Chapter 155: Unforgettable fragrance

  Underworld.

  Queen's citadel.

The great elder, Little Mortal, while sipping on his tea, looked at the queen.

"I need a device to detect Newborns so I don't beat them up accidentally.

My next step of plan will be in a place that I come across many newborns and even normal people.

So I need a detector for both."

  Lilith nodded,

  "I get it.

  But, I don't have such a device.

  You have."

  Little mortal raised an eyebrow,

  "You mean my judge hammer?

I can't use any of my support team members in this mission, except little crystal and little notebook."

  Lilith furrowed,

  "Why?"

  "That's classified information."

  Lilith gritted her teeth,

"What if I found a person who can tell who is not a higher being, and easily tell you who is the newborns?"

Little Mortal after taking another sip, said,

"The other party need to be tested.

If he or she passed the test, then I can even guarantee a safe trip while working with me and they naturally gain access to some of the high level security informations I have."

  Lilith nodded,

  "Alright.

  That person is me.

  What's the test?"

Little Mortal, stunned for a second, said,

  "You?

  You already have a job.

  I can't hire you."

Lilith snorted, and called for her daughter.

When she came, and asked what she needs, Lilith said,

"Act as the manager for a while.

I need to take care of something."

  Nyxara nodded,

  "Leave it to me mother."

  And left.

Little Mortal, with shocked face looked at her,

  "You can do that?

What if she rebels and overthrows your government?"

Lilith rolled her eyes at him,

"You don't need to worry about that.

  She won't.

Now test me and give me access to these so called high security information."

Little Mortal, having no choice, said,

  "Alright.

After Fate leaving you alone, you already passed the first test.

And for the second test, just tell me how you can tell if someone is a newborn."

  Lilith snorted,

"You want me, the manager of the underworld,

Who deals with the sinners all day long, to tell you how I can tell if someone is a newborn?"

Little Mortal raised his eyebrows in surprise,

"Don't tell me you are a 'twin law user' of fire and judgment law?"

Lilith nodded with a confident smile,

"I can demonstrate it on you if you don't believe me."

But Little Mortal waved his hand,

  "No need.

If you do that, the whole underworld might be affected."

  Lilith furrowed,

"Are you questioning my control over judgment law?"

  "Nope.

I'm questioning the underworld, and if it can handle it.

  You know?

This place is now connected to the world law, and the underworld law can 'judge' me with my actions that affected the world above and below.

That's 2x special effect that I think your underworld might struggle to show.

Like when a king suddenly goes to visit a village.

Can they handle a celebration worthy of him?

  I wonder..."

Lilith's horn kept getting brighter and brighter as he spoke.

"You dare to compare my underworld with a village, and yourself with a king?"

Little Mortal chuckled and, while taking another sip, nodded.

  Lilith snapped.

She waved her hand and said,

  "Judgment by sin."

  Little Mortal gasped,

  "You actually used it?"

And a massive scale suddenly appeared above the citadel.

Lilith looked at the scale and said mockingly,

"Let's see if my underworld can 'welcome' the king."

The underworld slightly trembled at this moment.

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at the scale that suddenly appeared above Queen's citadel, wondering who was worthy enough to be judged by Queen herself.

  And then,

  *BAM*

The side of the 'good' on the scale smashed down!

  Everyone's jaw dropped!

How could such a good person be here?

Aren't everyone down here supposed to be sinners?

And the scale smashed down so hard that no one could measure how good the other party really was!

It was at this moment that Lilith remembered three important facts.

First, this little partner of hers actually saved the whole mainland above by keeping the most terrifying evil birth treasure in check for billions of years.

Second, he protected trillions of creatures from being harmed unjustly every day with his frontline effect.

And third, he actually 'saved' the underworld itself recently.

But because he was only around in everyone's memory for 2 months at most, and most of the two months he was making 'big and scary changes' everywhere,

Everyone would ignore his real effects on the world, and many didn't even know about his real 'good deeds'.

He was always in the dark, and he stopped many disasters even before they happened.

How many living creatures in his guardian territory knew what would happen if he didn't stop that vulture?

How many knew about the real nature of Lubo and what it was capable of?

How many in her underworld knew he stopped the inevitable destruction of the underworld?

And now she actually tried to judge him?

Lilith didn't know that cleaning the sealed realm and releasing the essence law was hidden from the underworld, so they weren't even included in his 'good deeds', or else...

The sky was suddenly covered with clouds.

But not the dark-red clouds that covered the ceiling in the past, but a white cloud that even Lilith was seeing for the first time in the underworld.

The fire on the ground suddenly died out, and a cold breeze blew past everyone, giving a rare feeling of comfort.

The rivers of suffering that once ran with blood turned into glimmering streams of silver, reflecting the sorrow and beauty of redemption in the eyes of sinners.

Shackles on the sinners opened up, and after gaining their freedom, even the worst sinners felt a flicker of regret, as if they were reminded of a goodness they had lost long ago.

All the sinners looked at the sky with their dry lips and felt the drops of rain falling on their skin, as if giving them a glimmer of hope that if it lasts long enough, they will be forgiven one day.

Tears of regret and the rain of forgiveness mixed and streamed down their faces.

Lilith observed the sudden appearance of eerie flowers of silver and obsidian, with petals glowing faintly, blooming everywhere and felt they contrasted with the eternal suffering.

She was utterly at a loss now.

It was like the underworld was telling them,

'I am embarrassed to be like this in front of such an existence, give me a second to makeup.'

And then changed its appearance to this.

Even the sinners were ashamed to be who they were in front of this existence and felt regret for their past actions.

All the torture devices stopped functioning, as if they were saying,

'We don't want to show this existence such an unpleasant scene of our dirty job...'

Lilith closed her eyes and canceled the judgment technique.

The scale disappeared while the sky and ground turned back to normal.

But the hearts of sinners did not.

Now, there were only muffled sounds of pain, but no scream in agony.

These criminals actually accepted their fates, regretted their past actions, and now wanted to be punished to make up for their sins willingly...

  *slurp*

The sound of sipping brought Lilith back to reality.

She turned her gaze to the one she had just judged and saw him drinking his underworld tea with a mocking smile at the corner of his mouth while emitting red smoke.

Now he was looking at her with a 'I told you so' face.

  Lilith coughed,

  "Did I pass the test?"

  Little Mortal nodded,

  "Yes.

But you can identify them with your eyes, right?

We can't look for the newborns with some eye-catching special effects like that big scale of yours."

  Lilith assured him,

"Yeah, don't worry, you sinless newborns are too easy to recognize.

Now, can I ask some questions with my new 'security' access?"

  "Ask away."

Lilith first asked about the sealed realm's current condition.

"What you were wearing before was made of 'Fate', right?

So I assume you purified some of the sealed spheres and brought out those essence laws?"

  "Not some, all of them.

I needed to buy some time with those pearls.

So, in the meantime, I released the essence law too and got some more useless raw Fate."

  Lilith furrowed,

"Wouldn't that make the realm between to be meaningless?

I'm pretty sure if you really did that,

The underworld would go 'up' to merge with world law above.

And what do you mean by 'buy time'?"

Little Mortal placed down his empty tea cup, poured another more, and said,

"How about we show our records of the trip to level 3 civilization?"

  Lilith was surprised,

  "So I finally became qualified?"

  Little Mortal nodded,

"Yes, you need to know about what we saw there to understand why I cleared the sealed realm, and why I need a Newborn detector.

But first, you should promise me to hold your anger.

I tell you when you can release it later."

  Lilith furrowed,

"Don't tell me all three ancient ones were traitors?"

  Little Mortal shook his head,

  "No, it's actually the opposite.

None of them was a traitor."

Lilith was surprised and even happy,

  "Isn't that a good thing?

  Why would I get angry?"

What can make her angry if her old comrades were loyal to their responsibilities?

  Little Mortal chuckled,

  "Just watch.

  You will know soon."

Lilith nodded and agreed not to get angry.

"Alright, I promise to control myself."

  Little Mortal tapped his crystal,

  "Show her the records."

And the Crystal sent her everything they saw there.

  Lilith watched the videos carefully.

  She saw the advanced civilization.

"So this is how level 3 civilization looks."

  The agents.

  The card vaults.

  The emergency meeting.

  "Interesting.

  Your guess was correct!

The sinners' race is still around...

Even Hypermind is a real entity."

  And,

  "Wait!

Hypermind can see through some secrets related to the future?

  That's why you destroyed everything?

You cleared out anything that could expose the current situation of the guardian territory?

But if that's true, Hypermind should have seen 'you' as the final obstacle, not the vulture..."

Then she went into deep thought, and her eyes suddenly shone,

"What it saw is a different future!"

  Little Mortal gasped,

"Partner, you'd better stop thinking right now!

You are going to reveal secrets you shouldn't!"

  Lilith ignored her and continued,

"No, wait, you cleaned up the guardian territory before any of these records!

How did you know Hypermind was seeing something related to your territory when you weren't aware of its ability yet?"

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

Little Mortal gasped for the second time,

"Okay, partner, you better stop being too smart..."

Lilith looked at him suspiciously, but because she could tell this was another 'classified' territory, she stopped asking further and watched the rest.

And what she saw next made her forget everything immediately, while her horns started burning in fire.

"Th-the agents were the ones impersonating the ancient ones all these years...?"

Little Mortal, who saw the floor start melting, slowly moved away with his chair.

And Lilith saw the second part that pushed her anger even further.

"They even have a fake underworld?

Even the three ancient ones think they were helping me all these years...?"

Now, even the citadel itself started resonating with her Queen's anger, and fire covered everything.

  Lilith was outraged now!

How could they be fooled by them for so many years?

And not only her, but also the other three were played by them!

As she felt she might lose control at any moment, a voice suddenly started whispering in her ears,

"Let the fire of anger fuel your hatred!"

And then a rusty armor appeared in front of her.

The voice that seemed to be familiar but bewitching whispered again,

"Release the fire of hatred in your heart!

Store it in this armor that carries the glory of the past!"

Lilith didn't know why, but she did as the bewitching voice said.

Her eyes started glowing red, and a black fire filled with hatred emerged from her body, merging with the rusty armor and bringing it back to life!

  The voice whispered again,

"This will be the armor of the one who represents you, and burn those who deceived you to ashes!

  Now!

Add some special effects to it so it looks cool!"

Lilith, while feeling slightly weird, did as she was told.

With a wave of her hand, the armor's eyes lit up, as if the owner's eyes inside it were burning with the fire of revenge.

  The voice whispered again,

  "That's not enough!

Put it on fire, and make it a blazing armor!

  After that,

Add some fire law technique that your representative can release!"

Lilith was going to do it, but as if the bewitching voice remembered something else, it added,

"By the way, your representative can't use law to activate the technique.

So make it in a way that can be activated using words.

  For example,

If he says, 'For my queen!', it activates!"

Lilith, while feeling even more confused, waved her hand, and three red circles were now shining brightly around the armor's left arm.

And then, with another wave, she set the armor on fire, making it a 'blazing armor'.

  The voice whispered,

"Are they area of effect attacks?"

  Lilith nodded.

  The voice whispered,

"Good, add 10 fireball attacks to the right arm too.

  Huge ones!

  Alright?

Think you want to burn a universe to ashes with them!

Put all of your remaining hatred into it!"

And Lilith did as she was told.

After that, she felt completely exhausted.

Even the underworld came to her support in the end, adding to the 'fuel of hatred'.

It was as if all of the hatred inside her was transferred into the armor in front of her.

Looking at the armor, it even made her shiver.

  What did she just create?

Who was the one whispering in her ears?

"Now let's talk about other special effects."

  The voice whispered again.

Lilith turned her head to the right, and saw a small but familiar head looking at the armor with excitement while whispering in her ears....

"Hurry, we have lots of other things that we need to-"

Little Mortal gasped when he saw her looking at him with a tired face, but said hurriedly,

"Oh... partner, it's good that you calmed down.

As you see, I used everything in my capability as a psychologist to help you go through this mental breakdown.

  No need to thank me."

And ran back to his seat while he kept glancing at the now shining armor on fire, with three rings of fire on its left arm, 10 fire dots on its right arm, and eyes burning with fire!

Lilith, who felt empty, took a deep breath.

She didn't even have the energy to be mad at what he did.

And to be honest, that actually helped her...

She shook her head and watched the rest of the records, and when she saw there was a lost part, she asked,

"What was behind the iron wall?"

She was referring to the wall where the agent, who pretended to be her, delivered the 'sinners'.

  "Not telling.

That's the highest classified information, only known to me."

  Lilith nodded.

After his sudden move on mainland and cleaning up everything without his birthday gifts knowing the reason,

Lilith knew that he was keeping a secret to himself that couldn't be shared.

Maybe what was behind this wall was part of it, too.

After watching the part that Little Mortal was looking for a way to cover his 'weakness' and ended up in the place that Agent 99 explained the 'season planets', Lilith nodded.

  "Good idea.

If you can kill all of the higher beings in secret challenges, win their universes, and save all of the newborns,

there won't be any other living creature outside of the universes that they can take 'hostage'.

But what about the 10 planets?

  Who do they belong to?

What if they take the creatures inside there as a hostage?"

Hearing her questions, Little Mortal froze.

  "I-I forgot about that..."

  Lilith was speechless.

She thought for a moment and said,

"That should be easy to take care of, though..."

The frozen Little Mortal ran to her side,

  "How?"

And Lilith rolled her eyes at him,

"How did you start your journey?

  Just do the same."

Little Mortal paused for a moment, and his eyes suddenly widened in shock!

  "Right!

I can become the planet guardian for all ten planets in secret!

  Good job, partner!"

Little Mortal took out his notebook and immediately added a new quest to become the planet guardian of the 10 planets while participating in the season.

After that, Lilith saw the information about different dimensions and how lower dimensions can't detect things from higher dimensions.

"So the dark world you took me into before is the highest dimension?

But how is this dark world helping you?"

Little Mortal pointed at the sky,

"I made a deal with it.

I paid it with the material inside those sealed spheres, and in return, it covers up for my activities related to the guardian territory.

The sealed realm that is now concealed is its doing."

  Lilith's eyebrows raised,

"You are telling me even the underworld and the world above don't know what you did inside?

That's why the two didn't merge?"

  Little Mortal chuckled,

  "Cool, huh?

That's how a higher dimension works.

No one can pry into my activities now, which means...?"

He waited for Lilith to answer.

"You are going to kill everyone in level 3 civilization as a guardian.

And to not make others suspicious, and be exposed by that information law that even we ancient ones were easily fooled by, you are going to participate in this 'game' to kill everyone freely,

Meanwhile, the dark world law covers all your activities, and even those whom you kill don't know they lost their universe!

It even helps when you try to become the planet guardian!"

  Little Mortal started clapping.

  Lilith was speechless.

"How are you going to join their game without being suspected?

You said the whole level 3 civilization is in another dimension.

So, how can someone from the underworld suddenly appear there?

There is no 'real' lava sea there.

Even though nobody knows, the agents know..."

Little Mortal looked at Lilith and said,

"I thought you were as smart as I.

  Thank goodness, you aren't..."

  And sighed in relief.

  Lilith gritted her teeth.

She knew he already had a way.

  "Alright, what's next?"

Little Mortal stood up, picked up his armor, and said,

"I go for a round of preparation there.

We have less than 14 days until the start of the new season.

So I go there, and when the preparation is done, I come pick you up."

  But Lilith stopped him,

  "No way!

  We are going together!

Isn't it better to identify the newborns in these 2 weeks if you want to search that place?"

Little Mortal paused for a moment and then nodded,

  "Alright.

Is everything you want to bring with you in your citadel?"

Lilith, who didn't know why he asked that, said,

"My citadel is empty, and I don't need to bring anything specific..."

  And saw Little Mortal disappear.

While not knowing where he went, she felt her citadel start trembling.

Then, to her horror, a huge hand, far bigger than her citadel, actually picked up the citadel!

For the first time in her life, Lilith felt God was real, and this was the Hand of God!

  But,

The owner of the giant hand said, "Alright, let's go.",

and placed the citadel on his massive shoulder, beside his giant ears.

After freezing on the spot for a while,

And using her brain in full capacity to connect the dots, Lilith finally understood what happened.

  Her partner was the giant.

Her citadel was now shrunk, and so was she...

This was Mortal's unlocked ability at level 100,000.

And this was the way that she was probably going to travel with him as the 'Newborn detector' from now on...

Lilith didn't know if she should feel good for going on a dangerous trip so comfortably in her own citadel, or feel worried about being tiny...

But when she tested herself, to her surprise, she didn't feel any change in power.

It was only a change in size.

Then she heard the now giant mortal say,

"This is the sealed area if you want to take a look."

Lilith walked to the 'balcony', and saw the empty sealed realm with only some pearls in a corner and a crystal shining between them...

  The scene changed again.

Now they were in a dark world.

  "You remember this place.

We go to level 3 civilization from here.

I bought this place's service with the materials that those spheres were made of."

Lilith saw a golden ball on the ground and asked,

"T-that ball wasn't here the last time you brought me here..."

  The giant mortal nodded,

"That's the reward I received for bringing back the stolen essence law inside the sealed realm.

But because 'my activity' is hidden currently,

World law and underworld law don't know about this matter either."

Lilith couldn't look at the 'Fate reward' as usual and felt her eyes tear up again.

She understood that these were the clothes and jewelry the great elder had worn not long ago.

Now it was turned into a ball...

While she didn't know if this was a disrespect towards Fate or not, she told about her guess,

"Partner, if I'm not wrong, you can use this Fate reward to make wishes.

And from the amount, I think even making big wishes is fine.

I think this reward was initially meant to be a way for the one who releases the essence law to have direct contact with Fate and ask for a certain inevitable future.

This chunk of fate was actually left behind for such a reason from the start, and that's why it's separated from Fate, and I couldn't feel it at all."

  Little Mortal gasped in shock,

"You mean I can make a wish, then this separated part of the Fate will be used, and that wish becomes an inevitable future?"

  "Yes."

Little Mortal scratched his head and said,

"Well, Fate is operating in a dimension that is useless to me with Hypermind as the opponent.

Only Dark World is trustworthy in this case."

Lilith didn't completely understand what he meant.

She didn't know Fate was already a fallen snitch in Little Mortal's eyes, and any wish might be seen by hypermind, and even backfire.

  The scene changed again.

Now they were back on the silver platform of planet Lubo.

Little Mortal found the motionless guardian token and said,

"Mr. Token, can I issue a worldwide challenge?"

The guardian token, as if communicating with world law, after a brief moment, said,

[ If it's challenging other mainlands, it will be voted on, and the mainland managers will participate in voting.

If it's a challenge to other universes, all of the creatures in our current universe need to vote. ]

  Little Mortal scratched his head,

  "Well... Let's try it.

If they didn't vote for my proposal, I have no choice but to accept their choice.

Our guardian territory is ruled by democracy, not dictatorship, like someone's underworld.

If people don't want it, then we, the servants of the people, can't do otherwise, and we can only accept their decision."

And with cold threatening eyes, that made Dictator Lilith and the birth treasures shiver, said,

  "World law, bro, it's me.

  Do you remember?

  Your favorite guardian, Mortal.

I want to challenge every universe owner I encounter from now on as the secret guardian.

  What do you say?"

The managers who suddenly received the news of 'worldwide request' that might be on a vote, saw the ultimate tyrant looking at the sky with cold eyes!

They knew if his proposal didn't get enough votes, he might do something that would cause all of them to have a heart attack.

So they hurriedly tried to influence everyone and force all of the low-level creatures who were easy to manipulate to vote for whatever this little monster wanted.

  But,

  They found out they can't!

Only now they remembered the new 'privacy law', which prohibited everyone from even looking at others' private lives, let alone such an extreme action.

  The sky turned dark.

The world law's emotionless voice sounded,

[ To all of the creatures residing in the guardian territory.

Your guardian is requesting a worldwide challenge.

Your universe will be used as a bet.

If he wins, a universe will be added to the guardian territory.

If he loses, the guardian territory will be paid as the price.

Do you agree with such a bet?

  Yes :

  No :   ]

The managers knew it was too late now and could only leave everything to Fate.

Little Mortal looked nervously and muttered,

  "Am I popular enough?"

Lilith, on his shoulder, looked at him in disbelief,

"You really don't know if you are popular or not?"

And Little Mortal shook his head,

"No, I didn't have time to go anywhere except my little brother's empire, and - wow!

  Look look!

I had so many fans and I didn't even know?"

Trillions of yes votes were registered in a short moment, and the count was increasing every second.

There was only a little more than 200,000 'No'.

Lilith, who saw him excited, nodded to herself.

'I always forget that he can't sense what he can't 'see'.

No wonder he doesn't know that he is actually being worshipped like a God between low-level creatures...'

Lilith didn't know that the others never told him about that because they knew he was sensitive about 'God' and those who claimed to be or acted like one.

They were his enemy by default.

What would happen if they told him he himself is like a 'God' in the eyes of everyone?

He would probably lash out at 'everyone'...

[ Guardian Mortal, your request has been accepted.

The vast world will be your challenge ground, and all of the universe's owners are your opponents. ]

The sky turned back to normal when the world announced the vote results.

But Little Mortal was now looking at the birth treasures with a deep frown.

  The backpack trembled, asking,

Little Mortal, with a serious tone, said,

"I want a list of those who voted 'No'.

I want to know who they are.

  Where do they live?

And everything about their family members.

  And then -"

He didn't finish his sentence and just made a 'cutting-neck' move, meaning they need to be silenced.

  The backpack trembled, saying,

  And Little Mortal snorted coldly,

"Looks like you don't know about my real identity.

My real name is actually... Madolf Mitler!"

And he himself gasped in shock, as if he had said something unbelievable.

  Lilith coughed and said,

"I think you misunderstood the ones who voted No.

Maybe they didn't have any other choice..."

  Little Mortal was shocked,

"They were taken hostage and forced to vote no?

  No way, right?

Is there a third party involved?

  A rebellion is taking place?"

Lilith stopped his imagination from going wild,

  "Calm down, partner!

  They weren't taken hostage.

  Did you forget about Newborns...?"

  Little Mortal slapped his forehead.

"How could I forget about them?

Anything with the possibility of harming others is a 'No' to them.

These pitiful bunch... Even knowing about the true power of their boss, they can't deny what their nature orders them..."

And while shaking his head, he went to the backpack and kicked it.

"Big guy, hand over the cards."

And a small mountain of cards fell on him from the sky.

  The backpack trembled, saying,

< Kick me one more time and I'll break your leg!>

And naturally, an emergency live stream of a one-sided fight starts playing for everyone to watch.

Guardian Mortal VS the big mouth backpack, which wanted to try the power generated by the +3 million universe.

And naturally, the one-sided fight, with Guardian Mortal's victory, ended.

After that, Little Mortal shrank all of the cards and gave them to Lilith to keep them in her citadel.

"Partner, how about we use your citadel as our headquarters?"

Only now did Lilith understand why he brought the citadel with them...

  "Alright..."

  What else could she say?

After packing up the cards, Little Mortal asked the lifeless backpack to form a chain with the silver platform for the citadel, creating a necklace.

Then he said to the guardian token,

"Mr. Token, ask world law to let everyone's resurrection resume, but pause the resurrection before it's completed.

I want them all to resurrect at the same time when the time comes."

The guardian token's mechanical voice sounded,

  [ Request has been sent.

  3 yes votes.

  Request has been accepted.

All of the universe owners and mainland managers will be ready to resurrect in 75 days.]

  Little Mortal nodded,

"Alright, nothing else left here to do.

  I'm leaving, bye."

  And disappeared.

  ......

  Dark world.

Little Mortal was now running back to level 3 civilization.

  On the way, Lilith said,

"We are out of guardian territory, and I'm back to level 10, and now I can't make a move if needed.

I need a 'reason' for that."

  Little Mortal, while puzzled, said,

"You have a mobile territory with you, just - oh wait!

You don't know how my body works.

Little crystal shows the information about Grvastars to my partner."

While curious about what he was talking about, Lilith looked into the information.

  After a while,

"You have a universe as a body?

And I can connect to my territory using it?"

  Little Mortal smiled arrogantly,

  "Cool, huh?"

But Lilith, who just tried it and immediately became Eminence manager again, was thinking about something else now.

"What if I go inside your body through your ears?

Can I open a gate to the underworld there while I'm small like this?"

  Little Mortal gasped,

"And you can open another gate from the underworld to the silver platform if it works!

This way, we don't need to worry about where to send the normal creatures or newborns that we save!

Go in, give it a try!"

  Seeing him excited, Lilith asked,

"Won't I be devoured or crushed in there?"

And Little Mortal shook his head,

"Don't worry, inside my body is part of the guardian territory, Frontline effect works fine there."

Lilith nodded and entered his ears cautiously.

A moment later, a dark world unfolded in front of her.

There was nothing here, except a single flickering light far away, and a familiar smell.

Lilith could tell at one glance that if she went towards that light, she would never come back from there.

It gave her the feeling of a one-way path.

And the smell... It reminded her of a memory from a long, long time ago.

When she was still in the world above, and responsible for cleaning up evil birth treasures.

In one of her encounters, she didn't arrive in time, and the evil birth treasure devoured the life force of the higher being from that incomplete universe.

After she destroyed the evil birth treasure, she saw the higher being still standing there, as if still alive.

Curious, she tapped his shoulder to ask if he was fine.

But the body of that higher being turned to dust, and with a breeze, it disappeared in the wind.

On that day, for the first time in her life, she smelled a unique fragrance from the ashes of that incomplete higher being.

The smell was so good and unique that she never experienced it again in her life.

That memory, and that 'unforgettable fragrance', was buried in her memories for eons, until today.

  She remembered that day,

When she talked about her experience to the rest of the ancient ones, only the oldest member of the group, the Old Man in White Armor, 'Seraphion', who experienced it before, gave her an answer,

"Most of the time, the evil birth treasure devours the incomplete higher being completely, that's why it is so rare to come across such a case that the body is still intact.

And what you experienced was the farewell of a creature who 'never sinned' with the world.

I assure you, Lilith, that smell will be an unforgettable memory for you that remains with you forever."

  Lilith knew what he meant.

Seraphion was saying in a fancy way that it was the smell of a dead, incomplete higher being.

Thinking about how strong and healthy this 'never sinned' rascal was, Lilith ignored her memories.

How could he be a dying newborn? That was impossible.

She focused on what she came here for.

And sure enough, with a wave of her hand, a gate directly connected to the underworld opened.

To be sure, she went inside and, after confirming she was in the underworld, opened another gate connected to the silver platform to ensure it worked.

Seeing everything work as intended, she returned and moved towards the source of the sound in the darkness coming from outside.

  Seeing her coming out,

  Little Mortal asked in anticipation,

  "Did it work?"

  And Lilith nodded confidently.

Little Mortal took out his notebook and checked his quests.
