Chapter 84: Awakening of the Chainsaw

Holding the gently vibrating chainsaw, the Slayer could clearly feel the pulse transmitting from within. It was no longer the rigid mechanical vibration of gears meshing, but a rhythmic throbbing, like a heart pumping blood.

The white tiger stripes emerging on the blade were not paint, but patterns condensed from pure "killing aura". They flowed slowly across the black chassis, as if the weapon were breathing.

Singularity piloted the engineering drone closer, its camera LED blinking, his voice filled with the awe of witnessing an "engineering miracle."

"Slayer, it seems to like its new home."

The Slayer tilted his head, turning his visor toward the drone. Though he remained silent, his fingers clenched and relaxed around the handle, clearly adjusting to this new, "living" tactile feedback.

Singularity keenly sensed the Slayer’s slight confusion: *Why this tiger? Why does it fit so perfectly with this chainsaw covered in oil and gore?*

Singularity cleared his throat and began his "Hardcore Tech Commentary":

"Slayer, don't treat it as a regular beast. In the data archives of our world, this big cat represents a very specific elemental attribute—'Metal' (Gold)."

The Slayer’s fingers paused imperceptibly at the word "Metal."

For him, "Metal" usually meant two things, and these two things comprised his entire existence:

  1. Heavy Metal Music: The BGM eternally looping in his helmet, the rhythm of his slaughter.

  2. Cold Steel: The tools that tore demon flesh, the medium of his dialogue with the world.

Unaware of the Slayer's pause, Singularity continued with the rigour of an engineer:

"In our lore, 'Metal' governs slaughter and judgment. It represents the ultimate sharpness and hardness in the world. It has no mercy, no hesitation. Its underlying logic code has only one line: Cut through everything that stands in the way."

"This Tiger Soul is essentially the AI personification of the concept of 'Sharpness.' Because its killing intent is too high, no ordinary sheath or container can hold it. Lock it in a cage, and it will try to cut the cage."

  "But now..."

Singularity pointed to the low-growling chainsaw in the Slayer's hand.

"This saw needs no sheath. It is a weapon that is always roaring, always feeding, and always in an 'Active State'."

"So, this is like swapping a nuclear engine into a top-tier sports car. It's a professional match."

  The Slayer understood.

  This wasn't a pet cat.

This was a "Heavy Metal Spirit."

It was a kindred spirit, existing only to Rip and Tear.

The Slayer looked down at the chainsaw.

As if understanding Singularity's analogy, the chainsaw let out a smug *buzz*. The teeth rotated automatically—not with the monotonous, ear-piercing industrial whine of before, but with a low, rhythmic thrum.

  *Thud-Vrum-Thud-Vrum.*

It sounded like the bass solo intro to a Heavy Metal track.

The corner of the Slayer’s mouth twitched upward. He could feel the pleasure of resonance.

Just then, several oblivious "Skeletal Undead" crawled out of the swamp mud, attempting a sneak attack from behind. Their withered claws reached silently for the Slayer’s neck.

The Slayer didn't even turn his head.

The chainsaw in his hand suddenly "came alive."

Without any input command, the chainsaw whipped backward violently. The massive force dragged the Slayer’s arm along, slicing precisely into his blind spot.

  [Auto-Targeting: ON.]

  [Aim Assist: Weak Point Lock.]

  *"ROAAAAR!!!"*

Accompanied by a tangible tiger's roar, the teeth of the chainsaw erupted with a blinding white light. That was the *Qi of Geng-Jin*—unstoppable sharpness.

  *Schwing!*

Before the sneaker could even get within a meter of the Slayer, it was sliced in half by an invisible edge. The cut was smooth as a mirror, as if swept by a high-energy laser; even the bone marrow was instantly vaporized.

Immediately after, the chainsaw dragged the Slayer into a charge toward the mob.

The Slayer was surprised to find he no longer needed to expend effort finding the gaps in their bones, nor did he need to press down to fight resistance.

This saw found its own path.

It was like a slippery fish, or a hunting tiger, automatically biting into the demons' weakest joints and tearing them apart instantly. If it hit a bone that was too hard, it even auto-adjusted its RPM and angle to find the stress point for detonation.

Before, the Slayer swung the chainsaw.

Now, the chainsaw cooperated with the Slayer.

When the Slayer reached out with his left hand to grab a demon, the chainsaw in his right hand would automatically swing right, cutting off the demon's retreat and forcing it into the Slayer's palm.

  The handling was... unbelievably smooth.

  In ten seconds.

  The ambush squad was annihilated.

The Slayer stood amidst shattered bones. The chainsaw idled excitedly, as if claiming credit, the white light on its teeth fading back to a cold metallic sheen.

The Slayer raised his hand. With fingers encased in heavy armor, he gently scratched the engine cover (right where the tiger head pattern was).

  *Purr... Purr...*

The chainsaw emitted a vibration sound like a feline kneading dough ("making biscuits") and even rubbed itself against the Slayer's palm.

The Slayer looked at the weapon.

His eyes revealed a fondness that only a man with top-tier gear could understand.

Watching this from the screen, Singularity sighed:

  [Tool vs. Partner]

"Before, it was just a piece of iron in your hand; if it broke, you fixed it. Now... it's your Wingman."

The Slayer hooked the chainsaw back onto his belt.

The saw clearly didn't want to go back yet. It wiggled on his waist, its teeth *click-clacking* and biting at the air, as if saying, "Not full."

  The Slayer patted it.

The message was: *Don't worry. Nothing but mobs ahead. All you can eat.*

*Next Chapter: Slayer's New Pet. Though it has a soul, this saw's temper is a bit... too aggressive? It even wants to bite Singularity's drone?*
