Chapter Fifteen: Learning to Fly – Part Two
I looked at the cliff with eyes full of fear and anticipation, while my heart pounded violently. The wind howled around us, as if trying to push me away from the edge I was standing on, but there was no turning back now.
This was my only chance to learn how to fly, and I had no other choice. I knew that risk was an inevitable part of this journey, and I had to overcome it if I wanted to grow and eventually surpass William and the other heroes.
“Are you sure we have to jump?” Mia said in a trembling voice, looking over my shoulder into the abyss. Fear was clear on her face, but she didn’t dare object. Her eyes followed my movements nervously as I turned toward her with a forced smile, trying to make it reassuring.
“Yes, Mia. We have to face our fears. There’s no growth without risk,” I answered cautiously.
I took a deep breath, filled with the cold air that was saturated with the scent of ancient rocks and the clouds brushing against the mountain peaks. I felt the weight of my body on the edge, as if gravity itself was clinging to me, trying to stop me from taking the next step. I looked down… the ground there, so far away, just a blurry dot drowned in the depth of the horizon, as if it didn’t belong to the same world I was standing in.
But, in the midst of this towering scene, I didn’t feel the fear I had expected. The wind, despite its force battering me as if it wanted to push me into the unknown, didn’t terrify me… instead, it carried something strange. A hidden feeling, an ancient energy, as if the air itself was whispering to me: “It’s time.”
There was something stirring inside me… not just courage, but a memory. A deep sensation in the blood, like a mysterious call, as if the lineage of dragons I belonged to was watching me, waiting for this moment.
Then, without further hesitation, I decided to jump.
My jump wasn’t heroic or calculated… it was a fleeting, decisive moment between the sky and the abyss. I felt the void pulling me downward, my body plummeting rapidly, and the wind slapping my face and pushing me toward the depths as if celebrating my fall. But I didn’t scream. I didn’t resist.
And as the ground drew closer, suddenly… I spread my wings. It was an instinctive act, unplanned, as if my body remembered something older than my consciousness.
In that moment, images rushed into my mind… memories of the bloodline, winged dragons soaring through the sky, the sound of thunder, fire, freedom. And with the first flap, my fall suddenly slowed. I was no longer falling… I was flying — or rather, I was riding the wind itself.
An indescribable feeling… as if the sky had finally welcomed me as one of its own.
“Oh my God!” Mia shouted from above. “How did you do that?”
I was flapping my wings, soaring through the air for the first time in my life. My wings were massive and powerful, stretching from my body like two colossal panels of strength. And although I was flying steadily as if I had been born for it, I felt a sense of inner amazement. I hadn’t expected it to be this smooth, but deep down, I knew this was only the beginning. This ability alone wasn’t enough… I still had much to learn before I could become a true flier.

I began to descend gradually, lowering slowly until I touched the ground. I landed gently, my wings still spread wide, covering the sky like giant clouds, far larger than my body.
I looked at Mia and said with a smile: Flying isn’t as easy as it looks… but it’s amazing! Your turn now.
Mia stood on the edge, watching me from above. Her eyes were filled with doubt and worry, but she did not back down. Despite her hesitation, she tried to show confidence as she said, “If you can fly, then I can too, right?”
I hesitated for a moment, then she jumped.
At first, it seemed as if the wind was against her, pushing her off course. Her wings were incomplete, fluttering irregularly, as if she had not yet fully awakened. But as the fall continued, something strange began to happen. Under the pressure of the wind, as if her body was reminding itself who it was, her wings gradually took shape. They first appeared as faint shadows, then began to unfold like fire… red, shining, pulsating with life, until they were fully formed.
And in a moment, Mia rose gracefully into the sky, her wings cutting through the air with confidence and beauty.
“I have become the queen of the red dragons!” Mia shouted as she soared above me.
I looked up at her and joked, “You won’t defeat me, sister… we have to train together.”
Then I laughed softly and began to fly. I flew beside her, the sky around us vast, as if it were opening its arms to invite us to explore it.
The sky was vast, stretching without limits, yet a strange feeling of anxiety about what awaited us in the near future hovered over my heart.
I said to myself, turning my gaze toward the distant horizon: We must find the tomb of the Dragon Emperor… that is our goal now.
I felt something strange as I soared through the sky for the first time. The winds raged around me as if trying to force me to surrender to their power, but I was determined to succeed.
My wings were massive and strong, and with every flap, they lifted me higher, to new horizons I had never known before.
I was not just flying; I felt as if I was melting into the sky, as if I was created to be part of it… as if this was the true home for every dragon.
At that moment, I realized that what I was feeling was not just the thrill of flying, but the pride of the dragon.
But amidst this majestic feeling, I realized it was much deeper. My life as a human had ended, and belonging to this new world was not just a matter of wings.
Every move I make, every decision I take, could change… or even destroy the lives of many in this world.
I must become something darker… something more evil than anyone can imagine.
This world recognizes only strength, and I was born in it as one of its strongest creatures.
I will not allow anyone to stand in my way — not the story’s hero, nor even William himself.
…I must abandon all human weakness, all hesitation, all traces of mercy that might confuse me at the decisive moment.
I must bury the human I once was…
and embrace the dragon I have become now.
And that means abandoning my human conscience and adopting the conscience of the beast… one that knows no mercy, and does not hesitate to crush anyone who stands in its way.
To survive and change my fate in this world, I must exert tremendous effort and destroy many humans, beasts, and demons. This world recognizes only strength, and I was reborn in it as a powerful creature.
I will not relinquish my right to life for any reason, or for anyone, even if it is a hero chosen by this world itself.
There is still much for me to do in this savage world.
To stay alive, it is not enough to be merely evil. I must live every moment with one goal:to kill the story’s heroes… like William.
And this means I must abandon all my old beliefs as a human from Earth and embrace the beliefs of the dragon race… and the principles of this new world.
At that moment, my thoughts raced as I clearly realized the path I had chosen.
To change my fate and rewrite the destiny of this world, I had to go beyond just flying…but to spread my wings as a true power striving for domination.
Only in this way… can I survive.
Only in this way… can I prevail.
This world operates by the logic of the strong.
A cruel, merciless world, where only those more brutal than their enemies can survive.
Since my rebirth, I knew that my survival would not come from hiding… but from seizing the opportunities that this world would grant me through William and those like him.
But survival alone was not enough.
I did not want to live quietly in the shadows.
In any case, living quietly in the shadows is impossible… because sooner or later, some hero will appear, demanding my head.
If I want to return to Earth… I must become a power that cannot be underestimated.
A power that brings down heroes like dust crushed beneath one’s feet.
A power that knows no hesitation… and offers no mercy.
I must become more than just a villain.
I will become the predator of heroes… the enemy who cannot be forgotten.
I will be the Red Dragon of Domination.
