CHAPTER 2
Dave drove his car into the parking lot of D'Royals Restaurant.
"We are here," he said as he went to open the door for Eva, who beat him to it and alighted from the car. She smiled sweetly, as he let out a scoff. "You and your feminism ", he teased.
"That's one of the reasons you love me. No?" She replied, smiling.
"I know, right?" he chuckled.
"So shall we?" he asked bowing playfully.
"Yes, please" she said playing along as she makes her way towards the entrance.
Dave let out a low chuckle as he catches up to her and held her by the waist.
They enter the reception, and Dave went to the front desk to confirm their reservation.
"Thanks" he smiled politely at the receptionist.
He walked toward where Eva was waiting, and led her to their table.

"You were giving that girl green light, abi?" She teased.
"You think I did not see you, hmmn?" she said as she nodded her head playfully.
"I only smiled at her na, nothing else ."He replied smiling.
Their food arrived in no time, they ate in silence, sometimes exchanging small talks.
Suddenly the light went dim and a spotlight was on Eva, an attendant came on carrying a trolley with a cake and a bouquet of lilies. Eva looked on in confusion.
"Eva," Dave's soft voice called her attention filling her with dread, she could feel her stomach tightening.
"Y... Yes?" She tried to sound normal giving him a little smile.
"We have known each other for three years now", Dave started "And I've never met anyone like you - calm, elegant, responsible, strong, independent. You are an epitome of strength and beauty, Eva, and I'll love to spend my whole life with you. Will you marry me, Eva?”
Shocked, confused. She slowly opens her mouth "No"
Not expecting such an answer, He was taken aback "What do you mean, no, Eva?" He laughs drily. "This is a prank right?"
Eva stood up abruptly. "Sorry. Dave, I can't marry you, I just can't.”
She picked up her bag and phone with shaky hands, and quickly made her way outside. Dave could not process what had just happened, and by the time he came to, Eva was gone.

"Click, click". The door opened as Eva entered the house. She went to the fridge and takes out a pack of beer, and she headed to her room. She flung her bag and shoes carelessly and sat on her bed, leaning against the headboard.
"Oh my god, I can't do this." She lamented.
"I just can't, just can’t." She shook her head, then began downing can after can of beer.
"Should I not have reacted that way." She drawled drunkenly.
"But what would you have me do? I cannot see myself getting married.” She hiccups, and bursts into tears.
