Chapter 53

  This Is Family?

  Brenton:

  As everyone set the dishes of food on a long table, someone brought out 3 extra chairs and sat them at the table. There was roasted chicken, mashed potatoes, gravy, candied carrots, pecan pie, roast beef, glazed ham, green beans, strawberry cake, chocolate cake and banana pudding.

  One of the ladies said something about needing a longer table soon, especially if the family keeps growing. A man said he already had one on special order and it would be here in a few days. The lady said. “You really think of everything don't you”. The man smiles and says “ Just what you forget my queen”. Another lady comes in and tells everyone to come get their drinks. Everyone lined up in some sort of order. The children were first in line. As the line moves, I'm able to see the anesthetics of this family, now my family. It is like a beautiful piece of art. The fluid motions of everyone was like watching a master piece come to life. The kids grab their drinks and go sit at the table. The adults do the same. It's like a well oiled machine. Once everyone was seated. My dad spoke. I think it would be great if we all introduce ourselves, so Brenton can get to know all of us and we can get to know him. My brother agrees and so does everyone else. One of the men says we will start clock wise. Everyone nods yes.

  Jackson:

  I hate going first but I guess I have to. Hello Brenton, I'm Jackson Dracul. My title is Prince Alpha but please do not call me that. It's not that I hate my title. It just sounds way too formal to use with family.

  Dianna:

  Brenton I'm your cousin Dianna. Wayne and my well, Lyican are brothers. My official title is Princess Luna. Like Jack I hate using titles unless it's an official setting, then I still can't hide my snarling face.

  Maurice:

  I'm the oldest Maurice but some of my family calls me Monk or Resse. As you already know my ability is being able to do what I call ghosting myself. I'm able to travel like a controlled out of body experience. I also teach the children along with your mom.

  Louis:

  As you know I'm Doctor Lou. The second child. Not only am I a doctor but also I can hack almost any device.

  Hello Brenton, I am Ann Louis's nurse and Mate.

  Catalina:

  I'm Catalina or Cat. Third born. I'm a fashion designer and now a sketch artist. You name it. I can draw it.

  Dorian:

  Hey. You can call me either Dorian or Dori. I'm the son of Catalina and Grayson. My dad went missing several months ago and we are trying to find him. I'm also a clothing designer but I'm an elemental warrior first.

  Nicholas:

  I'm Nick, the fourth born . I'm an attorney and also a code and game developer. I have the ability to see what is hidden in the shadows.

  Vlad:

  I'm Vlad. I'm number five. I have two wolves and I can see portals after they are gone. I can also see where they end and I'm learning to be able to tell who made them.

  Geneva:

  You may as well know the truth. I'm the sixth born and twin to Vlad. I gave my wolf to Vlad before he was born to save his life. I am a Telepathic Telekinesis Elemental. I also require drops of blood in my food. My vampire and fae side are stronger without a wolf.

  Johanna:

  I'm Johanna Bathory, but everyone calls me Jo. My grandmother is Elizabeth Bathory. I am a wolf vampire hybrid. I do not require blood. My abilities are weapons.

  Killian:

  I'm Killian Bathory. Jo and I are cousins. I'm a Lycan vampire hybrid. My ability is auras plus others that haven't developed yet.

  Tanchi:

  My name is Tanchi or Tan. I'm the adopted son of Jackson and Dianna. I am a master trainer of weapons

  Ashura:

  I am master Ashura. I am the adopted son of King Vlad and Queen Justina. I'm a master of portals and darkness

  I am Thoran, adopted son of King Vlad and Queen Justina. I am the master of time control. I am also sharing duties as Beta and Gamma.

  Hynes:

  I'm Hynes and this is my mate Ryan. I share the Beta and Gamma role with Thoran.

  Hello Brenton I'm Ryan and chef for our family but I have lots of help from Justin, Dianna and Catilena. Our large family meals are always coordinated pot luck.

  Justina:

  I am Queen Justina. I prefer to be called Lolly. I am Queen of the Fae folk. My abilities range in many things that I'm learning to control. My main ability is elements.

  King Vlad:

  I and King Vlad better-known as Pop Pop. I am the king of vampires. I do require blood but I have my own stock.

  Eric:

  I'm Eric your brother

  Lexie:

  I'm Lexie your sister

  Wren:

  I'm Wren and your baby sister.

  Brenton:

  It is very nice to meet you all.

  As you know I'm Brenton. I would like to thank you all for receiving my letters and rescuing me. I have no formal education but I learned to replicate scents in the lab and how to mask and erase them as well. I would like to have a family meeting in the near future when it is convenient for everyone. I would also like to be checked for any lingering darkness that may still exist inside me. I want to thank Eric for dissolving most of it. He was my saving grace and he didn't even know it. He brought a bond and love into my life and the more time I spent with him the more the darkness faded. I just need to make sure that the darkness isn't going to return with a vengeance.

  Ashura:

  Have you been taught about the 3rd door that opens when you link. If not, that will be your first lesson after we examine you for hidden darkness.

  Brenton:

  I never knew what the world family meant until now. If this is family then I will not betray them and I vow to protect them. School, training, labs I will do it all.

  Jackson:

  Brenton you mentioned having a family meeting. When would you like to hold the meeting?

  Brenton: I would like to be examined and learn if anything is buried in my brain before we have the meeting.

  Geneva:

  That is a very wise choice you have made.

  Ashura:

  We will begin the examination after dinner. Right now we need to nourish our bodies. We are going to need strength

  Brenton:

  We all ate. Everyone was talking about how their jobs, school and training were going and the progress that was being made. I sat in silence listening, until Geneva said my name and asked if I would like to join them for school and training. She said maybe I could apply for college at International Flavors and Fragrances and get my degree in perfume since I like to recreate scents. I told her I would love to do that. Nome asked me about my abilities and I told her I never shifted. Ashura stopped and looked serious at Jackson and told him to get Stan, Liza, Layla, Lyidia, Sam and Sven here now and told Lou to come with us. As soon as the others arrived, Ashura told me to follow him. I did as I was told.

  He led me into a large room with no windows and a padded floor. He told me this was part of the training room. He had me lay down on the padded floor, which was rather comfortable and he and the others started chanting something I didn't understand. The next thing I knew I was handed a metal bucket and began vomiting up black sludge very violently. The more I vomited the more they chanted, until my vomit was clear. Ashura took a deep breath and blew a white flame out of his mouth into the bucket. I can swear I heard screaming coming from black sludge. He blew another flame this time it was blue, then a purple flame then red. He kept burning the sludge until it was all gone. I was allowed to get up and rinse my mouth and wash my face. When I was done I laid back on the floor and another round of chanting began along with another round of vomiting. This time it was a toxic green color sludge. I filled the bucket again. Ashura once again spit out a flame, this time it was lemon yellow flame that burnt away the green slim. I rinsed my mouth and washed my face and laid down on the floor again. They began chanting again. This time I don't throw up but I feel like something is moving instead my brain moving through my sinus cavity behind my eyes and coming out my nose. My nose starts bleeding in the bucket more and more. The chanting continues until something more besides blood comes out of my nose. I don't move as the chanting continues again. More pain, more blood, more of something moving out of my nostrils. This time I feel whatever the thing is fighting not to come out. It's pushing back. Next I knew Layla bent down in front of me, grabbed whatever it was and pulled a long string out through my nose. They continued chanting and more strings started coming out more easily this time. This went on until the blood was no longer red but clear. Ashura used a green flame to burn the blood until all traces of the blood were gone. I get up and get cleaned up again. I lay back on the floor and they started another chant. This time I have a warm feeling forming. Starting at the top of my head . It travels down behind my eyes, my throat passes my larynx down my trachea to my diaphragm, my heart, lungs, arms, intestines, it travels through my veins, nervous system blood, legs, all the way down to my toes and back up again to the crown of my head. I feel lighter and I feel like I'm glowing with a golden light. I no longer feel like I'm weighted down with something unknown.

  All of a sudden I hear a voice in my head. It's begging me to let it out but I don't know how to do that. I tell Ashura what the voice is saying. He tells me to close my eyes and let the voice guide me. He warns me it is going to be painful but do not fight the pain. The longer I fight the more painful it is going to be. He tells me everyone who is here, is here to help me.

  I close my eyes and listen to the voice. I feel like every bone in my body is breaking. This is worse than any beating I ever had. Even worse than the silver chain and wolf's bane and the silver injections. I try not fight focusing on the voice in my head. It feels like it has taken hours or even days. Finally the pain stops. It's like I'm inside me head looks through someone else's eyes. I feel a dog shaking out It's fur. I shiver. Did I shift? I hear the voice that was in my head only this time It's louder. It tells someone thank you. My name is Arrow. I have been trapped for years. Thank you for releasing me. I see me moving. Next thing I know I'm looking through the eyes of Arrow. We are looking in a mirror. He is big but looks weak and skinny for his size. Then I hear words I never thought I would here. MATE! We turn and we are looking at Nome. Nome is our mate. She sits down and Arrow lays his head in her lap. Nome tells us we need to gain weight to become healthy and start to train so we can learn to work together and shifting won't hurt us anymore. She ask Arrow to help me shift back to human form and she will make us a high protein meal. Shifting back doesn't hurt as bad but still it's pretty painful. I put on the pair of shorts that Sam gave me and he tells me not to keep my mate waiting.

  I tell everyone thank you for helping me and curing me of the heaviness. Stan clamps his hand on my shoulder and tells me. This is family, this is what family does, they help each other. The word family keeps repeating in my head. Family, Trust, Respect, Love. This is family!
