Speaking of Stacy’s Mom, I was headed off to AP science and I was feeling really good about it. I hustled about as fast as one could get away with over to the classroom. I had a tendency to sit near the front of the class when the choice was available. I was there to get shit done, not mess around, However this was AP science and the whole class was top to bottom tryhards like me so dawdling was not an option if I wanted a front row seat. Well technically there wasn’t so much a ‘front row’ as two lab tables pushed together with four chairs that were closer to the teachers desk and the whiteboard than the others.
Sadly I wasn’t the first one there. The classroom was on the third floor, the cafeteria was on ground level, and I sure as hell wasn’t built to go to college on a sports scholarship. So I was like fourth, which means I was able to dunk myself into the last lab seat at the table by dipping past someone who nearly got there ahead of me but had gotten a little too complacent by the door.
She glared daggers at me as I settled in but I was technically first, the best kind of first. I sat up straight and saw Lauren… which is to say Ms.Voight the science teacher, watching us file in from the teachers desk. This had been a fairly crappy day all things considered but just being in her general presence made me feel better about it somehow. The class itself was nothing special, mostly a discussion of the class and some reviewing some lab safety handouts that were photocopied from the same master the school had been using for years.
The way my seat was positioned I wasn’t able to see the teachers desk and whiteboard were sort of behind me if I was sitting properly so I had to turn my chair to see them, however sitting normally I had a pretty decent angle to see the faces of the other students. This was important because Lauren tended to prefer students from her own classes being recruited for the homework club.
Now I am not the best with faces so I had to take a look at each of the girls in turn and try to memorize them. Fortunately the class was small, and it didn’t take long to get what I hoped was a good enough picture I could identify them later. I didn’t know any of their names but that didn’t super matter right now.
Stolen novel; please report.
Last year I hadn’t known the names of the seniors in the homework club until one of them offhandedly mentioned that so&so was going to be late and I asked “Who?”.
They both found it hilarious I’d been with each of them sexually at least half a dozen times before I’d known their names but what was I supposed to do? It never felt like the right time and we spent most of our time together gagged or with our mouths otherwise occupied.
I heated up from the embarrassment just thinking about it. Had to toss some metaphorical cold water on those thoughts because I was still very much in class but I completed my mission by the bell, at least I hoped I had.
As the other students were heading off Lauren pulled me aside.
“What do you think?” She asked coyly.
“I think there is a lot of potential here.” I answered noncommittally. We definitely had several good candidates to choose from.
“Anyone you have your eye on in particular?” She asked, seeming genuinely curious.
“Not yet.” I answered honestly. None of them were dead ringers for my strike zone but I also wasn’t shopping for myself. “I’ll keep an eye out. Hopefully a few of us share a gym period.”
Lauren nodded approvingly and waved me off. I hesitated for a moment. I wanted to get up on my toes and give her a kiss but there was too big a chance someone walking the halls would look over at just the wrong time. I waved to her from the door instead and headed back down to the gym on the ground floor feeling a little bit melancholy having to leave her so soon.
Ah well. Duty calls.
