Chapter 52- Loss

Cyrus sits in a chair in the bottom of the Knight's prison, Titanhold.

Lucius is beating him to a pulp, trying to get any information out of him, but he's just sitting there, smiling, looking at Cassius, who stands in the corner of the room, pretending not to see anything.

As Lucius is about to knock him unconscious an immense presence fills the small prison chamber.

  Jermaine has entered.

Just him stepping into the room stopped all motion.

"Nice to have you back, Cassius."

"And Lucius, what's going on here?"

Lucius drops the chair, Cyrus teeters a bit before balancing out and falling forward.

  "Some.."

  "Light interrogation."

Jermaine sighs, now ready to really interrogate.

Madison sits at a table with two chairs in her house.

Warren hasn't been home yet, their anniversary was a week ago.

She perks up when she hears a knock at the door.

When she answers, she sees three people.

A red-haired boy, a black-haired boy, and Jermaine, the High Commander.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

  All three look deeply depressed.

She knows what they're going to say but doesn't want to accept it.

When she hears the news, she slams the door and immediately runs to the bed, now only hers.

A few minutes later, she hears the door open.

She fills with hope, thinking it could be Warren, but it's Riley, he has a bottle of liquor and is there to tell her about a funeral he's holding at the Center.

That night, in the Center, there's a shrine in the middle of the main room.

In the room, dozens of people are gathered in remembrance of Warren.

One person stands out, though, even with Ferrul in the crowd.

Admiral Matthew is looking at a picture of Warren on the shrine, with a sad look on his face.

Lucius goes up to him, smiling.

"Y'know Matthew, I appreciate the effort, but your promotion is already cut out, the other Admirals aren't exactly...

  "Promising."

  Matthew sighs in relief.

  "Oh, really?"

"That's the only reason I'm here!"

"I'm out of here now, see you tomorrow."

  Elsewhere, Ferrul approaches Madison.

"You know, he really was amazing."

  Madison giggles a bit.

  "And you're telling me?"

Ferrul chuckles, the noise rumbles the entire building.

"Yeah, I guess you'd know the best."

  "But he was."

"He made General in five years, took me and Jonah over there probably twenty."

  Madison chuckles again.

  "Yeah..."

"Well I'm thinking too much, you wanna see if I can outdrink you?"

  Ferrul laughs nervously.

  "Your confidence is..."

  "Frightening, to say the least."

"But I'll take you up on your offer."

The group all go to the usual bar, where Thorne already was, coincidentally.

He's trying to force himself on a group of women who look half his age, before he's thwarted by Ferrul, looming behind him.

He doesn't even say a word, he just stands there, but it's enough.

Thorne storms out of the bar, mumbling things under his breath, when he senses something.

A small, skinny teenager jumps out from a small alley behind the bar with a knife, he tries stabbing him in the neck but Thorne grabs his neck, unnecessarily using his whole hand.

He begs for food but Thorne asks for payment.

The scrawny boy says he'll do anything.

  Thorne thinks a bit.

  He thinks about Ferrul.

"A huge brute is gonna walk out of that bar some time tonight."

"If you kill him, I'll do whatever you want, whenever you want."

The young boy, who introduces himself as William, an introduction that falls on deaf ears, graciously accepts, excited for all the things him and Thorne will do together.
