  The reason humanity was in despair, no less than slaves- toys, for these monsters?

  They were bored. Thats right. Boredom. There was no underlying scheme, no great evil plan, or secret bid to steal their planet for resources.

  A casual dismissal for their lives. Even now the voice which projected itself into his mind all that time ago when one of them had answered the General.

  Our technology? A fucking joke to them. No different from a caveman figuring out how to hold a stick. Our resources? Common and worthless to them.

  Ironically enough it was the single aspect of intelligence that nations across the world neglected that gave them salvation. Creativity.

  Amused by the works of fictions and entertainment our species they decided to preserve our culture... Somewhat.

  We could be spared and given a chance at freedom if we part took in The Game.

  25% of the population disappeared when the world leaders accepted the offer. Billions of lives displaced. Billions more ended.
