A possible heavy and last meal wasn't a wise decision, many of us had sea sick because of it. There was around 25 men in the landing craft. As we got in, we packed our equipment and reloaded our guns. A simple Carbine with 28 rounds, M1945 pistols and simple grenades. About 18 people are simple infantry, 2 are mortar crews and the rest are in charge of infiltrating the coastal defences. 15 minutes later, as the gates open what we saw was like hell on earth. We were open to barrage of machine guns and planes shooting above us. The coast was not well defended as there are mostly bunkers, machine gun nests and few artillery pieces to take down the ships. When we are 2 km from the coast, a private was killed when he did not duck down for cover. "EVERYONE KEEP YOUR HEADS DOWN" I yelled. Hundreds of landing crafts advanced to the coast. One was blown up near us, one private yelled "WAS THAT ONE OF OURS?" Behind us, a cruiser was shot by a 150mm artillery piece and started sinking. As we all hit the obstacles that was put on the beach to deter any landing crafts, we had no choice but to open the gate. Now we were vulnerable to machine guns, we quickily went to the tank traps, the coastal boulders and some makeshift trenches that was barely safe.
Finally, we reached a blindspot for the german machine guns, we set up a mortar to fire at them. First, we fired at the shingle, a fortification line filled with mines and barbed wires. After an hour of bombardment, we managed to blast many holes at the shingle and taken out some machine gun nests. Thousands of us advances through the shingle and up the hill. Some of us are blown up due to the hidden land mines. We shot our way through the bunkers, machine gun nests and the coastal artilleries. Some germans surrendered as they are begining to be outnumbered due to us outnumbering them 5 to 1. We continued through our way to the small town while german soldiers retreat. A small group of tanks arrived, we managed to get our Anti-tank launchers and destroyed a few of them, and of course we lost 341 men out of the 2500-ish soldiers that arrived. We controled the small town that consisted of 73 buildings that located 2.5km from the landing site. We setup a command post at the town hall, controled by the head of the brigade Captain David Adams. After few hours of fortifications around the town. An infantry scout reported that thousands of german soldiers with tanks and aircrafts everyone brought as much ammunitions and weapons from the beachsite and started to defend the town.
I was stationed at the 1st defensive lines against the germans. When they came, we started emptying our ammo at them, we even took out a couple of tanks and damage some flying aircraft. I requested reinforcements, a total of 2400 men are arriving from the beach to relief the counter attack. Few hundreds of infantry stayed to defend the town. As the fighter planes started taking adding significant amount of casualties everyone was losing limbs, dying and even losing their head from getting shot there. I had no choice but to get on the motorcycle with the side car to the command post. As I arrived, I am greeted by artillery. I barged through the door and asked "I am 2000 meters from the enemies, WHERE ARE THE REINFORCEMENTS?" The captain replied "They will be here in an hour, we need to defend the town center." Suddenly, an artillery struct the wall of the command post. I was shunned and dizzy, young soldiers screamed in agony as they asked for help and wanting to return home. I was carried to the medic bay for my injuries. none the less, 30 minutes later the soldiers at the frontlines retreated to the 2nd defensive line.

When I was cleared for battle, I rushed to see them arriving at the gates of the main town. I quickily went to the sergeant there and asked him "why they so god damn close?" He replied "we are outta supplies, ammunition are low. I think we lost more men than them." As they killed their way to the command post, I retreated back to a house nearby. Even that was not safe as a german tank spotted me and shot at the building multiple times. There was few hundreds of us left and we retreated back to the spot near the bunkers about 50m away. We hastily digged trenches as deep as 3 feet. Intense shelling rendered us to only 231 soldiers fighting for their lives. Men are getting blown up as their guts was comming out. When I thought there was no hope of defeating them. I saw allied aircraft shooting down german fighter planes and started blowing up the tanks which are infront of us. Reinforcements arrived and up to 3 thousands soldiers arrived. As the germans were taking losses, we defeated about 4/10th of their army who are stationed at Latgalia, We soon captured that strategic part of the beach and we were able to capture 15km wide beaches and 5km into the land.
After the attack, Hitler dispatches the 4th and 7th army to relief the invasion force. After much scouting, he actually sent 220k soldiers to attack. Right now the german population are 125 million. Benefit was that most of those who are born are males, adding millions to the active army. Due to the news, Sweden and Finland who are not involved in the war sent 20k and 8k soldiers to support the allied powers respectively. It would take the germans 1 month to transport that much troops, our first place to attack was the city of Ventspils, a strategic city that houses very big docks that can bring us more troops, for more troops we would capture the city of Liepaja and then raid on Kuldiga to be able to capture the roads and then we would invade the 2nd most populous city in the Latgalian state 'Saldus' and 'Jelgava' these 2 cities are connected via a lot of roads. That way we could capture Riga, this complicated planning somehow works and we began to reinforce and advances into the state.
After discussing about this plan with the officers, I went out for a stroll around the town to see if there are any germans left. Soldiers carrying their dead comrades, everyone was cleaning the damages. Some were trying to have a good time by getting dead drunk. However, there was a huge road ahead that we need to go in order to capture Liepaja, the city with the largest dock in the state.
