151. You Were Saying? (Book Three)

Rick and his entourage of Goblins eventually reached the Central Clan.

It was the biggest Clan in all of the Dark Lands of Mir, and it boasted the highest number of Goblins in total.

Krell only greeted Rick with around 100 Goblins. Not necessarily a little, when considering Rick woke up in a Tribe with not even 30 Goblins, but in comparison to the Central Clan, both figures were simply paltry.

There were thousands of Goblins in the Central Clan alone.

  Thousands.

And every single one of them was now made aware of the arrival of the Future King of Goblins.

Rick, who had finally removed his cloak and left it in the Krell Clan, looked every bit the regal and royal Goblin he was.

Although he was still a Tier below all the Goblin Chiefs, none of them could match him in the air he gave off.

A tall, lean, and clearly powerful flame. It was as if he was designed for looks first and then power later.

He strode towards the crowded entrance of the Central Clan in a similar fashion to when he approached the Krell. General Lago and the others were behind him.

But it was only similar, not the same.

Mainly because Rick unconsciously let his presence seep into his steps as he approached the Clan, and he practically blanketed the area with all of his being.

He didn’t try to do it, but being so close to thousands of Goblins seemed to trigger some sort of presence-leaking bodily function, as he dubbed it to Velora.

Anyway, he finally neared the entrance to the Central Clan…

As with the behavior of the Krell, the Chief of the Central Clan stepped forward and took a knee, but unlike the Krell, who didn’t have a garrison of warriors at their disposal, the Central Clan possessed the Goblin Corps.

The largest Goblin military force in all of the Dark Lands of Mir.

And they were covered in armor.

So, when they took a knee behind their Chief, the noise of hardened leather slamming against the ground resounded in the area.

The noise seemed to heighten the magnificence of the atmosphere, and after a pointed moment was allowed to pass, the Central Clan’s Chief spoke up loudly.

“My name is Chief Gralgo, and I am the Chief of the Central Clan! The entire Clan humbly greets the Future King of Goblins! As the Clan who gave rise to the last King of Goblins many years ago, it is of great honor that we welcome another in our midst once more!

“May your reign bring a lifetime of prosperity to our people.

“And if anyone dares to stand in your way, then the Goblin Corps won’t know sleep until your enemies rest permanently!”

The members of the Goblin Corps roared in agreement as the words of the Chief lingered in the air for all to hear.

Rick paused as he took it all in.

Although he was still feeling the pressure of it all, he would be lying if seeing the grand display in front of him didn’t make him feel good inside.

All of these Goblins, all of their convictions, determination, and every single bit of belief and hope that they had in them was directed towards him.

Of course, it would make him feel not only good but also valued.

  POV Rick

‘Velora this feels good and all, but when do I tell them to stop and how the hell do we move from here? We haven’t even entered the Clan grounds yet.’

[You’re overthinking it. If you want them to stop whatever it is they're doing, just ask. Then if you want them to do something else, well… just ask again.]

‘You make it seem so simple…’

  [Cause it is.]

  ‘Sigh…

‘Alright, let’s slowly raise my hand to get them to stop. That’s worked for me so far. And it worked against General Lago that one time in the forest with the Elf, so it should work here.’

  Silence ensues…

  ‘Oh look, it worked.’

“I appreciate the loyalty that all of you have shown. I’m looking forward to calling this place home and cementing our hold in the lands of Mir. In the meantime, where can I get some food?”

  …

‘Well Velora, I’d say that went well enough.’

[It did. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Goblins move that fast before. You asked one question and it was like a war zone all of a sudden.

[There was barely any time for you to say another word before you were promptly led to this hall in the biggest building in the Central Clan and delivered a whole feast of food before you could say thank you. Honestly, it is very impressive. But see what happens when you just ask? If you didn’t realize you were a king before, then you’re sure going to realize it now.]

‘You’re not wrong, I guess. But eventually, we have to get down to business here. Once a few things are taken care of, the main focus will be going off to fight whatever it is they’re busy fighting out there and getting as strong as possible as quickly as I can.

‘I’m not in a rush to run off back to the Nameless Forest for revenge, but I don’t want another situation like that to happen again. With all of the Goblins we have here, and the fact that 14 Tier Six Chiefs are here as well, I know for sure we have a lot of firepower—but I have a sneaky suspicion that it still wouldn’t be enough to stop the Serpent.

‘And that’s just one being. These Goblins want safety, and I intend to give it to them.’

[That makes sense, but Rick, I think you’re forgetting the whole King part. You are now the highest administrator in the Dark Lands of Mir. There’s a strong chance that the Goblins will want to run a lot of decisions through you. Decisions that will have impact on thousands of Goblins. I know you want to get stronger, but don’t forget about everything else.]

‘Who knows? Maybe they don’t even want me to make any sort of big decisions at all? What if they just want me to focus on the whole being a powerhouse thing and then allow them to continue to run things as is? I’d honestly be fine with that.’

  Knock Knock

“Future King, this is Chief Galgo. All of the Chiefs have gathered, and when you’re ready we would like to meet with you to discuss many things.

Including the Royal Ritual, the current situation on the front, the Royal Retrieval Team, the status of the Clans, the transfer of leadership to you, and many other things.

A squad is stationed outside the door to respond to anything you need and to direct you to the meeting hall whenever you’re ready.”
