“Quiet.”
The barely audible chatter around the speaker, went mute after he spoke.
“There’s movement.”
He didn’t have to give a direction as to where the movement was coming from since the other two members of the three man cell knew exactly what he was referring to.
Of course it was the target of their recon mission.
The soft border between the Dark Lands of Mir and the wild lands around it. This three man cell was one of many different teams that have been monitoring the area over the past two years. For the first year and roughly 7-8 months, there wasn’t really much to see.
No Goblins or corrupted monsters left the Dark Lands of Mir for that entire time. It was mostly a boring recon, yet their superiors stayed adamant that it was necessary that all reconnaissance continued in full.
It was only the past couple of months that all the seemingly useless recon they’ve been all this time finally began to bear fruit.
There was only one recon team on watch at that time, and they almost missed it. A few Goblins had showed up, but before on-watch team could make any determinations regarding the power of the Goblins, they vanished from view.
That raised alarms. Significant ones.
All recon teams were made up of a three man cell. Two Tier Fours, and one Tier Five. It was a lot of power to watch some Goblins, and while the members thought it was a waste of resources, orders were orders, and they still got paid.
So, the fact that even the Tier Five member of the team on watch couldn’t track the Goblins, that meant only one thing. At minimum, the few Goblins they saw were all of the Sixth Tier…and that was at minimum.
There was somewhat of an understanding that Tier Five being would be able to at least track the direction someone in the Sixth Tier moved towards, especially one that trained in recon…but he hadn’t.
While Goblins above Tier Four were practically unheard of, there were at least confirmed sightings of ones at Tier Five and Six. No matter how sparse or old those sightings were, they were confirmed.
Yet despite that…there isn’t a single confirmed sighting of one at the Seventh Tier.
And although this one wasn’t confirmed either, the situational context around it raised enough alarms that all recon teams were now on watch around the lands that surrounded the Dark Lands of Mir at the same time.
No longer would only one cell be on watch while others rested or took time off.

“…They vanished once more.”
“Should we call it in Sir?”
The leader of the group went quiet for a few moments as he sorted through his thoughts.
“No. The other teams will do that…no need to add to the chatter. We will fall back to point 5 and verify that it’s still clear.”
One of the other members of the cell frowned slightly.
“Sir, isn’t that the location were three different teams vanished without a trace?”
“Yes. Which is why we will head there, I have a feeling that it has something to do with our target, but we have yet to find anything. Enough talking, move.”
And just like that three highly trained individuals dressed in all black attire, vanished from their locations and moved south towards the location marked as Point 5.
It was a point in the surrounding forest where a small lake sat peacefully outside of the Dark Lands of Mir. If it wasn’t for the close proximity to the Dark Lands of Mir, it likely would’ve already been developed into the a small town at some point.
But currently it had a separate use.
“Another squad of them are approaching. Rapidly.”
“Same as always. We will eliminate.”
While the recon team knew this location as Point 5, for the Goblins it was known as Green One. Named by Rick of course.
It was the location of their first outpost outside of the Dark Lands of Mir. After a lot of discussion with the rest of the Chiefs, it was decided that there would be two separate types of outposts. Green and Black.
While all outposts would do their best to remain unseen and out of harms way as best as possible, all Green outposts would welcome a bit more danger than their Black counterparts.
They decided that they would essentially serve as a dummy location and once to be sacrificed if it came to that. Meanwhile, Bravo locations would never risk any form of discovery no matter the circumstances.
The Goblins stationed in Goblin outposts were resolved to die to maintain the secrecy.
As it stands, there were currently two Green locations. Green One and Two. Located on completely opposite sides from each other. Green One was in the south, while Green Two was in the north.
Currently there was only one Black location, and a lot of work went into preparing it, and keeping it out sight. It was located directly east of the Dark Lands of Mir. Part of the preparation process was drawing attention away from the area, which was the cause of all the disappearances near Green One.
There were only three Goblins in total currently in Green One.
Which was nothing but a carefully dug hole big enough for about 5-7 Goblins at a time. Perhaps if they had to make the hole with nothing but shovels and hard labor, then not only would it have taken them longer, but the traces of a hole being dug would still be visible.
Instead this was a project for a couple Chiefs working together to create the space, a concealed entrance, and to hide every trace of their presence in the area. It barely took an hour for them to accomplish it under the watchful eyes of the recon teams in the area.
Now the three Goblins in Green One, were Chiefess Jluug, Chief Kog, and a general from the Pogra Clan.
Of course, for the three man cell that was nearing the area…only one Chief needed to act.
By the time Chiefess Jluug returned to Green One, the three man cell was no more. Everything down to their bodies and their possessions was eliminated, with nothing left behind in case of any advanced tracking in place.
“Good Job, We’ll handle the rest. Return to the King and give him an update. It might be time to begin phase two of the plan. We’ve killed enough of them to raise significant alarms by now. Soon, this place will be crawling with humans.”
Chiefess Jluug offered a simple nod to Chief Kog’s words and then quickly departed towards the Dark Lands of Mir.
If some of the other leaders on the continent knew that Rick was using powerful Tier Seven beings as outpost watchmen, a good portion of them would probably faint from anger and confusion.
Tier Seven beings playing the role of a scout…
That’s Rick the Goblin King for you.
