Mahito sat restful in his seat while riding in the vehicle, feeling that the vehicle teetered his existence on the fine line of prosperity and complete and utter doom.
Sounds perfect for someone who wants to retrospect on their life so far.
Unfortunately, there are more pressing matters at hand.
Mahito’s aspect being the main point of concern.
Thus, he opened his status window and went down the description of his aspect.
Peeking at his flaw, which was truthfully, the main quality he wanted to confront immediately.
Aspect: [Soul Savant]
Aspect Description: [You’re an existence intimately entwined with humanity itself, yet this bond only attributes contempt to you and your lonely being.]
Looks like the description doesn’t give much insight into what exactly his Aspect is connected to.
Well, moving onward.
Aspect Ability: [Soul Transfiguration]
Ability Description: [You hold an otherworldly perception into the soul of all living things. Your artistry is unmatched from where you derive, and what other purpose is there for an artist but to create a beautiful masterpiece. Mold them into any form you wish.]
Even looking at it now, Mahito stays awestruck by his particular Aspect Ability.
Not only are abilities to perceive or impact the soul are extremely rare, but the fact that Mahito’s particular ability seems to have very few upstart restrictions.
Things are never that simple, unfortunately.
That was made very clear with the corresponding flaw.
Flaw: [Man in the Mirror]
Description: [The origins of your birth stem from the mirth that humanity holds for itself. Your being is one that grapples with the dark inclinations that all of your Nursefathers and Nursemothers harbor.] You must apply your due diligence to not let these temptations consume you, less you desire to lose yourself.]
While another abstract description, the true nature of his flaw is quite apparent.
In the most extreme cases, his flaw could turn Mahito into a true monster in all contexts.
Much worse than the nightmare creatures that inhabit both the waking world, and the Dream Realm.
It’s a concerning thought indeed; the severity and impact of his flaw was only something that would make itself apparent in the times that matter most.
It was akin to a primordial fear that held itself deep in the fathoms of Mahito’s mind, awaiting its act of consuming him at his weakest.
It’s truly a despicable flaw to compliment his incredible ability.

While the active applications of his aspect were more than any awakened would or could ask for.
The true Crème de la crème of Mahito’s aspect were actually the passive abilities that came from it.
Mainly the perception into the most intimate part of any living creature: Their soul.
It was quite a surreal sensation.
The best way to describe it is akin to being able to smell color, or see sound.
Maybe that’s…a bit of a stretch.
It’s like being able to see the subtle notes that aren’t easy to perceive without looking in.
Mahito was able to get more attuned with the subtle nuances that came with viewing different peoples souls.
Some souls were faint or boisterous, some were even and unmoving, while some were frail and unstable.
This was the conclusion that he was able to come to during the duration of his ride to the Awakened Academy.
The most integral insight that came from his enhanced perception was something that he couldn’t quite elaborate on concretely.
He knew that there was an extra layer that he could just barely perceive, yet eludes him with the grace of a trained acrobat.
He had a few theories on what that feeling could be trying to convey to him, but ultimately decided to delay any hasty conclusions for the time being.
Fortunately, that wasn’t the last of what his aspect had to offer.
Now, let’s move onto attributes.
[Spark of Depravity] and [Spark of Divinity] both seem to derive from the same pool.
The former seems to be a bit more unique than the latter, shockingly enough.
The descriptions go as followed
Attribute: [Spark of Depravity]
Description:[ Every flame starts with a spark. Somewher deep within your soul, a coalesecnt spark of something long lost to time emanates within your soul.]
Attribute:[Spark of Divinity]
Description: [Every fire starts from a spark. Somewhere deep within your soul, a radiant spark shines with divine light.]
The spark of divinity was pretty obvious to decipher. The orthodox gods are commonplace even for the general populace.
Though, it would be helpful to look into which divinity Mahito’s spark descends from in specific.
What really is vexing is the “long forgotten” spark that currently inhabits the depths of his soul.
The description is vague, even under the standards of the nightmare spell.
Unfortunately, It’s unlikely that Mahito will be able to learn about its origins for quite a long time.
Finally, moving onto his two innate abilities.
Innate ability:[Soul consumption]
Ability Description: [Allows the user to absorb the soul shards of the creatures in which they mold.]
The description of the skill was both very simple, yet complex in application.
It can be deduced that it has to do with a direct application of Mahito’s aspect ability.
He’ll have to find somewhere to practice.
And finally…
Innate ability: [Soul Splitter]
Ability Description: [You hold an innate comfort from the days in which you were fragmented. You are able to split your soul into multiple pieces.]
‘Now we’re talking!’
Soul splitter has a multitude of potential applications if the description of the ability is as free as its use.
It does leave one to question if the ability has any potential adverse side effects from using it.
Overall, Mahito was endowed with quite the diverse and versatile skill set.
He was a swiss army knife of sorts
Now that he has a decent grasp into the inner mechanics of his aspect, now his main goal is to ready himself for the many challenges that he will face.
