167. They Would Love it! (Book Three)

Dark-colored dirt and dust rose up all around the chaotic battlefield as the result of Rick’s attack dissipated slowly.

In the area around him, there was a significant lack of life, as all the beasts that were nearby met a grim fate—even though the attack wasn’t aimed at them.

Since any attack that could cause significant damage to a beast of the Sixth Tier would simply be cataclysmic to anything below that.

The rest of the battlefield was in an almost dazed state for a moment until Commander Meegra bellowed out,

“THEY ARE STILL COMING!! FOCUS ON THE ENEMY!!”

That snapped the Goblins in the area back to attention.

Meegra wouldn’t be too hard on them though, as she was partially caught up in staring at the sight in front of her as well.

And how could she not? She, a Goblin of the Fifth Tier. A powerful Maglin that could cause massive amounts of damage and destruction—not just with her mana and wind element, but even her physical body had gone through multiple evolutions by now and wasn’t weak in the slightest.

Weaker than a Goblin like Rogu perhaps, but not weak.

Yet she wouldn’t need someone else to tell her that the attack Rick just used was stronger than anything she could produce without burning her mana and crippling herself—or worse—for one final attack.

Yet her King had just gone and smashed a beast that would’ve threatened the entire front in one blow without much issue.

  It was awe-inspiring.

There wasn’t a shadow of a doubt that every single Goblin who got to witness that would remember it forever.

And every Goblin who didn’t see would practically inflate with jealousy and curse everyone who was there.

Meegra was glad she was one of the ones who bore witness to the prowess of the King.

  Meanwhile…

  ‘Shit, did I get it?’

[Your essence jumped up in number, so I’d say you did.]

  Rick grinned wildly.

‘That was a Tier Six, Velora! One damn blow and a Tier Six beast is dead!’

Stolen from its rightful author, this tale is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

[Do not let it get to your head and cause you to become careless. That’s how fatal mistakes happen.]

‘Don’t worry. I know all too well about not letting this get to my head. This was just a stray beast—we haven’t even fought one of the so-called terrors yet. But despite that, I will still allow myself to celebrate this small victory.

‘The quicker I can reach the Sixth Tier, the better.’

  [For the evolutions, I’m assuming.]

‘Yes. I can’t move the Chiefs to the Seventh Tier until I’m in the Sixth. The sooner we can get enough Goblins to Tier Seven, the sooner our security within the Dark Lands of Mir will further solidify and give us the ability to expand further out in Mir—and even outside of it slightly.’

[I see. Then you know what you have to do.]

  ‘Of course.’

Rick, who had long since repositioned away from the small crater the now-dead wolf-like beast now permanently dwelt in, had been fighting over weak beasts as he chatted with Velora.

He cleared a massive space around him with a sweeping swing of his spear and began yelling out orders.

“Chief Grul! I want a fresh group of Goblins here in the morning! I will be fighting here until then, so leave this front to me!”

Chief Grul wanted to protest, but he knew this wasn’t the time or the place to openly oppose the King for something like this. He would carry out his orders without fail, and then file a complaint later.

He was staunchly against leaving the King to hold the line on one front with just him and his Royal Guards. The Chief didn’t think that was enough support for the King in such a dangerous place. He knew the other Chiefs would agree, but the trouble would be to convince the King of this…

Anyway, while Chief Grul continued his thoughts, Rick’s voice continued to bellow.

“Commander Meegra, did you hear that? We’ll be fighting all damn night! Get your guards in order accordingly! Last I heard the Royal Guards were my sword, so I expect them to be sharp all damn night!”

  “YES, MY KING!”

After responding to Rick, Meegra turned to face the guards behind her, her hands never once stopping their seemingly constant hurling of wind blades.

“Did you all hear that?! The King expects us to be sharp!!

  “Who are we?!”

  “The King’s Sword!”

  “Who are we?!”

  “The King’s Shield!”

  “AND WHAT DO WE BELIEVE?!”

“DEATH IS A SMALL PRICE TO PAY!!!!”

“Good! Group 10, you will retreat and rest for 20 minutes, then afterwards you will relieve Group 9! Keep repeating this process for the entire night! We are the swords of the King, and our enemies will be cut down!

  “Am I understood?!”

  “YES, COMMANDER!!!”

An extremely motivated group of Goblins continued to rain down havoc on the enemies rushing into the maw of the Goblins.

Rick was at the forefront of this effort, and his spear never once stopped swinging.

And there wasn’t a single swing of his that didn’t inflict massive amounts of damage to anything that had the unfortunate reality of being within his range. There was no room for mercy or hesitation, and Rick never once showed either of them.

Not at the beginning, not in the middle of the night, and not even in the morning when a whole host of Goblins had now made their way to the front to relieve Rick and his Royal Guard.

If any of them were familiar with movies back on Earth, they would’ve all thought that they were witnessing the greatest fighting—and scenic fighting—scene that they had ever seen.

And it truly was like that.

Even if Rick wasn’t their King, and he was just another Goblin like the rest of them, the scene would have still been mesmerizing to witness as one Goblin treated the beasts that plagued them for all their lives as nothing but fodder.

But of course, this wasn’t just another Goblin.

  This was Rick.

  The King.

  …

  ….

  ‘Gang Green bitches!!!!!!’

[I wonder what they would say if they knew what you were thinking.]

  ‘THEY WOULD LOVE IT!’
