October 27

  Lord Muin,

The room is a perfect area for my painting given the large window. Since it faces east, I can paint in the morning as I used to at Notti Manor. Whether you’re there to accept the painting doesn’t matter much to me as long as you like it when you do see it.

If you want to see my unfinished paintings, you’d have to have enough time for me to show the gallery’s worth of unfinished work I have. Some of it I may never come back to and some of it I just ran out of energy for. If there are any you like, you’re more than welcome to have them. It would be a better use for them than simply sitting hidden away in shame.

In the mornings, Anhelina has been taking me on walks around the property so I can stretch my legs instead of staying still in front of my paintings for hours. Perhaps one morning we could take a walk together or if you would be so inclined, I would love to hear you play, rusty or not. We could trade musical talents, and I could sing for you. Though I can’t do more than carry a tune, I think it would be fun.

Tomorrow is my first day as the marquess of this land and I intend to take it as seriously as I can. I’ve already made my way to town and though I only went to a few places, I was as charmed as I was impressed. Everything has been built and maintained to the fullest and the people are as kind as can be expected. If possible, I would like to make my way to town once every two weeks to make sure I’m familiarizing myself with everything. Once a week would be ideal, but Anhelina would be in a bad state if I were to do that.

Jurek has agreed to give me history lessons about the town and region so that I can better understand the area I’m looking after. I was given a brief history lesson before the wedding, but never anything more than that. I intend to make sure I’m as knowledgeable as can be before making decisions.

With all of my power, I will make sure that I give the people of this town the marquess they deserve.
