Kibishi's POV
The next day
And so the next day came. After reporting to the founder and the other adults during our usual meeting, Tao and I decided to meet David and Riley, who were now taking a break after making our breakfast and doing the dishes.
It was a peaceful morning.
"WHAT THE HELL??!!!" David screamed from the top of his lungs.
....Never mind.
This morning was a noisy one.
Here I was, sitting at the cafeteria table with David and Riley with my orange-haired best friend, Tao.
At that moment, I was wearing a bck shirt, a white hoodie, bck pants, and red shoes with white stripes. Oh, and I couldn't forget my golden neckce as well.
Tao was wearing a simple white dress and white heels. She was also wearing her golden bracelet. Not to mention, she had tied up her hair in a ponytail, which was very cute, in my opinion. I had to use all of my willpower to stop staring at her like a creep.
At that moment, it was a losing battle, but I had to endure!
Anyway.
David was matching my shirt with blue jeans and bck shoes. His long bck braids were tied as well. And I could see a Band-Aid on the thumb of his dark-skinned hand.
Last, but not least, Riley was matching Tao's clothing. The only thing was that her hair wasn't tied.
She seemed also to have earrings, now that I thought about it. Diamond shape, too.
But that aside...
"You're so noisy in the morning..." I took a deep bite of my cheese sandwich after compining in a deep and sleepy voice.
I had skipped breakfast to keep David and Riley company. Tao had had the same idea as well.
And now, the two of us were enjoying our cheese sandwiches, which David and Riley had prepared for us while making theirs.
"How can I be calm?! My bro was in danger and I wasn't there to protect him!" David chomped on his sandwich hard and swallowed. "Dude! Are you certain that you're alright?"
"I'm fine, David. Tao and I slept the whole night, and now we're well enough to move around," I reassured my worrisome friend.
David could be a pain in the ass, but I knew he did it to show that he was comfortable around us. And I couldn't really compin, since it was how our friendship had started in the first pce.
"What's with that attitude, dude. I'm only saying that I was worried sick about you two. Cut a guy some sck." David closed his eyes and then sighed deeply, dramatically.
"Your thoughts are very appreciated, David!" Tao gave David a sweet smile.
"Well, I'm gd SOMEONE appreciates me!" David pced his sandwich down and puffed up his chest when he announced that.
"But you're still a weirdo and a pain in the ass," Riley casually dropped the bomb and took a bite of her sandwich.
"Said the girl who begged me to get her those earrings?" David smirked at Riley in a sinister way.
"We're best friends. It's our job to be needy with one another. Buying an earring for a girl can make her feel special." Riley took another bite of her sandwich and closed her eyes.
"Uh, no, they don't?" David instantly broke into a sweat while folding his arms.
"Huh. Well. Sucks to be you, huh?" Riley looked at her sandwich when she said that.
"What the hell does that mean?" David went into Riley's face. But despite that, she remained calm and looked at him with a quiet expression.
"It means we're in this mess because of your loudness. And I got in trouble for it!" Riley stated.
"You're the one who beat up that one guy until he turned purple!" David shouted at Riley.
"So? That's just me backing up my best friend. You're a man, right? Treat me right after saving your sorry butt." Riley shoved David's head away.
She then touched her earrings with a small smile.
"Or what? These earrings don't suit me now?"
"I didn't say that. You look beautiful with them. I don't regret buying them for you." David was honest with Riley's question.
"Then there's no problem. End of story." Riley finished her sandwich and gave the pte to David. "Be a dear and make me another sandwich?"
"Grr..." David lifted himself and snatched away the pte with brute force. "... Fine then. Be right back..."
David headed towards the kitchen while still grumbling.
Once he was out of sight, she sighed deeply and y her head on top of the table.
"Argh! What a paiiin!~ Tao!~ Let me use your thighs as a p pillow!~" Riley whined as she stretched her arms across the table.
"I don't mind, but then you'll have to come closer for you to rest on them." Tao ughed as she patted her thighs over her white dress.
"Then don't mind if I do!~"
Riley pyfully leaped up from her seat and lightly hopped towards our side of the table. Once she made it there, Riley squeezed in between Tao and me to y her head on Tao's dress.
"Whooo!~ thigh pillows are the best!~" Riley cheered while snuggling into Tao's dress.
"I'm gd!" Tao responded with high spirits.
"..."
... 'Kay. That was my cue to leave this side of the table, wasn't it?
I was about to get up until I felt something kicking the side of my rib cage gently. It was Riley with a small smile.
"You don't have to leave, you know? There's room for one more!~" Riley teased and gave a cheeky smile at the end.
"I'll decline, thank you..." I whispered with a hint of a blush.
"Oh? You prefer David's?" Riley gave a smug look while I could hear Tao giggle as she was covering her mouth.
"I'll decline, thank you!" I closed my eyes, trying to get that image out of my mind.
I held my head and shook it.
"Urgh... by the way, why did you make David buy that? It can't be because of something you both caused among yourselves, right?" I grumbled, but I spoke loud enough for my friends to hear.
"Hmm..." Riley stopped and thought for a moment.
Riley then slowly rose from her "pillow" and fixed herself. She looked left and then right. Riley might have been looking for David.
She then looked at me with a cute red blush appearing.
"Promise not to tell David?"
I nodded in response.
Riley slowly nodded back. She gently pced her hands together as the blush on her face brightened.
"Hehehe!~ I just wanted something to keep David in pce!~" Riley practically sang.
"I-is that so...?" I ughed nervously.
"I'm serious! And I'm pnning on getting him a beanie ter today as a surprise!" Riley excitedly pumped up her hands.
"Oh! That's wonderful, Riley!" Tao held each of Riley's hands.
"Right?!" Riley giggled.
Riley then looked at me with a cute expression that was trying to make her look "serious".
"But don't tell David about this! Got it?!" Riley pced her index finger between her lips.
"Hmm... I don't know. I can't say for sure that I won't spill the beans if we end up talking about some things that only guys can understand." I chuckled with my eyes closed.
"Urgh!" I heard the fear in Riley's voice. "Wait a second, Kibishi. Is this...?" Riley sounded like she had admitted defeat.
"Yup! Checkmate, Riley."
I opened my eyes and saw Riley lowering her head, then sighing dramatically just like David from before.
It wasn't long before David returned with four new ptes of sandwiches. This time, there were slices of pork in the cheese sandwich.
"Here you guys go,"
David pced each sandwich for everyone and then sat down with his arms folded.
"Huh?! I didn't tell you to make for everyone else!" Riley stood up and formed both fists.
"Too bad. I was in a bad mood, so I made extras. If you don't want yours, then give it to Tao already."
"Hmph!" Riley puffed up her cheeks.
"Anyway, why are you by Kibishi and Tao?" David raised his right brow in confusion.
"Nothing!" Riley turned her head away from David.
David narrowed his eyes in annoyance.
"Geez! I sometimes don't get you!" David closed his eyes. "Then again, that's how you are sometimes, so I kinda do."
With a shrug, David started to eat his sandwich.
Not trying to make things even more awkward, I joined in. Soon after, Riley and Tao did the same.
We all knew when to stop a conversation before things got worse, so we just let the heated people cool off while the others were there for support.
I had missed this type of stuff.
Despite my early compining about that morning, it turned out pretty eventful.
