Chapter 36- Edwins Training

On Edwin's first day, Lucius just has him doing paperwork with him.

When Edwin looks annoyed, Lucius makes a comment.

"If we get done with the pile I've gotta catch up on by the time training's over, then we can spar or whatever, alright?"

Edwin sighs and looks over at the pile of papers, which is taller than him.

  "Okay, sure."

As Edwin rushes through some of the papers, he thinks of all the fun Darius is probably having, sparring with Jonah instead of doing paperwork.

After about a week of training, the paper pile is somehow almost taller than it was at the start.

When Edwin asks about it, Lucius, obviously tired of paperwork responds.

"That pile of paperwork is every single mission request, mission registry, completed mission, mail to any Knight, Knight injury, and Knight death."

"That's right, while the other Commanders get to go on huge missions and actually do shit with their day, I'm stuck here in my office, doing paperwork."

Edwin then looks guilty for not wanting to help do paperwork, so he begins picking up the pace even more.

In the beginning of the last month of training, the pile of paperwork is finally done.

Lucius then tries hiding his immense happiness.

"Well, I guess we can spar now..."

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

"A month straight of sparring, that sounds like a lot of fun."

The two go into a sparring room and stand opposite each other.

Lucius then lays out some ground rules.

"For this sparring session, we can use aspects, I'll restrict myself to only using my hands but you can use all the little chains you'd like."

Edwin then gains a new look of confidence, which is briefly interrupted by a heavy weight on his back, he looks up and realizes that Lucius is gone.

Scared to look behind him, he whips a chain at Lucius.

Lucius grabs the chain with ease, a huge grin forming on his face.

Lucius then yanks the chain toward him and jabs Edwin right in the gut.

Edwin, now on the ground, begins to notice his vision slowly fading out of pure fear.

As his vision fades, the only thing he sees are Lucius' bright purple eyes.

Edwin then passes out from fear as Lucius realizes he isn't going against a very strong opponent.

As Edwin comes back into reality, he sees the very minimalist room of Lucius, who is sitting in a chair near the bed in which Edwin is laying.

The second Edwin comes back to life, Lucius stares him straight in the eyes.

"So, when are you gonna be ready for round two?"

Edwin chuckles before seeing the look on Lucius' face, completely serious.

Edwin then closes his eyes, clearly regretting his eagerness to finish the paperwork.

On the final training day, Lucius and Edwin are sparring one last time and Lucius is dominating the fight, as usual.

This was until Edwin pulled out a trick.

Throughout the fight, he'd been planting chains in the ground, waiting for a moment to restrain Lucius.

As Lucius changes position, Edwin sees a small opportunity.

Sixteen chains spring from the ground, four on each of Lucius' limbs.

Using the opening, Edwin lands his first blow in the month they'd been sparring, a firm punch to Lucius' chest.

The punch clearly hurts Edwin more than Lucius though, leading to Edwin losing focus and releasing the chains.

Lucius then picks Edwin up by the hair before knocking him out with a single blow.

Edwin wakes up in Lucius' modest quarters yet again, Lucius looks almost sad.

"That was the last sparring match we'll have, at least for now."

"Shame, too, it was just getting good, you pulled a good move back there."

Edwin modestly thanks him, trying to hide how joyful he is that Lucius complimented something he did.

Lucius then picks Edwin up, meeting some resistance.

"Don't worry, kid, I'm just carrying you to where us and the rest'll meet."

Edwin then stops all resistance, happy to see his friends.
