu Wei then realized that this place was dangerous and it wasn't suitable to stay for long, so he quickly escaped.
Leaving the toilet cleaning worker recruitment area, Xu Wei soon discovered another more lively booth. The recruiting unit was a large entertainment group company in the provincial city, with a wide range of recruitment positions, from foot washing workers, cleaners, and receptionists to administrative assistants and general manager assistants. The requirements were simple: 1. College degree or above. 2. Must start from grassroots positions such as foot washing and massage.
Xu Wei thought that washing his feet was better than shoveling dung, and since he had to choose between two evils, he might as well try it out. As he waited in line, a cameraman suddenly jumped out of the crowd and began scanning the people with his lens. Everyone turned their faces away to protect their right to their own image. Xu Wei happened to be standing right in front of the camera, with nowhere to hide, feeling like he was being given a close-up shot without even getting paid for it, and he felt miserable. The photographer scanned the crowd for a while, figuring that they had "died" enough, and slowly moved his lens away. A female reporter appeared just in time to rescue them and seized the opportunity to interview someone.
Xu Wei approached, seeing the reporter come over and thinking he was going to be interviewed, got nervous and started sweating profusely, with a stupid expression like those in domestic idol dramas. The reporter obviously didn't watch domestic idol dramas, ignored Xu Wei, and locked his target on a refined-looking male student next to him.
