Strive 48: So, Um… The Meeting, Right?

  Taoreta's POV

"Now then, how about we continue from where we left off?" Mato suggested while raising his index finger.

"Sure, we can do that." Yosei nodded.

"Is that fine, everyone?" Mato looked at all of us. From the adults to the supernaturals, we all seemed to be in agreement.

"I suppose that's a yes," I commented while resting my palms on the table.

Mato swiped the air and turned serious.

"Then I shall begin. Firstly, let's go back to the topic about Kibishi being the Grim Reaper."

My body stiffened from intenseness. It wasn't about the idea of Kishi being the Grim Reaper. It was the idea that people might view him differently with the information that was going to be revealed....

But I knew that David, Riley, and the other girls of the supernaturals wouldn't. At least, I hoped the girls wouldn't.

  For Kishi's sake.

"Now, like Yosei, Akuma, and Kujira's, Kibishi's is the idea of what the Grim Reaper can be like. And frankly, this means that whatever weapon he uses can increase his power. It can be his bare hands and he still can use his powers. But the question is, WHAT type of powers will he have?" Mato said.

Mato closed his eyes and sighed deeply.

"No one knows. It can be the idea that he can see death or maybe he can bring it. It all depends on how Kibishi thinks what death is. If he thinks it means to kill then it will kill everyone. If he thinks it means to save then... well, who knows. I never heard of death saving someone." Mato opened his eyes and looked away.

"So it's up to Kibi himself, right? Then I believe we're safe." Kuma smiled.

"Mm... I want to think so, too, but like in real life death, it's unpredictable. You don't know when it'll happen in your life. If you think of it that way, Kibishi himself can be unpredictable." Kujira suggested while folding her arms.

"Hmm... true..." Yosei softly spoken as she rested her body on the table.

  "..."

I had no words to say anything. I wanted to say:

"It's Kishi! He won't do anything that will make me sad!"

Or something between the lines. But honestly? That was probably entirely wrong.

I had to face the facts. Just because he cared about me, didn't mean his whole life would revolve around that forever. Humans could change their minds when they needed to. And since this was something entirely different, then I doubted me being in his decision-making was a thing.

For all I knew, Kishi, who was a concept of death, could kill me without a second thought.

  Yet.

I wasn't scared of the idea of him killing me. It was what he would do afterwards.

The idea of leaving him alone in this world. And by his own hand, no less. I could—no. I couldn't imagine the impact it would do to him. Not to mention, how he would view the world afterwards. Then again, this was all specution on my part.

So, even if I couldn't really say that he wouldn't be unpredictable:

"I know that Kishi won't hurt anyone who treats him nicely and kindly. And I know for sure that he won't kill for the sake of killing." I finally answered with pride. Not in myself, but in my faith in Kishi.

"How can you be certain? The boy bashed his—"

"That's EXACTLY why I know he won't kill for no good reason. If Kishi does it, then it must've been beyond his control." I firmly stated, interrupting The Founder.

"... I want to think so, too, but..." Kujira muttered her st few words while pcing her index finger under her chin.

Kuma stared at me with a straight face. She blinked and then smiled.

"I see. Then I believe in Kibi as well!" Kuma, sounding satisfied by my answer, closed her eyes and sighed in relief.

"You're going to believe her?" Mato asked with surprise.

"Of course. Tao won't lie to us about this type of stuff. Plus, it's about Kibi so I a hundred percent believe her with this." Kuma slowly rested her head on her palms and gave me a cheeky grin. "After all, what's not to believe in someone who has faith in the person they truly deeply care about. Even I envy that... ah. I went too far. That was supposed to be a thought, not words out of my mouth!"

"... I see. Well, if Kuma believes in them then I shall, too, as the group's leader. I feel bad for doubting a bit, but things can be unpredictable." Yosei stated then smiled at me.

"Well then! I'll take Taoreta's word for it, too! I want to have faith in my teammates as well!" Yosei puffed up her chest with pride.

Kujira on the other hand was still thinking. It took a moment but Kujira sighed deeply and smiled at me.

"For goodness sake. We're basing this on trust, right? If Kuma and Yosei trust you Tao then I will, too. I'm still iffy about it, but I'm not that cold to turn against my friends and their trust."

"You guys..." I slowly smiled out of instinct. When I realized that, I touched my lips and jolted in shock. Wait, why was I smiling? I mean, I was gd that they didn't distrust Kishi but still.

  "..." I blinked.

I then scoffed and ughed to myself.

Now who was trying to hide their trust?

If they believed in Kishi then it was good enough for me.

"AND OF COURSE I TRUST KIBISHI THE MOST!" A voice shouted across the room. And I had an idea whose voice that was.

I instinctively looked in his direction and saw David pushing out his chest in his soldier uniform.

He even had a smug look.

"Yup! My boy won't kill anyone! He's my dawg! My G! He won't harm anyone unless it's got a reason behind it! He—o-ow ow ow!"

Riley retaliated by pinching his butt with a hint of a blush across her face and a small smile.

"Right, right. That's enough or I'll aim for the front." Riley scolded David then pinched his butt once more.

"Ow! Stop that! That's not cool!" David barked at Riley.

Then the whole room started to ugh out loud. Well, everyone except for The Founder, of course.

Seeing everyone ughing it off even though they knew that Kishi "might" be unpredictable brought a smile to my face.

I was gd that Kishi had many people behind him and not the exact opposite.

  This pleased me.

But sadly, we got interrupted by The Founder coughing. Then the whole room became silent.

"...Thank you. Honestly...." The Founder fixed his tie and then looked at Mato. "You may continue, Mato."

"Oh, right. I was so invested in these moments that I forgot about the meeting briefly. Anyways..."

  Mato turned back serious.

"Let's get back on topic. So, Kibishi has the ability of death. This means that there are many ways he can use it. The only question is, how will he use it. And unfortunately, we don't have an answer to that question right now. We'll have to have him train so that we can get a better understanding of it."

  Mato then smiled at us.

"Well, with Taoreta keeping an eye on him, I'm sure that he'll be fine as is. At least, for now."

"Hmph." The Founder scoffed as a response.

For someone that's interested in Kishi, he sure can reject many opinions about him...

I wondered if that interest died down alongside his opinions. While I was curious about this, only a little bit, I tossed it aside and put it in the back of my mind where it belonged.

"One st thing before we move on. I do generally believe that you girls need to keep an eye on him whenever he wakes up. We can't have Kibishi running around freely for at least a week before finishing our research on The Grim Reaper's abilities. Can you all do that for me?" Mato asked me and the supernaturals.

"Sure!" Kuma responded without a second thought.

"That was the pn. I can't just let him roam around the girls' room like that!" Yosei brightly smiled at us.

"Uh, no. I think he meant keeping an eye on Kib for the sake of our safety, not our panties..." Kujira corrected Yosei while sighing deeply.

"Kishi is not that type of guy!" I blushed madly while gripping the table. I didn't like the idea of them thinking that Kishi was some kind of pervert! I mean, I knew he was a guy and all, but I was sure he wouldn't do anything indecent that would cross any path! Kishi's name needed to be cleared and pure!

"I don't know. He is a guy, after all." Kuma gave me a cheeky grin.

"B-but... ah! He won't do that if you all find that uncomfortable! Plus, it's common sense to not be pervy around girls!"

"Uh, you do know that girls can be perverts, too... right?" Kuma showed concern with a small smile.

  "...I-I knew that..." I whispered.

Damn it! I needed to change the subject before I spread Kishi's name in a wrong way. But what? Nothing was coming to mind and frankly, I was too heated to even think straight at the moment. Oh, geez! What to do?!

"Well then, since we know that Kibishi will be in good hands, let's go to Taoreta's supernatural." Mato interrupted my thought process.

"Huh?" All of us said in unison.

"After that, we'll wrap the meeting up with tonight's mission." The Founder added.

All of us turned serious when they mentioned the mission. It seemed like after learning what type of supernatural I was, we would get tonight's mission. I guessed that meant that Kishi wouldn't be joining us tonight. And frankly, it might feel lonely without him. Maybe I would ask if he could join us, but that depended on how long the meeting went. Plus, even if they approved of him going with us, I would have to check up on him either way so maybe I would save that for AFTER the meeting.

From there, I could figure out whether or not to bring him with us.

And I also had something to say to him as well. Well, that was if Kishi was awake by the time the meeting was over. Either way, I was determined more than ever to tell Kishi the news after this meeting. If he was sleeping then I would tell it to him ter. If Kishi didn't hear then I would repeat it for him.

  All in all,

Everything I did... was for Kishi's sake.
