“Oh,” Samsara said. “I can’t exactly kick them.”
“You don’t need to kick them,” I said, hands on my hips. “You can kick or throw them. Be creative!”
Samsara slithers over to the building on the right, leaning down to inspect it. “Uh… it doesn’t have any people, right? I’d rather not be wasteful.”
“Nope,” I said, moving next to her. “Everyone should already be crammed inside the bunkers. You won’t have to worry about wasting food.”
Samsara reached out with her clawed hands, grabbing the building and slowly ripping it off the ground. Her eyes scanned the windows as she hissed her tongue. Nothing was there except abandoned offices.
She began closing her claws around the building. Glass shattered, and concrete crumpled as Samsara’s fingers applied more and more pressure. Soon, nothing but small crumbs of rubble were left in her hands.
“Yes!” I cheered her on. “Fuck yeah, Samsara! Crush the other one too!”
“I… uh… okay!” She perked up, still slightly shy about the destruction she caused. Samsara slithered over to the other building. “I wonder how powerful my breath is.”
Samsara leaned down so that her head was as close to the ground as possible. The building was still smaller than her head. She blew at the building, as if she were cooling soup. Not that she could eat soup.
The glass immediately burst and flew away into a bajillion tiny pieces. To be fair, I didn’t actually count, but it must have been a lot.
“Whoa!” Samsara said. “Did you see how the windows didn’t even stand a chance against my breath?”
I nodded. “You should try blowing at it as hard as you can. I bet you could do some serious damage.”
“Sure.” Samsara set her shoulders, took a deep breath, and blasted the building with the most enormous huff she had.
The entire structure ripped clean of its foundation and soared through the air as it got caught in a tornado. It pinwheeled across the outpost, crashed into the ground, leaving a pile of disintegrated concrete and rebar.
Samsara stared, stunned. Then, I felt a tiny giggle in her mind.
“That… was actually really fun.”
“It’s definitely fun,” I said. “Plus, I’m so proud of you for enjoying your first Kaiju rampage.”
Her cheeks turned pink. “Ramona… you’re proud of me?”
I wrapped both arms around her waist. “Yep! And I will give you a congratulatory hug to celebrate.”
“Thanks,” She said, smiling and hugging me back.
After a few seconds, I disengaged from the hug. It was time to feast. Below us, two concrete slabs separated each bunker.
“Maybe… we don’t rip the whole slabs this time,” she suggested. “If there are Monster Purifiers with those beam guns down there, then maybe only my snakes should go in since they have hardened scales.”
“That’s a good idea,” I mentally nodded. “Let’s go with that.” To be fair, I doubt the beam guns would do any damage to us. On the other hand, I wanted to let Samsara have fun.
I activated [Color Camouflage II] on each of her snakes. This would serve two purposes. The first was to confuse the Monster Purifiers about why the bunker's ceiling suddenly got punctured by invisible objects. If they didn’t fire on us, then maybe this might be useful against more Unbound. However, that was more for the possibility of Unbound hiding in the bunkers. Given that Azar and Seraphina attacked us, and they were both Unbound, it was unlikely there would be any of them here.
The other purpose was that I enjoyed Samsara’s hair snakes picking up prey while invisible. They couldn’t even see the snakes coming; they were just being lifted into the air, paralyzed by venom, and then eaten.
Samsara focused on her hair snakes, forcing them to ram through the bunker slab on the right. Each of them charged at the slab, easily breaking into the bunker. Light slipped in since the snakes were invisible. Both slabs covered the same space below, since the bunker was actually located beneath both buildings.
Like the other bunker, there were over 20 humans crowded together. Two of them, both women, wore the blue Latex Suits the Monster Purifiers wore, and each of them had a beam rifle.
One raised her weapon. “What hell was that?! Some kind of illusion effect? Why the fuck did three random holes just show up in the ceiling?”
“No illusion!” the other yelled. “Remember, they said it was a Kaiju on comms, not an Aberration. It must be partly invisible. Open fire!”
Both aimed at the ceiling and began blasting. Their blasts hit two of Samsara’s hair snakes. They felt a bit warm. That’s all. Their puny little weapons did nothing against Samsara’s hardened scales.
“Huh?” one of them asked. “Why are our blasts just stopping in the middle of the air?”
Before the other one could respond, the invisible snakes snapped forward, engulfing them completely. I felt them try to squirm and scream, but venom was quickly pumped into their bodies, paralyzing them. The snakes then swallowed.
The third hair snake targeted a woman wearing a gray vest, lifting her into the air and making her disappear into its jaws.
Suddenly, a fun idea popped into my mind.
“Hey… I can try using my hair tentacles to feed your snakes.”
I felt her mind wander for a couple of seconds as her hair snakes gobbled up another three humans.
If you come across this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen from Royal Road. Please report it.
“Okay,” she said firmly. Excitement was bubbling up inside of her. “Let’s try it.”
I grinned and sent my hair tentacles ramming through the concrete slab. The scientists and gray vested grunts panicked and went to the corners of the bunker. Samsara’s hair snakes hissed, smelling the fear oozing off of all their bodies. My mouth watered. But I was going to feed my best friend right now.
My seven free hair tentacles shot downward, each one grabbing a human and lifting them into the air. I dropped [Color Camouflage II], allowing them to see the giant snakes I was going to feed them to. Each of them screamed as they ascended into the air.
Samsara had each hair snake open its maw. Three of my tentacles dropped a human inside each one. The snakes closed their mouths, bit their prey, and sent them into a sleep-like state before swallowing.
We quickly emptied the bunker of its human occupants.
“How did you like me feeding your hair snakes?” I asked.
“It felt pretty good,” she said, her cheeks reddening.
“Aww… you’re blushing,” I giggled in her mind.
“No, I’m not!” she said, turning away from me.
I moved to her side and cupped her cheeks with my hands. “They look pretty red to me.”
“Liar,” she said. “You can’t see my cheeks because you just covered them up.”
I released my hands from her cheeks. “What about now?” Samsara’s face looked like she had turned into a tomato.
“Fine,” she said. “I like it.”
“Yay!” I cheered in her mind. I wrapped her in a hug. “We should finish eating everyone.”
“Yeah,” Samsara said, a smile forming on her face. She truly was embracing her predator instincts.
I strided over to the next corner. Over here, there was a small one-story building. A salty, metallic smell emanated from it. I lifted the building off the ground with a hair tentacle and held it over my mouth. I opened wide and dropped the building. My teeth easily tore through the walls and windows, and the sound of glass shattering brought euphoria to my mind.
It wasn’t the best flavor. Not by a long shot. Nowhere near humans or monster girls. But the novelty? Eating a whole damn building? It was fucking awesome.
“Ramona, the building eater,” Samsara said.
“Do you want to try eating buildings?” I asked. “I can cut them up for you.”
“Nah,” Samsara said. “They don’t taste as good as meat.”
“Fair point,” I said. “Then, let’s eat some meat.”
We repeated the same process as before. I made Samsara’s hair snake invisible via [Color Camouflage II], and her snakes ate the guards with the annoying beam guns. After that, I fed the remaining grunts and scientists to her hair snakes using my hair tentacles.
We ate them all, except for two bearded scientists who escaped through a tunnel that went in the direction of the last bunker.
I sighed. “Really?” The two had gotten out of there while I was feeding Samsara. I should have blocked it off.
One of Samsara’s hair snakes went down and hissed inside the hole. The snake was too big to fit inside, as only its tongue fit, but it could smell the scent of flesh salt nearby. It was slowly getting away.
“Crap! Crap! Crap!” A male voice yelled while jogging across the tunnel. He continued to curse as Samsara directed her hair snake to line up its right eye with the tunnel entrance. I could see them running away.
It was time for Ramona, the concrete digger. I stabbed my [Serrated Tentacles] into the earth and began excavating. The concrete quickly gave way to dirt, which I also dug out. I then spotted a cylindrical steel structure embedded in the deep bedrock.
My tentacles tore into the tunnel, light breaking through. I spotted the two scientists running away. I grabbed both of them with my tentacles and brought them up to my mouth. I plopped both of their screaming bodies in and began to chew. My tongue tasted their salty flesh and metallic blood.
I tore up the rest of the tunnel, making sure the next bunker had no escape. As the tunnel was destroyed, we moved over to the last corner of the outpost. A huge 40 story building with shining steel was placed here. Well, huge compared to humans. It only reached the tip of our collarbones. It was full of offices. Hopefully, this meant the bunker below was full of humans. I sniffed and smelled a more substantial presence of salt than in the other bunkers.
“Hey, Samsara, want a hug?” I asked—a smirk formed on my face.
Her eyes opened as she realized what I meant. “You want us to destroy the building by hugging it?”
“Yep!” I said. “A Kaiju-sized hug!”
“I’m up for more hugs,” Samsara said. Hooray!
We got on opposite sides of the building. I wrapped my arms around the building, my hands grasping onto Samsara’s shoulders. She did the same. We slowly moved our bodies closer together.
Our bodies pressed against the gleaming glass and steel. Our chests pressed in, and the reinforced steel groaned. First, a low shuddering whine, then a deep, cracking thunder. Windows burst in gouts of shattered glass, raining down to the ground below as our weight bore into the frame. I could feel each floor surrender in sequence, walls bowing outward, ceiling tiles collapsing, and tumbling in a cloud of dust. Desks, chairs, partitions all vanished between our bodies, snapped and shredded into splinters and bent rebar, pulverized by the impossible force of two 150-meter-tall Kaiju’s sharing a hug.
The center of the building caved in, and an avalanche of steel beams and concrete slabs cascaded down as our bodies connected. Elevator shafts buckled, cables snapped, and entire rows of offices compressed into nothing. I brought my legs closer to Samsara, and she moved her tail closer to me. Our abs grinded against the middle floors. Glass shattered across Samsara’s scales, and steel crumpled against the force of my legs and lower torso.
We both giggled as we completed our hug. And then we heard a creak. It seemed the giant concrete slab covering the bunker below us couldn’t handle our weight. We quickly moved off of it. It would be a bad idea to crush our food.
I made Samsara’s hair snakes invisible, and they dashed towards the bunker, breaking through the slab. There must have been over 50 humans here. Surprisingly, there were no Monster Purifiers with beam guns. I began feeding Samsara’s hair snakes with my hair tentacles, and also took a small portion of humans to chew on.
I licked my lips as I swallowed the crushed remains of the last scientist.
Only the middle buildings of the outpost remained, such as storage sheds, offices, and the hangars storing the juggernauts. We smashed them, tossed them, and crushed them until the entire base was flattened into a smooth, ruined field, with four deep holes marking the bunkers full of snacks we’d emptied.
The five juggernauts remained.
“I’ll finish those,” I said, scooping up the immobile vehicles with my hair tentacles. I chewed on each one like a sandwich. Sadly, unlike a sandwich, it didn’t have tasty meat inside. But it was way more crunchy than a sandwich. I felt the thrill of chomping through metal and rubber tires.
Finally, all that was left were the remains of Mech Sparkles. Unlike the other mechs, I hadn’t eaten it completely. The broken lightning spark gun lay slumped to the side, its limbs thick with dried, gray residue. It stunk.
“Maybe Nilo, Kanes, and Atgo can use it,” Samsara said. “They seemed pretty smart.”
“Good idea,” I said. And this would cause them to have a more positive opinion of us. Hopefully, this meant they would turn into our worshipers.
I picked up each limb and inspected it. Each limb was hollow, with gray liquid dripping onto the concrete ground. Nothing was bright, and nothing smelled like a bomb. It should be safe to take home. I did the same for Sparkles' broken mech gun. Deep gashes were on its side. Hopefully, the chimera girl could salvage something useful from it.
We turned to leave the outpost behind. And there, still frozen in place like a broken statue, Seraphina stared blankly at the ground. Tears poured from her eyes, falling far to the concrete below.
I ignored her and moved on.
We had just finished our first rampage.
