Chapter 2 Welcome back to earth

The team placed their feet on the familiar soil of the earth. It felt

like an eternity since they had last been here, but in reality it had only

been about three months. For April, Ryan, and Bill the planets gravity

felt oddly heavier then they remembered from prior space trips, but

what did it matter if it was not causing them pain.

“Welcome back to earth, how did the mission go?” Camera crews were

recording the event, as this could be history in the making. The one asking

the question was the president of earth. About fifty years ago, a new continent

was forming, this continent was in the very center of the earth, and is where

matters for the entire world would be dealt with in the future. It was only

about ten years ago when the worlds base of operations was formed.

“We found a planet that can, and has hosted life?” Ryan as the captain answers

the world president. “That is good to hear. The mission shall begin in three months

time.” Ryan was still worried about what could have happened to the former life

on that planet, but he did not mention his worries to the president.

Ryan and the president shook hands, both Ryan and the president feel a small

static like shock, but neither of them give it any thoughts. Ryan returns to his

team, April has offered to give both Bill, and Ryan a ride home.

Five days pass by, each day the team members feel a little bit heavier, and

cannot understand why. They have noticed however that every time they

come into contact with a new person, or other animal, a small static shock

is discharged. Throughout the world sparks like these start to spread, and

the majority of people notice that, it feels like they weigh more, but checking

their scales, this is not the case. Those that do not feel heavier feel more

energetic and full of life, like never before.

A month goes by, many people die, and it is not known why. The remaining

people, aside from the ones who feel more energetic that is, can barley move

now. April is one of the ones that can barley move, both Ryan, and Bill died

fourteen days ago. (Right Ryan never did read what the A.I. translated.)

Thinking of Bill April sends a message to the A,I. “A.I. please print out the

translated book from the planet that hosted life.” “Will do!” After the message

had been confirmed, April felt a familiar static discharge, and suddenly all

the power in her home goes off, and her communicator stops functioning.

(Maybe someday someone will find the print out of the book.) There was

not much April could do but think that. ( Maybe Bill had been right to have

physical notes and files laying around.)

Among the ones who died where all forms of government, health professionals,

who thought that drugs and medication were the only way a person could be

healed, and all leaders, which also included crime leaders. The world was left

with only the ones remaining to take charge of themselves, and their families

  if they had any left.

Lucky for April that she had a green house, which did not rely on power and

had fruits and berries that would grow back everyday, thanks to some genetic

alterations to them. Been barley able to move, she knew that this was the best

  spot for her.

Not everyone was as lucky as April, and sooner or later they would end up dying

of either starvation, or dehydration. Among the people who felt more energetic,

it was soon realized that all of them had some form of psychic abilities, prior

to what ever it was that had done this to the world. This was brought to attention,

when people noticed that a lot of professional mediums were still doing their jobs.

It also reviled who had been frauds. A lot of people where angry with the money

they wasted, but what was the point of worrying about that now.

Why was it the physics who could move around freely? This was the question

a lot of people could not help but ask themselves. Why were they blessed like

  that.

Unlike with the humans, the animals were not really affected by what ever it

was, all they did was spread it like wild flower. The only exception was when

the birds migrated to a certain uninhabited island, and eat plant life there.

Something in the soil there was different from the soil across the rest of the

globe, which caused the birds to mutate, and soon all the life on that island

as well. For the time being, the newly mutated birds, and other life forms

on the island would remain there.

All forms of electronics soon stopped functioning, just like with April’s

home, it was like someone just switched them off, or an electromagnetic

surge was released across the planet. Only mechanical technology could

function now. Both sadly, and luckily, anyone needing electrical technology

in the hospital to live, had died way before the technology no longer worked.

It all started to click in April’s mind. (This all started after Ryan went down

to that planet, and then we returned to earth, but why did the A.I. not detect

any danger? Wait could their be some information in the translated book,

if there is, I am glad I had the A.I. print it out. I hope someone finds it

someday. Thank you Bill if that really is the case.)

The books translation lies just under the printer, but who is to say if

anyone will ever find it. Could it even really help if they did?

From what Ryan told Bill and April, this did not seem like the same thing

that wiped out the life on the other planet. Should April be worried about

something far worst happening in the future?
