Hell Is:A Q&A Session! Episode 1!
Q: Is Hell a multiverse thing in this setting?
A: Actually, it's sort of the opposite! Hell is the end of the funnel. The whole of the multiverse ends with Hell. It doesn't matter which reality you were born in, when you die, you arrive in Hell.
Q: What actually IS Animus?
A: As Corvus explained, it's the distilled essence of a person's mortal experience and memory. The 'Value' of their mortal existence. There is more to it, but for now, to borrow Brandon Sanderson's phrase, RAFO! (Read And Find Out)
Q: How big is Hell?
A: Hell is a truly infinite plane. Not all of it is organized as the underground tunnel and chamber system that Alex and company have been traveling through. There are areas that will have a true sky, areas of ocean and islands, and areas where the concept of space is fundamentally broken. Non-euclidean geometries are a part of Hell's natural expanse and some aspects of that will be showing up soon! And yes, Alex and company will be visiting some of those wide-ranging areas in future books.
Q: I thought this was a power-progression story! Alex hasn't fought anything yet and it's already chapter 60! What gives?
A: It's absolutely a power-progression story, but you're seeing it applied to someone who isn't thrown into a life-or-death fight right off the bat, or lucking out and having a 'system-breaking' power handed to them. Alex is an average guy who lived an average life and is now in an average afterlife. He will eventually learn to fight, and he'll even become strong. But his combat prowess will seldom be the core reason he succeeds or overcomes challenges. Don't worry, he'll have plenty of chances to be a Bad-Ass though.
Q: So Alex is dating Uril. Does this mean he's Gay?
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
A: It certainly means he's attracted to Uril. Gay? Hmmmmmmmmmmm... Not necessarily. Bi? Who knows, Alex sure doesn't. And that's a core aspect of the story, there's a lot about himself that Alex doesn't know yet and is still figuring out.
Q: So what about Corvus then? What's his orientation?
A: Sorry to disappoint you here, but Corvus is Aro/Ace. He doesn't view anyone of any type in a romantic or sexual manner. Sorry to sink those Ships in the harbor, but Corvus just isn't on the market.
Q: Speaking of Corvus, he's an Apex. So what does that make Leviathan?
A: Apex applies to anyone who amasses enough power in Hell. But not all Apex are equal. In terms of raw power, people like Shalmond would be on the high-end of the non-Apex. Corvus is about a middle-ranker, alongside characters like Mercurial Ascent and Gravitas. Leviathan, though still an Apex, is leagues beyond their power-scale. Leviathan is about the mid-range of the High-end of Apex power. Comparing Leviathan to Corvus is like comparing the Sun to a candle. Comparing Leviathan to the strongest Apex would be like comparing that candle to the Big Bang.
Q: Please tell me that this isn't going to be one of those 'there's always a higher level' stories where nothing really changes tier to tier.
A: That wasn't a question. But no, it certainly won't be 'infinite' scaling where characters keep retreading the same ground over and over just with bigger feats. There will be some mind-bending spectacles in the future, but there's a hard limit on how much power anyone in Hell can have.
Q: Do you have a self-insert character in this story?
A: Nope! None of the characters that have been shown so far are any representation of me as the author. I won't say I'll never include one, but as of now, it's not in the plans.
Q: How many chapters are you planning for FADED?
A: I want to have about 120 chapters for the first book. So we're half-way there.
Q: OK, so how many books then?
A: I've got plans for about 3-4 books of similar length.
Q: Are there any plans for 'Spicy' scenes between Uril and Alex?
A: Not that will ever be included as part of the main book. The 'official' story will run riiiiight up to the edge, but will never drift into the erotic. That doesn't mean those parts of the story don't exist... just not... 'here'.
Q: So we've seen Animus as a power-scale, and Titles as a separate power-scale. Are there others?
A: Those two form the core of 'power-scaling' in Hell. There are two other types that haven't been showcased yet, so keep an eye out!
Q: So will _____ ever _____ with ____? Or is that something that only ________ and _________ have?
A: That's a biiiiig RAFO~ And on that note, that's where this Q&A is gonna end.
Thank you all so much for your interest in my book. It really means the world to me for each and every view, comment, rating, and follow. Thankyou for joining me on this adventure.
If you've got some of your own questions, please, leave a comment here and I'll answer what I can, but I reserve the right to just say RAFO~
