Chapter 60: The New Cyber-Netherworld Era

On the wasteland of the dried-up Blood Sea, green radioactive dust was slowly settling.

Slayer stood there like a silent statue.

The Ancestor's corpse at his feet had completely weathered, turning into a pile of meaningless ash. The suffocating oppression around them vanished, replaced by an empty deathly silence.

Daoist Singularity drove a just-repaired hoverbike, rushing to Slayer's side with a trail of dust.

"Big Hero! Big Hero!" Singularity jumped off the bike, dancing with excitement. "You did it! You really scattered that old monster's ashes! Literally scattered his ashes!"

  Slayer didn't turn around.

  He was checking his weapons.

  BFG energy empty.

  Minigun barrels scrapped.

  Double-barreled shotgun ammo low.

But he showed no fatigue. On the contrary, the killing intent on him didn't dissipate with the Ancestor's death. Instead, having just tasted the flavor of "God-Slaying," it surged even higher.

He turned his head to look at Singularity.

There was no joy of victory in his eyes, only a lingering sense of "Not enough killing yet."

Singularity was startled by this look and hurriedly took a half step back.

"Um... that... Big Hero, the mobs here are cleared. Really cleared. Not even a mosquito left."

  Slayer withdrew his gaze.

He looked up at the blue light pillar piercing through the eighteen layers overhead.

  Hum—!

With Singularity's operation, the power of the light pillar was turned to maximum.

The entire underground world lit up like day.

The originally gloomy and terrifying Eighteen Layers of Hell now fully revealed its post-modification appearance.

This was a Cyberpunk-style Underground Megacity.

Neon-flashing Iron Tree Forests shone on the Third Layer.

Massive Geothermal Power Stations roared on the Sixth Layer.

Busy automated production lines shuttled through the Tenth Layer.

And on this wasteland of the bottom layer, countless engineering robots (modified from Mohist mechanism arts and demon wreckage) had already begun to enter, preparing to lay new foundations here.

Singularity pointed at all this, his tone filled with pride:

  "End vs Beginning."

"The old Underworld is dead. A new Underworld is born."

"We will build the biggest demon containment facility, the biggest resource recycling station, the biggest... playground here."

"This place... looks kinda cool now."

  Slayer looked at all this.

Although he didn't understand what "cool" meant.

But he could feel that "Order" had been established here.

Chaos was purged. Rules were rewritten.

As long as it wasn't chaotic, he had no objections.

He shouldered his double-barreled shotgun and turned to walk toward the blue light pillar leading to the upper layers.

Singularity hurriedly chased after him: "Big Hero! Where are you going? King Yama has set up a celebration banquet above! He says he wants to award you the 'Underworld Honorary Citizen for Life' medal! And... and tons of Meng Po Soup Special Blend!"

  Slayer stopped.

Hearing "Meng Po Soup Special Blend," his footsteps hesitated slightly.

  But he continued walking forward.

Because he knew this was just the beginning.

The Underworld was just a Beginner Village.

The Blood Sea Ancestor was just an Elite Mob.

In this vast multiverse, there were countless other hells like this, and countless demons like the Ancestor waiting for him.

  His mission would never end.

Rip and Tear, until it is done.

Slayer walked into the light pillar.

As his body slowly ascended, he took one last look at this empire he had personally conquered.

  Hmm.

  Not bad.

But he was more concerned about another question.

Slayer turned to look at Singularity. Although he didn't speak, Singularity understood his look:

"Where next? Where are there more mobs?"

Singularity paused, then revealed a meaningful smile.

He took out his tablet and pulled up a star map marked with countless red dots.

  "Big Hero, don't rush."

"Since we've cleared the Underworld... how about we go check out that place?"

Singularity pointed to a place on the star map emitting sacred golden light but surrounded by eerie black mist.

  The Celestial Court.

"Heard the Peach Garden over there is having a bug infestation recently... and those are higher-level 'mobs' than demons."

  Slayer's eyes lit up.

  Click-clack.

Inside the ascending elevator, he loaded the last two shells into his shotgun.

That crisp loading sound announced the end of Volume One and the beginning of Volume Two.

"Next chapter, The Underworld is Too Quiet. Slayer has nothing to do, accidentally misfires while cleaning his gun in the Palace of Yama, scaring all the ghosts. The way he looks at the Judge... is like looking at a target."
