[Yes, your stats have risen significantly. And I’m sure you have noticed the two new additions.]

‘Yeah… this is nuts... wait, show me the stats of that Elf again, please.’

‘She still has higher stats than me overall, but wow… I’m not too far off, Velora… I’m not too far off!’

[Indeed. It might be safe to assume that you will surpass her on your Tier Six evolution.]

‘I think you’re right, but I’m going to stop thinking about it before I let my mind run wild and start imagining all sorts of crazy things.

‘Instead, two new skills? I thought they were supposed to be hard to get.’

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

[They are hard to get. You had to power through hours and hours of pain and literally evolve yourself into a King. Not a King through war and bloodshed. Not a King by being chosen by a group of people.

You are now a King down to your very blood and bones. I don’t think that’s something most people can accomplish quite so easily. Meaning this definitely wasn’t easy.]

‘Well, when you put it like that, there’s not much I can say now, can I.’

[I suppose not. Ready to see what they are?]

  ‘Please!’

  [Understood.]

{Will of the King} – Your Will is the Will of a Race. Your very presence will cause all Goblins to be naturally subservient to you. A smaller effect of the same nature will apply to all other beings below your Tier.

{Khaal’drez} – To incur your wrath is nothing but the folly of the foolish. Call upon a strike backed by the power of your blood as a King and strike down your enemies.

Note: At least 400 Mana is required to activate.

  ‘…Damn.’

[I believe the Will of the King is something that you can already do, but the effect of it has been solidified and heightened into a passive skill. Those that serve you and those that are beneath you will always feel the weight of your being.]

‘…Actually… isn’t that kind of bad? I don’t want the Goblins to feel uncomfortable while they’re around me.’

[Based on their behavior thus far, I think this feeling will make them feel better and safer in your presence rather than uncomfortable. A King should feel different. Better. It gives confidence.]

‘But I’m not better. They’re Goblins just like me.’

[I think you need a lesson on Kingship. I can only help you so much. Perhaps the Chiefs can give you a class on how to be a King so you don’t make them or yourself uncomfortable.]

‘You know, part of me wants to shoot that idea down… but you might be right. A lesson on Kingship, eh. I’ll ask them about it… and in that same breath, I need to find my way to the front as soon as possible. I can barely hold back from running off and trying that second skill right this second.

‘It sounds sooo poetic! But like, in a dangerous you-will-certainly-die kind of way.’

[It does sound like you would cause quite a bit of damage. Though it’s important to keep the mana requirement in mind when using it. Even at full capacity, you can only use it three total times.

Using it as a trump card is likely your best bet, but at the same time I wouldn’t recommend doing so without leaving yourself some wiggle room to do other things in case the attack doesn’t finish your intended target.]

‘Yeah, of course. But I’ll know how best to handle it once I get a proper test in.’

  [Also, your age changed.]

‘It did, didn’t it. That means I can finally drink now.’

  [Drink what?]

‘Ah, it’s just a joke. Don’t worry about it.’

  Knock Knock

  “My King?”

  ‘That’s Galgo, right?’

  [Yes.]

‘What would I do without you, Velora.’

  [Great question.]

  ‘Ahem.’

  “Yes, Chief Galgo?”

“Forgive the interruption, My King. I simply wanted to check on your well-being. If there is nothing you need, I will leave you to rest, Sir.”

“Ah, there’s no need for that. Give me a sec, I’ll be out soon.”

  “As you wish, My King.”

  ‘Alright, let’s get dre—Velora.’

  [Yes?]

‘When were you going to tell me the tattoos look different?’

  [It slipped my mind.]

  ‘…

‘…Velora, my tattoos are quite literally a whole different color! They’re red! And it looks like they’re alive! Why are they moving and seemingly pulsating with energy? Why is it only now that my mind decides to make me aware of the energy moving within them?’

[Yes, blood-red tattoos that move are definitely eye-catching. Not sure how I missed it.]

‘…I know you’re doing this on purpose.’

  […It was a nice surprise.]

  ‘I knew it!’

  …

“Thanks for checking on me, Chief Galgo. Is everything alright?”

  “Ah… Ye—Yes, Sir!”

‘What the hell. Why is he freaking out?’

[Remember your new skill, Rick. And the fact you look a bit different.]

‘Oh. Yeah, I suppose there’s that.’

“Are you sure everything is alright, Chief Galgo?”

“Yes, Sir. Please forgive my earlier behavior.”

“That’s alright. Have all the other Chiefs left already?”

“No, Sir. Everyone is still gathered in the meeting room. We were discussing a few things to present to you when you were ready.”

“Good, then I’m ready right now. Let’s go.”

‘How was that, Velora? Very Kingly, right?’

  [You still need lessons.]

  ???

Rick, the now King of Goblins, followed after Chief Galgo, who led him to the meeting room with awe in his heart.

Of course, when Rick fell unconscious, all of the Chiefs had seen his new blood-red markings and reacted to them, but what they hadn’t felt at the time was the presence that Rick now carried.

While the evolution was complete, Rick’s body was in a state of heavy recovery, and no energy was wasted in accomplishing that.

But now that he was back to 100% health… his presence as a King weighed down on the entire building quite heavily.

And when standing next to Rick, that presence only increased even further.

Though there was not a single Goblin who could complain about it.

The presence itself didn’t feel oppressive to them. If anything, Velora was spot-on, because to the Goblins it simply felt comforting.

Like they were always in the presence of a protector against their enemies and troubles.
