As I walk out of the front door of my school I mutter, "[Status]"
I frown as I read over my debuffs, 'That doesn't look good...' after I look at the description my hand twitches 'Why am I so.... Average?' I step into the intersection as i stare at the bars above people's heads
*Ding!*
'What the hell, why does she have so much Magic?' I begin to follow the blonde in the crowd with the name [Marcy Smith]. I got results using my new skill [Observe] on her:
I blink in suprise 'Huh, she cares about her family, but why do the public not know about magic then? In fact how are they keeping it secret?
I mull this over as she takes a sharp turn into an alley. I shook my head as I turn into the alley to catch her, admittedly pretty face glaring at me as if I kicked a puppy. I feel a for- wait no, [Mana] come over me as i hear an all too familiar
*Ding!*
Her face turns into a sneer, "Hah! And here I thought it was an assassin sent by the [Ifrit] House! You are just a lowly mook... I mean your mana is pathetic!"
My face turns into a frown at her terrible attitude "Well, First off I'm not some mook; Second what [Ifrit] Family?" I sense something ignite inside me as I let my bag fall to the floor.
Her eyebrow twitches a little bit as if surprised, "Wait... what? That shouldn't b- Dammit! I dragged in a witness" She raises a hand palm aimed at me as she chanted:
"Spirit of water, Heed my call
Form a weapon of war!
[WATER SPEAR!]"
Blue motes appear and fuse together to make a crystal blue spear floating in midair, which shoots out at me.
My eyes bulge as adrenaline start to make its course, so I pull myself and my bag out of the way of the spear.
Thoughts invade my head 'The time is right, heed your call Mask Bearer!" I rip out the mask out of my bag as she chants the aria.
My face turns impassive as I pull it on and murmur " [KENOS!] ". Black light consumes the sky as the moon turns [RED]; the originally plain mask's jaw juts out with a ivory beastly jaw.
The mask taking an ivory color with teeth protruding out which are as black as the void. The right eye socket black as night takes on a bright blue mote.

Her face turns to pure horror as I stare at her, yet she continues her aria
"F-F for- form a-a wea- weapo- weapon of wa- wa- war!
[WAHHTER SPEAHRRR!!!!]"
Her magic supercharged with her emotions as seen by the blue eye takes on a wicked shape as it takes a darker shade of blue. It darts at me at supernatural speeds, but my nonchalance betrays her expectation as I raise my hand and chant my magic
"[EATER]"
A black canine like jaw engulfs my hand as it eats through the spear with no problem. Her face turns from horror to despair as I walk forward. I walk towards her as she whimpers and shakes her head.
I finally get up to her as I kneel to her level to see her snot ridden face. I pull off my mask making the transformations recede, the pseudo-moon, the mask, and the sky.
My brow furrowed in concern, "Oi.... are you alright? I didn't mean to scare you that much...." To this her face shows confusion as she mumbles " bu- but weren't you going to kill me?"
I raise my eyebrow as my frown creases "Why would I do that? Is it some weird magical custom?"
She chokes back a small laugh "What? nonono its usually a unwritten rule to kill those who challenges the other to a duel and loses"
I smile in mirth "Huh that's funny did I ever hear you say 'I challenge you to a duel'? I did not."
She giggles a bit deliriously "Hahaha.... I guess you're right?"
I get up off my knees as I pat off any dirt, but as I'm walking away she tug the hem of my pants. "Uhm.... what's your name sir?" I put my hand on my chin as my smile widens
I turn around and start to walk away
"Well.... I am Nathan Young! College Student Extrodinaire, and your everyday, somewhat unlucky, average guy! Seeya!"
I freeze as I robotically turn around "Uhhh can you like... break this thing?" She looks at me dumbfounded, but soon enough shakes out her confusion and does that. The barrier shatters as I walk away to my apartment.
