“Status” The wraith spoke in a very different voice than from before, though it still wasn't exactly pleasant on the ears to hear.
As the Wraith was looking around at its screen it realized that there was a lot that it didn't know. So it began to look at the different Attributes and guess what they did when another box popped up in front of the previous one.
So the more you use a skill the better you use it and the better the effects are. It seemed like the Wraith had finally figured out why the boxes were popping up and what they meant, for the most part at least. there is still much to the system that is not surface level.
Just as it finished reading about the luck attribute, it thought so if I get a high enough level of luck will I just be insanely lucky with everything?
Oh well, let's save that little thought for later when I can actually use it
As the wraith looked over the past few weeks that she had been hunting, she realized that something was weird as if she felt she was somewhere she wasn't meant to be. As if there was something were here, something that confused the very surroundings. She ignored it and began thinking, something that she had only experienced recently as although her INT was high she didn't have much knowledge other than how to fight. So in actuality, she was pretty simple by most standards.
She looked up towards the ceiling, closed her eyes and began sensing around her. As she 'looked' at the mana around her, she began to follow a certain string of it, like following a map. Not that she would know what a map was. Eventually, as the claustrophobic walls widened and air started to float into the dungeon creating a breeze, she shivered at the foreign sensation crossing her rough skin. As she realized that she was getting close to an end, she opened her eyes at that point only to have them widen to the point of hilarity if someone were to witness her instead of the usual fear of witnessing a monster.
She looked out the doorway and saw- Jungle, jungle everywhere. Trees, grass, mud, shrubs, vines, ivy, flowers. Everything one would expect to see in a jungle if they were to head into one, however to her it was like she had gotten to another planet. She, as she was ecstatic and curious with what she saw ahead of her, dashed out as fast as she could but once the walls stopped she slowed til stopping.
The box that had popped up was one that made her feel uneasy, as she had been inside the dungeon her whole life, so she didn't understand that the feeling she had was one that was normal for every being outside of dungeons. it was the feeling of 'what next'? 'what's going to happen?' and 'how will I deal with it'.
The monster understood the meaning behind these implications. It caught on so fast that it actually surprised itself. Something had changed. It could form a coherent stream of thoughts for the first time in its life. Almost as if a fog was lifted from its mind.
The truth of the matter was that while the mana was guiding and nourishing it, it was also robbing it of its free will. That innate compulsion to leave the dungeon? It was being chased out by the very stuff that gave it life. The reason why it had to face every single enemy it came across no matter how strong they were? They were ‘invaders’ that the dungeon wanted dead.
As she looked around she noticed that it was rather dark out, but compared to the dungeon she had been in it could be considered quite bright. She looked around her again, however, this time she looked for anything that would try to attack her, and just her luck as she saw a lantern coming her way carried by a single person with three others close in sight.
A small smile crossed her face at the thought of more food to have, as she descended upon them like Death incarnate. This wasn’t an instinctual drive to eat and live, nor was it the dungeon’s mind control.
It would kill because it wanted to, with no warning and for almost no reason, other than the bloodlust.
Just like any other monster would, in a world where monsters sleep and death hangs in the very air breathed.
