Information Sheet 6: The Divinne Laws Of Balance - An Excerpt
The Origin Of The Divine Laws:
Forged by Arceus, the Creator Himself, the Divine Laws of Balance, also just called the Divine Laws, are a certain set of rules that bind all Mythical and Legendary Pokemon. Their purpose is simple, and as the name implies, they exist to maintain balance across the world and prevent the overwhelming forces of creation and destruction that the most powerful Pokemon can wield from tearing reality apart. These laws cannot be broken, not by will, not by power, not even by divine intervention. They are have become part of the fabric of existence itself. They cannot be cheated, they can only be slightly bend. And even then, such an action always comes with a high price. The Divine Laws also lay down the basic groundrules by which a Pokemon's strength grows. They clearly define certain power stages, the importance of Mystery Dungeons and the inner workings of moves.
The Accumulation Of Power:
All Pokemon naturally absorb type energy throughout their lives. This absorbed energy is converted into for the Pokemon usable type energies and then stored in their type energy reserve, a spiritual core that fuels every move, instinct, physcial and mental capabilities, as well as evolution. As a Pokemon ages and trains, their reserve expands due to that absorption of natural type energy, allowing them to hold more type energy in turn and thus, grow stronger. This is why Mystery Dungeons are so treasured. The dense type energy within accelerates this process, allowing Pokemon to strengthen their reserves through exposure and adaptation. However, this reserve has limits. To continue growing after a certain point, the type energy within must be compressed, refined into higher purity and density, thereby allowing for new growth. This compression becomes harder with each stage of power a Pokemon reaches and are a major roadblock for most.
The Stages Of Power
Every Pokemon walks a long path of growth, defined by how their type energy evolves and refines over the course of their life. From the smallest spark of potential to the radiance of divinity, each stage represents not just strength, but a deepening understanding of how to hold, compress, and wield the world’s energy. A Pokémon’s life begins at the Baby stage, when the type energy within them is still raw and unstable. Their reserves are tiny, and what little energy they absorb flows freely, shaping their basic instincts and early abilities. Growth at this point is purely natural, the power of the Pokemon expands over time without thought or control.
The Kid stage marks the first signs of self-awareness. Type energy moves more smoothly, the Pokemon becoming able to roughly feel and interact with their own reserve and type energy. Compression, the process of condensing and refining energy to make room for more, still happens automatically, allowing steady and effortless development as the young Pokemon learns through experience and exposure to slowly control more and more of their type energy. At the end of this stage, the Pokemon will already be capable of using stronger moves without problems, having acclimated to their type energy completely.
During the Teenager stage, the instinctive process of absorbing type energy and further compressing it begins to demand intention. Type energy starts responding to emotion, conviction, and desire more and more. It is a volatile time, where the type energy starts to flow faster, power grows rapidly, but control is still something that has to be learned. Many Pokemon learn their defining tactics, instincts, and moves here, guided by passion and maybe their teachers. At that stage, some Pokemon also already approach their first evolution, their type energy reserve ready, but their body not yet able to meet the requirements.
Reaching the Adult stage, a Pokemon’s power fully stabilizes. Their reserves have grown wide and deep, and compression becomes a deliberate act. They must now train, focus, and maintain balance between expansion and refinement. The Adult stage lasts the longest of all, often encompassing most of a Pokemon’s life, as well as all of their evolutions. For many, this is where their journey ends, never to grow much stronger because everything needs regular exposure to Dungeons or other places with high type energy density.
Those who push beyond reach the Elder stage. At this point, the density of their energy deepens dramatically, making them uncomparable to anyone a stage below them in strength. Elders are respected for their wisdom as much as their strength, for they have learned to compress energy with care and subtlety, while putting themselves into danger time and time again to do so.
The next step, Ancient, marks a true threshold. Here, compression nears perfection. An Ancient Pokemon’s reserves hold immense energy, their bodies and minds tuned to sustain and refine it endlessly. They are no longer bound by the limits of ordinary growth, yet their power remains internal, incredibly vast but still contained. Though their presence can distort the air and stir instinctive awe, they still lack the strength to truly damage it. Their essence has not yet birthed a Domain, and thus they remain within the natural order and free of the Divine Laws. Advancing to this stage, or even further into this stage, is close to impossible without many decades of constant exposure to strong Dungeons.
When an Ancient compresses its energy one final time, the internal balance tips, and a nascent Domain is born, which marks them as a Mythical. The Mythical gains a subtle influence over the world around them in form of their own type energies, a reflection of their will upon reality itself. Yet with this awakening their growth slows to near standstill. The sheer quality of their type energy makes expanding their reserves again an effort of centuries. Dungeons and external sources barely stir their strength anymore. Progressing further is not just incredibly hard, but even for the few Pokemon that ever reach that strength, becoming even stronger stops being a goal they want to reach, with the Divine Laws already starting to bind them. Reaching further is in most Mythicals eyes not worth the time, nor the risk, so they remain content at their strength level.

Very few Mythicals endure long enough to completely expand their now-divine reserves to their ultimate capacity. Those that do, however, can now refine their Domain into its true, stable form, thereby ascending to a Lesser Legendary. At this level, the Domain becomes a permanent extension of their existence. Wherever they walk, the world bends subtly to their essence. Oceans calm or rage, skies clear or thunder, simply because they will it so. These beings stand as the first true masters of divinity, wielding forces that can shift reality itself in a way where not even Mythicals can resist the Domain's effects.
Above them are the Greater Legendaries, the apex of divine existence. Their Domains are no longer tools but identities. They form vast, coherent realities in miniature that resonate with the fabric of the world. Their strength no longer grows through expansion of reserves, but through perfecting the harmony between themself and their own Domain. Each thought they have shapes creation itself.
Beyond even these few stand the God-Like Entities, beings whose will sustains entire laws of nature or dimensions of existence. They embody the purest form of refined energy, existing in constant communion with the balance of the cosmos. Their power is legend, their presence divine. These beings do not interact with the world anymore, unless the world itself drastically falls out of balance.
Above all stands Arceus, the origin and the end, the being with no equal. The first and only to hold perfect unity between self, Domain, and creation, as well as the architect of the Divine Laws that bind all others. Every stage below Him exists within the limits He designed, ensuring that even gods must obey the structure of balance that keeps the world He created whole.
The Domain:
A Domain is the outward manifestation of a being’s inner nature, the pure expression of their will upon the world around them. It is not mere power, it's a resonance between body, mind, and the flow of type energy that shapes creation itself. Only beings of Mythical strength or higher possess a Domain. Before that stage, no Pokemon, not even an Ancient, can influence reality through will alone. Ancients may radiate immense pressure, their type energy distorting the air or stirring emotion, but this is the weight of their power, not true dominion.
When a Pokémon first ascends to Mythical, their Domain is born in its nascent form. This awakening marks the first moment their essence begins to affect the world directly. The environment reacts instinctively to them. These are not deliberate acts, but natural consequences of their existence. The world, recognizing their elevated being, bends slightly to accommodate them.
A true Domain emerges only when a Mythical fully refines and stabilizes this power, the hallmark of a Lesser Legendary and beyond. At this level, the Domain is no longer an echo of nature’s response, but a conscious extension of will. Within its reach, the air, the light, even the flow of fate can be altered according to the Legendary’s essence. To stand within such a Domain is to stand inside another reality, one shaped by conviction and identity.
Domains are the reason divine Pokemon are both revered and feared, and the reason they are bound by the Divine Laws set by Arceus Himself. Without these restraints, a single act of emotion from such beings could unmake continents, or alter destiny itself. The Laws exist to preserve balance, ensuring that even gods may shape the world, but never break it.
The Divine Laws:
1. The Divine Laws govern the conduct of all beings touched by divine essence, Mythicals and Legendaries alike. They are immutable, universal, and eternal, woven into the very structure of existence. To break one is to defy the foundation upon which the world stands.
2. There is no true hierarchy between Greater and Lesser Legendaries. Though their strength may vary, they exist upon the same divine scale, their might differing in reach but not in nature. They may act, speak, and clash as equals, bound only by the same eternal laws that govern all divine entities.
3. Mythicals and Legendaries cannot escape the nature of their power, their mere presence reshapes the natural order. Rivers may change course, storms may gather, and the earth itself may tremble beneath their essence. Yet this influence must never be turned toward cruelty. They shall not kill, lie, steal, or inflict harm upon lesser Pokemon directly, nor bring suffering by deliberate design.
4. If imbalance or harm arises as an unintended consequence of their nature or will, a Mythical or Legendary may offer compensation, an act or gift of equal value to both themselves and the harmed. Only when both sides accept this exchange as just does the matter come to rest.
5. Mythicals and Legendaries may enter pacts with weaker Pokemon, trading aid, blessings, or power in fair exchange, so long as the bargain upholds the Divine Laws. They may share their essence freely to heal, strengthen, or protect, but never to corrupt, enslave, or destroy. Through these exchanges, the bond between divine and mortal may flourish, so long as balance and consent remain whole.
6. When a weaker being dares to strike against a Mythical or Legendary, the restraint the Divine Laws imposes on them is lifted. They may defend themselves with the full measure of their power, and if collateral harm follows as consequence, the Laws remain silent, provided the act is not one of excessive reprisal. This right endures until the harm is mended and both sides recognize balance restored. Or alternatvely, until one side is dead.
The Consequence Of Breaking the Divine Laws:
The Divine Restrictions are not enforced by judgment, but by nature. Should a Mythical or Legendary act beyond their rightful scope without offering proper compensation, their Domain unravels, and their essence returns to Arceus, dissolved into nothingness. There is no trial and no forgiveness.
