Silence ensued as Ahanu stepped onto the stage before loud cheering and clapping rang out once more, the confidence the tribe had in the chieftain's son was insurmountable.
“If you are both ready, I will proceed with the rules,” said the chieftain, getting a nod from Damien and Ahanu. In return, their eyes locked onto one another.
“Rule one, you are not allowed to kill your opponent and can only win by either knocking them out of the ring, one of you cannot continue the fight, or when one of you loses consciousness.”
“Rule two, no using external objects to win the fight such as powerful artifacts from the system or things such as elixirs/pills that boost your ability. Should one of you be caught cheating the other will win by default and the one who cheated will be severely punished.”
“Do you both agree to these rules?”
“Yes, Father,” said Ahanu, giving him a proud look. Damien, on the other hand, simply nodded once more.
“Alright then, I am going to use the system to fairly start the fight accept the prompt that appears before you in just a moment.”
Intrigue popped up on Damien’s face unaware that you could use the system for such matters, then again it made sense with the system being all about balance and fairness. Suddenly the prompt the chieftain had been speaking of appeared.
“User has been invited to participate in a battle, should the user accept you will be fighting Ahanu son of the Unania tribe.”
“Do you accept?”
“Yes.”
“No.”
Reading over the window briefly Damien quickly accepted before another prompt appeared in his vision.
“Battle accepted the system will countdown from three and the battle will commence, should either user feel that they are unable to continue or would like to forfeit voice it out and the system will end the fight.”
With that the system gave a few minutes to allow both fighters to prepare themselves before starting the countdown the whole time Ahanu gave Damien a cocky look. Inwardly he coldly smiled and could not wait to put the boy in his place.
“3…2…1…”
“Battle commence.”
Ahanu flashed forward with decent speed fiercely swinging a giant hammer he had previously brought out during the moment of respite the system gave them.
The hammer crashed fiercely into the ground shaking the arena and causing dust and debris to fly in all directions like shrapnel from a bomb. Damien however managed to dodge this with his superior stats into agility somewhat shocking Ahanu.
“I am surprised she managed to find someone capable enough in her shitty tribe to dodge an attack from me. Though it makes no difference I will only crush you faster now.”
Damien smirked at his words but said nothing in return, instead he dashed forwards and threw out multiple jabs at Ahanu's stomach each being dodged by the tribal member.
Ahanu once more wilded his giant mallet before suddenly a black mist started to leak from his body and weapon giving the crowd a eerie feeling. The mist continued until it spread out in all directions blocking the view of the fight inside the arena.
Calmly examining his surroundings Damien immediately locked onto Ahanu who was circling him with killing intent radiating from his entire being.
“You know, this ability is something I usually only use for those worthy of seeing it, those who truly give me a fight. Were it not for the fact that I want to secure this victory at all costs someone like you would have no right to experience an ability as grand as this, savor it.”
The black mist around him began to wail and whip about producing sounds akin to thousands of ghosts crying out in agony anyone who experienced this ability should they survive was sure to have nightmares about it for years.

Ahanu closed the distance between himself and Damien before gripping the handle of his hammer tightly and swinging it downward with all his might. It was moving with such speed and ferocity that had it not been for the black mist producing loud howls anyone within the tribal grounds would be able to hear it clearly.
‘To think this was who they chose to battle me…’ Ahanu thought with a cold look.
Right when the hammer was about to make contact with the back of Damien’s head he vanished almost making Ahanu gasp in shock and complete disbelief, Tuning around he began to look in all directions leaving no spot unturned but Damien was nowhere to be found.
A look of annoyance and slight worry appeared within Ahanu’s eyes, “COME OUT YOU COWARD!” he yelled within the thick mist but to no avail as his own ability had drowned out his voice.
“No need to yell I am right behind you.” A cold voice sounded out behind him making his heart stop. Jumping away he turned his head to look for the source.
Now in front of him, Damien stood with his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner, “How… how did you?” Ahanu said in disbelief unable to figure out how Damien had not only dodged his attack but also hid from his senses and sneak up on him.
“How did I what? Sneak up on you? Disappear? Well you see it’s pretty easy… especially when you are fighting someone so…Hmm how do I put this.”
“Spite it out already.” Ahanu snapped with a frown.”
A wide smile appeared on Damien’s face before he coldly said.
“Weak.”
Silence resumed all around the two men, even the howls of the mist were no longer heard that was until Ahanu let out a cold chuckle followed by full-on maniacal laughter.
“Haha..HA..HAHAHAHA. Weak? You are calling ME weak?!” he said seemingly in his own world.
“That’s exactly what I am saying,” Damien responded with a shrug.
Ahanu set his hammer to the side atop its head before raising his hands and starting to clap.
“You have impressed me, it’s been a long time since someone other than my father dared to insult me so. Since that is the case how about we see if your words hold true.”
Ahanu disappeared once more this time however Damien’s calm slightly broke as even with his area sense ability enhancing his perception Ahanu was nowhere to be seen.
“Shlick” the sound of something tearing was heard to Damien’s backside before he suddenly felt a searing feeling.
Pain, out of nowhere Damien felt a sharp stinging pain on his back. Using his perception to examine his backside he spotted the source of it, a deep long gash was now on his backside.
His expression turned grave, whatever Ahanu was doing could end up killing him. It was time to stop messing around and finish this.
This time Damien truly focused on the area around him, every single little detail unable to escape his grasp. Even this slightest shift in molecules would not go unnoticed, should Ahanu make another move he was sure to see it.
To his right, a massive shift in the air was immediately detected. Locking his perception in that direction he waited for the right moment.
Suddenly his senses picked up something moving at him at high speeds, taking out his katana Damien imbued it with lightning before fiercely cutting through the thick black mist in the direction he had sensed Ahanu coming from.
As the lighting moved through the mist the howling wails were snuffed out and portions of the mist scattered, Damien felt his sword make contact with something more solid but still easily cut through it.
Liquid Damien could only assume was blood splattered all over him before he heard something hit the floor, looking down he saw Ahanu holding his right side in pain. Damien had almost cut him in half.
Had it not been for Ahanu’s quick response he would have died, after glancing down at him for a moment Damien noticed the mist around them started to clear swiftly returning the crowd's vision of what was going on inside the arena.
A collective gasp of shock rang out all over the crowd, unable to believe what they were seeing. Turning his gaze to the chieftain Damien looked at him with an unreadable expression and waited to see what the man's reaction would be.
The chieftain locked gazes with Damien in return for a brief moment before giving a mysterious smile making Damien feel somewhat uneasy. Shifting his gaze the chieftain looked over at his son and said one word aloud.
“Useless.” Ahanu who was on the ground shook violently hearing his father's words before many tribe members ran over to him and carried him towards a separate tent.
Everyone went silent but it was clear a lot of the Unania tribe agreed with the chieftain's words. “The winner of this battle is Akikta,” he stated simply before standing up and walking back to his tent without another word.
Damien was left extremely puzzled by this, the chieftain's reaction had been completely tame and unbothered where as Damien had expected the man to try and pull some sort of trick or to at least be outraged by the fact he injured his son.
“What are you thinking about?” Hearing a voice Damien turned and saw Aponi looking at him with a beautiful smile clearly expressing her happiness at him winning.
Damien shook his head in response before saying. “Nothing it’s just the chieftain's reaction to me winning was how do I put this? Unfazed?”
Worry appeared on Aponi’s face, “now that you mention it that is extremely weird and out of character for him…” she said with a puzzled look.
“Forget it, if he tries something while we are here I will deal with it,” Damien said getting a smile from Aponi in return.
Locking eyes with him Aponi became a bit lost in his gaze, “I love your eyes, they remind me of my mothers.” Damien raised an eyebrow at her complement wondering where it had come from all of a sudden.
Unsure of what to say in response he just gave an awkward laugh before someone let out a loud cough behind them.
Turning their attention to the sound they saw the old sage giving them a cheeky look. “If you two are done flirting shall we head back?”
