Sixteenth Layer: Saw Hell, The End.
As the last Mecha-Slicer fell, the maddening sound of grinding metal finally subsided.
Daoist Singularity floated to Slayer's side but didn't rush to open the door to the next layer. Instead, he pulled out his inseparable Heavenly Dao Tablet, which was now emitting a series of pleasant ding-ding sounds.
"Big Hero, please wait a moment." Singularity's fingers danced across the screen, his face flushed with the fervor of an engineer witnessing a perfect system go live. "The main circuit of the Penetration Project... is connected."
Hum——————!
A low, resonant hum of energy, seemingly originating from the planet's core, climbed all the way up through the massive vertical hole Slayer had blasted with the BFG earlier.
Slayer looked up.
Through the layers of holes overhead, he saw a magnificent sight.
A pillar of high-energy Spectral Blue Light, like a sea-calming needle piercing heaven and earth, instantly lit up this pitch-black Eighteenth Layer abyss.
This wasn't just illumination. It was the final grid connection moment of the "Underworld Industrialization Modification."
Daoist Singularity pressed the holographic projection key, and a massive, semi-transparent cross-section map of the Underworld unfolded before Slayer.
"Phase 3 Settlement Report, for your review."
1. Energy Grid: Grid Connection Successful
The middle section of the hologram lit up with blinding red light.
The matrix of ten thousand copper pillars in the Sixth Layer (Copper Pillar Hell) had now transformed into a massive heat exchange matrix. The rolling heat waves were no longer mere punishment but were being continuously transported to all parts of the Underworld along that blue light pillar (Main Superconducting Cable).
On Slayer's HUD, the energy bar icon was flashing wildly:
[External Environment Charging: Active.]
[Praetor Suit Shield Recharge Rate: +200%.]
His newly black-gold-plated armor now flowed with a faint layer of electric arcs, as if it were a mobile reactor.
2. Logistics Network: Fully Operational
The lower section of the hologram, representing the Tenth Layer (Mortar and Pestle Hell), displayed a busy assembly line animation.
Countless demon bones were being crushed, compressed, and loaded.
Thud!
A muffled sound.
A black metal supply pod fell rapidly down the vacuum tube next to the main channel, landing precisely on the buffer pad at Slayer's feet. The pod door popped open, revealing neat rows of High-Explosive Grenades and Shotgun Shells emitting the phosphorescent glow of bone powder.
Slayer bent down and grabbed a handful of shells.
Heavy. They were the freshest ammo, still warm from the production line.
Click-clack.
He loaded the shells into the double-barreled shotgun. Ammo pouch refilled.
3. Information Network: Full Coverage
In the upper section of the hologram, emerald green signal ripples spread like waves.
The signal tower array in the Third Layer (Iron Tree Hell), combined with the reflector relay stations in the Fourth Layer (Mirror Hell), completely eliminated signal dead zones.
Singularity pointed at Slayer's helmet: "Big Hero, your tactical map data pack has been updated to the latest version, latency reduced to 1ms."
"Isolation vs Connectivity."
Singularity looked at this precise giant machine operating before him, his voice trembling:
This novel's true home is a different platform. Support the author by finding it there.
"We did it. The Eighteen Layers of Hell are no longer eighteen isolated islands. This is a perfect, self-sufficient War Fortress."
"As long as this system runs, your ammo is infinite, your energy is endless. This is what I built for you—the 'Infinite Endurance' Battlefield."
Slayer didn't speak.
He simply felt the energy brimming in his power armor and listened to the crisp sound of new ammo colliding in the magazine.
He nodded slightly.
This gesture was the highest praise for this logistics chief.
Then, he turned and walked toward the end of this layer.
There was no blue light, no signal, no supply pipeline there.
Only a one-way valve door leading to the bedrock layer deep underground.
Slayer reached out, the Black Gold Arm Blade popping out, easily slicing the valve lock.
Rumble.
The heavy door slid open.
A suffocating, viscous air carrying the smell of rotten rust rushed out.
Daoist Singularity followed, but his footsteps stopped at the doorway.
Outside the door was an boundless dark void. And below that void, a dark red, liquid-like substance churned.
The Netherworld Blood Sea.
The sewer of the Underworld. The terminus of sins in the Three Realms. The hotbed of chaos.
Singularity glanced at his tablet; the signal bars instantly dropped to zero, replaced by red garbled warnings.
"Big Hero." Singularity put away his excitement from earlier, his tone becoming extremely serious. "The industrial modification ends here."
"The environmental parameters down there are completely chaotic, conforming to no physical laws. My pipes can't be laid down there, and signals can't reach."
He pointed at the churning Blood Sea:
"That's the territory of the Blood Sea Ancestor. He is omniscient and omnipotent there. No map, no supplies, no retreat."
"You are at full status now. But this might be the last time you are at full status."
Slayer stood at the edge of the cliff.
The rock beneath his feet softened due to the erosion of the Blood Sea aura.
He looked down at the ammo pouch at his waist. Full.
Looked at his shield value. Full.
Listened to the chainsaw engine sound (Tiger Soul growl). Normal.
No supplies?
Then loot from demon corpses.
No map?
Then carve out a road.
No retreat?
Who needs a retreat?
Slayer looked up, the crimson rune light on his visor blazing.
He holstered the double-barreled shotgun at his waist and drew that massive BFG-9000 with both hands.
Hum—
Green destruction energy gathered at the muzzle, illuminating the ferocious battle scars on his faceplate.
He didn't look back at the bright, orderly Cyber-Underworld behind him.
Thud.
His combat boot stepped off the cliff.
Slayer leaped, like a green meteor, carrying the will of destruction, plunging toward that red ocean churning with endless sin.
Singularity stood at the cliff edge, watching that figure swallowed by the blood color, and suddenly grabbed his communicator, screaming:
"All units, Level 1 Combat Readiness!"
"Even though we can't lay pipes down there, set up all the long-range artillery!"
"As long as you see green light down there, Bomb the hell out of it!!!"
Phase 3: Hell Penetration, Complete.
Phase 4: Blood Sea Clearing, Start.
"Next chapter, The End of the Blood Sea. Slayer finds this sea too loud—physically too loud."
