In the morning the whole extend family that could gather in a dinning room for breakfast. Thomas sat at a table with Iona, Tamar, and Shoshana. Thomas was flanked by Tamar and Iona. Shoshana set across the table looking at Thomas. Groups of members of the family would come by to say hello and introduce themselves.

  Ruth turning to Myriam: Is everything ok, I was expecting Shoshana to be as close to Thomas as possible this morning. Do you have any idea why the distance all of a sudden.

  Myriam motion for Tamar to come over. When she arrives at the table her mother with a worried look on her face says: What happen, why isn’t Shoshana setting next to Tzuriel.

  Tamar: Let me explain what happen. First they where not left a lone. Both me a Iona where in the room. You can ask Iona about it latter. Thomas was laying on the bed and Iona let Shoshana lay next to him with only only there hands touching. It was cute, I am not sure I could show that much discipline. Just before it was time to go, we remembered that Shoshana did not know about the probationary member hat. Plus, I think it was a way to give her an excuse to give him a little kiss. She saw the hat aske about how he got it. Then gave him a pick on the lips. Thomas gave her a quick hug, then she rushed off the bed and we headed back to the room. Telling me I was right.

  Once in the room I probe to find out what happen. I wanted to make sure it was not something Thomas may have done to make her uncomfortable. We know this is all new to her. What I leaned it was not what he did, it was the way he made her feel. That she just wanted to stay in the embrace, that her head was not in control at that moment. So you can say she is being a little couscous the morning.

  Ruth: I really do not know what to say.

  Myriam: Mom you know she has always been in her head. I mean she will let you hug her. But she typically does not like to be touched that often. So, I can just imagine when those feeling showed up. It may make her feel uncomfortable. I think I will talk with her when thomas goes before the bet Din.

  Just then Gold and Isaac Jacob come and take Thomas a way.

  Myriam and Ruth go over to where shoshana is setting at the table.

  Ruth: Are you feeling ok, I expected you to almost be sharing the same space with Tzuriel. Did something happen.

  Shoshana: Tzuriel did nothing wrong. I do not know why, but most guys when they hug me i feel uncomfortable. The fact that we really have not hug, besides me holding him the other day did not hit me. I have to admit I was frustrated by the fact he kept a little distance between us.

  But after a good by kiss for recognition of him becoming a probationary member of the Lodge. He hugged me for the first time.

  (she pauses and seem to be gathering her, takes a deep breath and sigh)

  Mom, I still have not processed what I was feeling. The only think I knew is that I wanted to stay in the hug. It felt wonderful and scary at the same time. If he did not end it, I know i would not have. I never thought it could be like that.

  In the small room thomas is taken into is a table with three men who thomas has seen before.

  The man in the middle starts to say: Thomas I want to let you know this is a little unusual. The reason that we normally do not do it for someone your age. Must less for someone showing the sign of a probationary member. But it was requested by the Mendelson that you be recognize as a member of their family. Is that your understanding of why you are here.

  Thomas: yes sir

  The man on the left: Can you please explain how you came to know the Mendelson.

  Thomas: This is something that Mr. Gold and Isaac Jacob can testify. I meet Shoshana Mendelson about a month and a half ago. I was brought up here by Eric Donaldson for a suit for the awards ceremony. While we where waiting for a few things to get finish. Mickelson gave me a kit to practice Dinning Educate. Shoshana saw me with it and came over to teach me how to use it. We also had snacks together practicing eating.

  The next time a saw her was at the Award Dinner. Where Eric thought I would be more comfortable in the ceremony if I was sitting next to Shoshana. Her, and here friend veronica being known to me, both daughters of members. She went to ask her family if she could sit with me. Where in response Sholomoh came to ask why I was trying to take his Granddaughter away form the family. He is not knowing who I was and what reason I was there. Wendy Donaldson went to smooth things over so Shoshana and Veronica to sit at my table. One of the things that came up in conversation with Shoshana was that Her dad was worried about her Grandparents needing some one to check on them. I volunteer to swing by and check on them when I could.

  What I did not know, that the fact that her dad wanted someone, someplace to watch over her gandpa was causing some real tensions between the dad and Grandfather. Shoshana said that I could live with them. So, they would have someone there if they need assistance. So that is sorta how this thing got started.

  The man at the right of the table: Mr. Gold and Isaac Jacob. To you agree with his accounting of the events.

  Isaac Jacob: Sir, what he said is true, but if it was any more down played it would be a lie on his part. For in this simple act out of many which seem he can not help himself. He has brought the family closer. He has helped heal a key sore point in the family because of expected tension. One top of that, he has gone and done beyond expected in assisting the Grandparents in the Right way. Which is a hard thing to do. He gives Ruth someone in her house to car about. You know Sholomah. Any time Sholomoh can mentor somebody, he is happy. Thomas also has taken on a lot of the basic chores that need to be done around the house with an eagerness that would be surprising if it did not fallow a greater pattern.

  I can also testify, for I have never heard him say a bad thing about the man house we took him out of. There where members lines up after meeting that man to have them in their house. For I do not know how someone can be so kind and helpful under those conditions. We have since learned that even those conditions where better than where we was before he lived in that house.

  So if you are looking for ulterior motives, that some how he has manipulated all of the Mendelson, Including me, and Mr Gold. I will bring call Mickelson and Eric to testify that he did not ask. He did not seek any of this. Left to his own actions alone. He would still be in a bad place.

  Thomas: I guess I sorta feel part of this family.

  One he is out of the room, the man in the middle ask: Gentlemen what say you?

  The man on the right: Isaac Jacob, I feel you are holding back details that although not important to this procedure. I would really like to learn more.

  The man on the left: You will have to see that we are made aware of when he gives his report on Suma Theologica. Also the suppose timing when he may be coming back to move stand here and verify he is ready for the next level.

  The man in the middle : Do we let him know the true name of the organization?

  Both men on either side: I think he has earned it.

  Both gold and Isaac shake there head in agreement.

  Man in the middle: Gentlemen invite him in.

  Thomas comes in

  Man in the middle: Thomas we agree that you may proceed to the ceremony. As a sign of trust and respect I will share the true name of our organization. Now before you receive it. You must give an oath not to reveal the name to those outside this room. Only talk about it to those Gold and Isaac Indicate that they know you have it. do you swear to keep this secret.

  Thomas with a bow head and low voice says: I do.

  The man in the middle say: The true name of the organization is Ha-Mishmeret. Which mean order, watch, gard. I expect you to gard the secret. It will be made note that you know it, and will have to give an accounting of that sometime in the future. Do you understand.

  Thomas bows his head and says yes.

  Man in the middle say: Mr. Gold and Isaac Jacob please return him to the waiting family.

  When they get back to the Dinning room. Mr. Gold and Isaac Jacob takes Thomas back to his table. where he goes over and grabs and kisses Shoshana hand then sit across the table. Mr. Gold and Issac Jacob go over to the table with Sholomoh and David Mendelson and an ASL sign of the N. Taps there temple and over the heat. Then goes set down.

  Sholomoh and David get up and go over to thomas and each pulls thomas in for a hug.

  Sholomoh: I am very proud of you. I know you do not fully apricate what has happen. This is not the time or place to talk about it. But will find time here soon.

  David: You are making me very proud. I feel like I am the lucky on today.

  Iona shows up with another man.

  Iona: Lets move one to the second step.

  Iona lead him out of the hotel into another small building on the grounds. Pulls out a key and thomas can smell cloren.

  Iona: We need to have a very quick converstation. You have two choices here. I will let you decide. You can take a dip and that is all we can ask of you. Or you can do a symbolic cricomsison. Now, we will keep this quite, but it , deep in the water fully submerged and a prayer. By definiton would make you a jew. I hope for the second option.

  I do not expect you to change religion, and only the family will learn about this at a latter date. But, it would make me proud if you choose and simplify things in the future with Shoshana.

  Thomas: I do not know quite what to think, but if it is the difference between being fully in and partaly in. I rather be fully in.

  Iona: To take a quick show and undress. Then well will perform the rite, and let you deep.

  After Thomas says the prayer and deeps three times. He comes out of the water and is given a rob and towl. We will wait for you in the lobby, go ahead and put your close back on.

  Thomas gets dress, not caring his hair is wet and comes out to be taken back to the dinning room.

  When thomas comes in the food has been cleared and thee room slightly rearranged. There was a podium to one of the room. With chair facing the podium. Some people where still seating at the tables, although most are in the chairs or moving to set in them.

  Thomas rilley the man at the podium: For those who are not part of the Mendelson family , or where invited. Please leave now.

  He waits a few minutes, a couple of people leave. Then the doors are closed.

  Thomas Rilley: Will thomas please come forth and take a seat in this chair.

  The chair is arm chair dress up.

  Thomas comes forth and sits in the chair that faces everyone else.

  Thomas Rilley: Has everyone had a chance to meet this young man, if not please come forth and introduce yourself.

  There are a few preteens who come forth to say hello and say hello and quicky return to there places.

  Thomas Rilley : I have been informed , it has been recomend that those in this room wiches to recoginze this man as part of you family. Please single by raising of your hands.

  For thomas it looks like everyone hand went up.

  Thomas Rilley: Are the anyone in disagreement. Please show by raising one hand.

  Not a single hand went up.

  Thomas Rilley: If no one is in disagreement. Please raise you right and hand. Oh, did he pick out a new name.

  Tamar: No , one has been given him. It is Tzuriel.

  Thomas Rilley: Who will be recognize as farthers name.

  Sholomoh comes forth and says My name will. Sholomoh.

  Thomas Rilley: Please raise your hand and repeat after me:

  I swear to reconize , support and remember Tzuriel ben Sholomoh as if he has been born into this family.

  Now if you are in agreement say amen.

  Then sholomoh would you like to give him a father blessing.

  Then he turns to Thomas, you see with your eyes, you have heard with your ears a salum promis to have yhou as part of this family. Now let your heart feel you are loved by those present.

  Thomas Rilley shakes thomas hand and leaves.

  After exit the room. Shoshana comes forward and put both hand on his check and give tzuriel a quick kiss then step back, almost a stumble but here Tamar is here to catch her.

  Rose and Myriam walk up and ask: how did it go?

  Iona responds: He is all in
