Chapter 30: Back To Business

The day was nice, but it was about time for it to end.

I had Dungeons to loot for city building funds, land to clear, the whole lot. I had things to do.

Tyler and I were standing at the exit for the long ass ride Xyke and Fraya went on, waiting for them to come out. We had done some rides but they weren't all that interesting. Especially since I could fly through a planets atmosphere like a jet.

"They they are Young Master." Tyler pointed out one of the couples in the crowd leaving the ride. All couples.

Most couples seemed to have really enjoyed the ride, but there were some that looked exhausted or sad. Hard to tell with all the different species. Xyke and Fraya noticed us too, so we just waited for them to meet us.

"You guys have fun?" I asked the two of them when they got close enough.

"Yep!" Fraya beamed down at me and Xyke seemed too embarrassed to speak up.

Oh well, whatever happens in the tunnel stays in the tunnel.

"I think it's about time for us to go home. I need to check on my drones, make sure the place isn't up in flames." As I spoke I remembered something.

I had completely forgotten about having the Sally's examine the items in my reality tear. I would need to do that since I didn't want to feed Jimmy some random item that was tainted in some way.

"Great. Tyler, can I teleport us out of here or do we need to use the designated spot?" I turned to him, and he looked at me quizzically.

"Do you mean to teleport to somewhere on the station? Back to your ship?" He asked and I shook my head.

"No, we teleported here straight from home." I always liked the shock on peoples faces when they doubt my power, only to be proven wrong.

"Well... I suppose you wouldn't have to worry about getting caught if you were using it to leave the station. I doubt anyone would be able to follow you." He offered, rubbing his chin.

"True. Alright, let's go home." I opened an entry Gate, a little black hole forming in front of us.

"Bye Tyler! Thanks for guiding us!" Fraya said as she dragged her new, boyfriend? Mate? Whatever the rules were, I didn't care. As she dragged Xyke through the portal.

I waved at Tyler, smirking at his expression, and walked through the Gate.

We were back at HQ, the same place we left from. Inside Fraya's office.

"Thanks for taking us with you, Az. It was a nice break." Fraya said and Xyke continued to be quiet. He was very focused on his girlfriend.

'Man, I'm the best wingman ever. Though it's not like it's hard when the "target" does all the work for you.' I mused as I used another Gate to get back to my ship.

"Alright, now that that's over. John Johnson. That is your name." I said, pulling the tiny android toy out of my suit pocket.

It looked up at me, sitting on my hand. I had no idea what I was going to do with this guy. I thought about it for a bit, but decided to just store him in my pocket again. Now I needed to speak to the Sally Squad, see what they got for me.

"Sally-1, what has your team got for me today?" I asked and noticed how they weren't doing anything at all.

Getting the report from the drone on wheels told me why.

"Just give me a list that combines all of the Stat bonus equipment while keeping the others separate, please." I asked and the list drastically shrunk from it's insane 20+ items.

"Thank you. Bring me all of the Stat bonus items." I ordered and another Sally brought the skin sack to me.

"Jimmy, this bag and everything in it you can eat." I told Jimmy as I took the bag, rearranging my wording from the last couple of times so I don't say 'eat' first. I don't want Jimmy to eat one of the Sally's after all.

The skin bag simply vanished as it melted into my hands, but the rings, amulets, and bracelets took a little longer to be dissolved. I had forgotten to check what the Stats were going to increase, but that worry went away when Jimmy got my attention.

  'What? Where? The Stat points?'

"...Intelligence?" I probed and the message went away.

If you spot this tale on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.

Checking my Status told me the numbers did in fact go into Int.

That sure was a big number. Too bad I didn't feel any smarter.

'Is this Stat a dud for me? I definitely don't feel any different, and I can certainly do math quicker, but I can't really think up new inventions on the fly...'

As I thought about it, a thought struck me.

"I have to learn a field to be genius in it, don't I?" I asked out loud.

"Yep. Congratulations~! You're the smartest, and only, electrician on this planet!" Jerald chimed in, sensing the question was for him.

"AAArrgghhh... That sounds like so much WWOOOORRKKK!" I grumbled.

Sure, I had worked my ass off to become an astronaut and I did become one. Barely. I got lucky because they needed "menial" workers for the station. In truth, I sucked at math and science when compared to those nerds I had to contend with. I didn't care though, because I had done it. I had achieved my dream of becoming an astronaut. Now I had the brain power to contend or even surpass them, but where the hell am I supposed to learn this shit now?

Increasing my Int Stat technically made me smarter, by increasing my ability to learn. It did not make my brain suddenly remember all that crap that was shoved into it in college and training. If I was going to really use my Int to it's fullest, I had to go back to school. It only took my Int Stat reaching the 900's to realize that.

"I'm so fucking stupid." I muttered to myself, hands on my hips as I looked down at the ground.

'Alright, no more Stat points into Int until I can actually use it.' Which would mean I would have to go to college. Again. I sighed dramatically.

"At least it'll be easier now..." I mumbled as I thought about it.

It might not be any easier. Human college? Yeah that would be a breeze now, but alien college? They could be talking about quantum physics in fucking kindergarten for all I knew.

I shook my head. 'It doesn't matter right now. If I want to be a genius, I'll learn a field.' I had other things to do and I couldn't mope about my dumb ass all day.

"Alright science team, I got a new project for you. I need you to examine these and tell me if they have anything different about them. Jimmy, the excess Energy you need to eat." I ordered as I tore open the veil.

I grabbed some of the armor and things I had in there, depositing them on a table. The excess Energy levels remained low as Jimmy did as he was told and acted like a sponge, consuming the Energy with greed. I snapped the tear closed and there was 10 items on the center table now.

A fancy looking chest plate, 2 sets of boots, a helmet made of leather, a pair of wearable wings, 2 sets of gauntlets, a strange looking contraption I didn't know I had, a set of leather pauldrons (Armor for your shoulders), and last was a belt. Just a regular looking leather belt. Weird.

Individually there was 15, but I was counting the sets as one, so 10.

The Sally's got right to work and after confirming that there wasn't excess Energy to cause problems, I left to go make a flat area for city building. Teleporting to the site where I ripped the mountain out of the ground, I was met with the familiar ruined landscape.

I considered what I should do. I could cut out a perfectly flat space and dump the left over rocks in the ocean or something, or I could press the rock flat. I rubbed my helmets chin while thinking.

'I could morph the rock into a perfectly flat area first then see if it's too high or low for my liking.'

With something like an idea formed in my head, I set out to put it into action. Using my Telekinesis, I reached out and felt the rock with my mental hands. Tracing the real/not real fingers along the surfaces, looking for purchase. It took a bit but I eventually got a hold of most, if not all, of the rock. My head was starting to feel some strain from the careful effort I had to use, but it wasn't that bad.

When I tried to move the rock, it really fucking hurt though. I wasn't grabbing a mountain with one or two mental hands. No, I was using thousands of little hands and trying to smooth a perfectly flat surface 30 miles in diameter.

"Hngg, okay, no, that's not going to work." I grunted as I stopped tying to move it.

'Who would have thought that creating was much harder than destroying?'

I scoffed as I realized that I could just use my Omni Forge Skill to melt the stone. It would naturally flatten out then cool into a hard surface, ready to be built on. So I reached out again, and instead of grabbing the rock I merely laid the mental hands upon its complexly ruined surface.

I turned up the heat as I put more Energy into the Skill. It didn't take much for the mundane rock to start melting, and just like I planned the rock began to settle into a flat surface. I could feel the magma trying to leak out at the edges, but I used some mental effort to stop it from escaping.

With the rock now molten and malleable, I used my superior senses to make it perfectly flat. I closed my eyes since I didn't need to use them for this, and focused deeply on the surface. Sweat dripped down my temple. It almost brought me out of my focus from the familiar sensation. I hadn't sweat in over a month now, so the single drop was extremely noticeable.

It took 15 minutes of intense focus, but I succeeded. The rock was cooling back into a solid state, having been formed into a perfectly flat circle. Opening my eyes, I looked at the very strange looking platform. It was... odd. Like the worlds largest parking lot. 'It would be a good spot for a Dollar General.'

I chuckled to myself, but it wasn't wrong. I would likely have hundreds of stores in the city. Many for cheap items.

There was some spots along the outer edges of the circle where the rock was rough, since the mountain wasn't a perfect circle, but that would be okay. I could make it into a highway or something. Or put the wall on it. It would be hidden in some way.

Using my HUD, I opened an app and measured the circle. It was exactly 30 miles in diameter. I had aimed for it, but it was a bit lucky if I was being honest. The app also told me that it was in fact a perfect circle. No deviations at all. It did look weirdly nice from up high. Just a perfect circle on a wild planet.

I floated down to it's exact center, with the help of the app telling me where it was, and stood there. Looking around, it was super cool. I had made it. I had created something grand!

I felt a much greater sense of accomplishment than when I had built that shitty house on Gahlora. The circle was huge.

This circle was 706.86 square miles of space. In comparison, New York City was around 300 square miles. I had read it in a tourist brochure when I visited the city, and now my city was going to be more than double it's size! I was giddy with excitement.

I needed money, so that was my next goal in the immediate future. I flew off, gently so I didn't break the ground this time, and started Dungeon hunting.
