A bit of an interlude today between normal chapters. I need to share two exciting announcements.
FIRST ANNOUNCEMENT
I just completed some substantial edits of Nexus Runner book 1 - the first 75 chapters.
What edits were included?
The primary focus of the edits was to address several comments and some feedback all focusing on Lucas and Cyrus. Some folks felt that Cyrus came across as a liar, that the game mechanics were inconsistent, and that Lucas lacked free will to make his own choices. As a result, sometimes Lucas seemed a bit whiny.
To correct those issues and make the book overall much better, I changed the scene in the beginning when he clears the Forest Glade Dungeon, defeats the Essence Wights, and steps through the first rip in the fabric of the world.
Now, when Cyrus offers to run an experiment with Lucas and offers the tier-1 race evolution, he shares more information up front, including the fact that Lucas will basically reset his character to level 1, in essence restarting the game as a fundamentally stronger character. His power curve will escalate rapidly, but only if he survives stage 1. On stage 1, he'll have to work harder than anyone and will face a number of tests to prove he's worth the investment.
So when Lucas chooses the evolution, he knows that in the short term he'll face major challenges, with the promise of much more power in the long run. This helps him deal with the tests that get dropped in his path much better, since he chose that route. He's in control of his own destiny, and Cyrus has warned him up front that things will not run the same for him as for others as he works through the tests.
The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
That change required subtle (and sometimes not-so-subtle) edits to quite a few other chapters. In the process, I applied other edit suggestions that many of you have made. Thanks again for those!
So what does this mean?
If that explanation is enough for you, then probably nothing.
However, if you want to go back and re-read the earlier chapters to see how the edits change the story, and share your feedback, you are encouraged to do so. I've created 2 ways for you to do that.
1. I uploaded the edits to every chapter already (as of today - May 1, 2025), so you can simply go back and re-read the earlier chapters.
2. I also created an ARC copy of Nexus Runner 1! If you would like to purchase the ARC copy (thank you very much!) you can get it on my Patreon for $3 at this link:

If you do decide to simply re-read the earlier posted chapters that I've updated here on RR, please share an honest review once you finish. Reviews help more than you know.
If you decide to buy the ARC, please also share a review. That small financial support also helps far more than you know.
NOTE - if you sign up as a patron on my patreon, you can download the ARC ebook for free with your subscription.
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your enthusiasm for this story, your passion in your comments, and your willingness to help me make Nexus Runner even better.
ANNOUNCEMENT TWO
Starting very soon in May, I will begin posting FOUR CHAPTERS PER WEEK on Royal Road instead of 3.
Why?
A couple of reasons.
First, you're all awesome and i want to get more content to you sooner.
Second, I want to narrow the gap slightly between Royal Road and my Patreon. At the moment, that gap is a whopping 40 chapters wide. I plan to slowly narrow that to 30 chapters to better manage my upcoming release schedule. Patreon will still remain pretty far ahead, so don't worry, I will not stop posting new content there too. I will continue to post 3 chapters per week.
Third, I'm planning to release the first Nexus Runner hopefully by July, 2025 in both ebook and audiobook formats, which means I'll be stubbing those chapters, and I want more content available to all of you by the time I do that.
Again, thank you so much! You're the best!
