113. To Make A Proposal

A good morning to you, my dear reader.

Why, the very morn must be yet cold for your person once more, I would say.

  Indeed.

  ...

Yes, yes, I shall fail to question it more.

Why, the very nature of the land you live in.

  Indeed.

Even so, must I say that we do indeed have a tale to get on and along with.

  ...

The very Black Claw of Vesturia?

  Why, what of him?

  ...

His relationship with the young lad...

Why, I do suppose I may as well tell you.

  Indeed.

  Why, the very pair...

  A strange relationship they hold...

  And thereof, many stories abounding...

  Indeed.

  ...

  Oh, no, no, no...

Those very stories would take far too much time to get into.

  Indeed.

Why, I suppose I shall eventually have to take a step back into memory to remind oneself of it.

However, as I would say, why...

That shall have to happen later in this book.

  Indeed.

  ...

  A hint, you say?

  A teaser even?

  Hmmm...

Well, I suppose I may give this...

  Indeed.

  Two boys do battle...

  As brothers...

  Yes...

I do suppose that that is the very best of explanations for their relationship.

  ...

Yes, yes, as brothers are they indeed close, yes...

Even so, do I find myself having the need to continue the tale...

  ...

Why, did I not say at the start of this tale that all Knights of the First and Second order are all outside of Vesturia?

Why, the very number does indeed include the very Black Claw.

  Indeed.

  ...

  Hmmm...

  A most pertinent question...

One the very likes of which I would rather you found out for yourself...

  Indeed.

Even so, must I finally get along with things.

  Indeed.

Why, I have spent many a chapter elucidating things with very little in the ways of progress to the tale.

'Tis to my chagrin, I would say.

  Yes...

  ...

  Fail to worry of it.

I shall fail to concern myself with it all too much.

  Yes...

Why, even so, can I simply get started now.

  Indeed.

  Ahem...

'Twas as I did leave the very two of us...

Fren Chavalier letting go of a dream that would most certainly lead to his death...

And of the very same, the young lad then and there, taking his leave...

Upon the giant log that he himself had just broken down...

  Why...

Did Reginald Walterson soon walk towards his comrade in travels...

The very reason to speak to him...

Reginald: Mr. Fren, my good man.

  Fren: Yes, yes, Mr. Reginald.

The very man turned from the subject of his question all the way to the taller, more dapper man's eyes...

The very reason for a simplistic conversation of sorts.

Reginald: I do believe that we should get going. Why, the very nature of our path has been set by the lad, so... why not, I say.

And as for the very man by the name of Fren Chavalier, why...

  Fren: Indeed and agreed.

Even then, the very man kept the very smile upon his face. Why, the very likes of which...

Reginald: Even so, why... I think I have found for ourselves a route not too far and not too winding. Why, it shall keep us as close to the nation's borders as possible. For that reason, why... I do believe...

And as the very man spoke did a most curious idea strike the very man by the name of Fren Chavalier.

Why, even so, as he did nod.

Why, 'twas strange even for him.

For, even and so as his friend...

The very one man close enough to him to be better than a mere trading partner did suddenly grow more silent and more, how you say, blurred in the very wisdom of his eyes and ears.

  For, truly, I say, why...

Did the very man and man that he was find himself looking towards the young lad...

In the very corner of his eyes.

Why, even and so as he would soon be out of his way.

  Indeed.

Why, a man may even say that it was as though something directed his eyes and ears towards the very lad.

As though another man had placed...

  Hmmm...

  Perhaps cake...

  Yes...

Perhaps the most scrumptious of cakes before his eyes...

  And thereof, a simple cake...

  Hmmm...

  No, no, no, ...

  Merely the scrumptuous cake...

And thereof, have the scent waft before his nose...

Only thereafter for someone to dare him to turn his nose to sniff for something else.

  Indeed.

  'Twas as so.

  And thereof, why...

Did the man come to a very interesting set of conclusions.

The very kind of which remain most interesting even to him and also, to I.

  Yes.

The very reason simply standing as...

The fact that he and he only could see for himself what lay before him.

  Indeed.

  An idea.

And thereof, interrupting his comrade before the very lad could properly leave...

Reginald: ... Even so, if we pass by quickly and before dark, we...

  Fren: Young lad!

  Indeed.

Why, his voice was ever so loud.

The very sort of which would be heard by they all, man and woman...

Even they who failed to leave their carriages.

  Indeed.

Why, they all heard it, and even so, and of course, did the young lad.

Why, 'twas most easy for him to listen on and along to what he had just said.

As I said before, he was loud.

  Indeed.

  Even so, why...

Did the young lad merely pause...

Merely waiting for the very words that would follow from his mouth...

Only to hear that the very man by the name of Fren Chavalier had taken to running with his very feet towards him.

  Indeed.

  An even more shocking sight...

  Yes...

And as for the very rest of them...

  Nancy: Mr. Chavalier?

  Reginald: Fren?

They all turned to him, shocked as they would be...

Wondering to themselves as to what it was that had suddenly possessed this man...

To run towards his target in such earnest.

  Yes...

And thereof, did he climb the massive tree log and race even further towards him, all their eyes upon him...

As he did eventually catch up to the young lad...

And thereof, did they hold a conversation.

  Indeed.

Why, did Madam Thornberry and the rest of them soon turn their heads to Reginald...

Whose very eyes were still stuck on Fren.

  Indeed.

Before they turned back to the very pair conversing...

  And of that conversation, why...

Fren: Thank you for stopping, I say. And thereof, have I yet a proposal for you.

The young lad and him, faced each other, many a word being said by Fren Chavalier and of the young lad, why...

  A very simple...

  Jake: Alright...

And of the very same, with boughs of jolly, why...

Did Fren Chavalier turn with a bright smile upon his face to the rest of them and run off to his carriage...

  Saying...

Fren: Not to worry all of you, we shall get a move on immediately.

And thereof, did he rush over to his carriage...

The very reason to simply enter it.

And thereof, did he leave the very rest of them in a massive state of confusion...

One the very likes of which perplexed them further...

For now, the young lad did continue his walk away from them all...

  And thereof, well...

Did Madam Thornberry find herself to be the first of the people to question this all...

  Indeed.

Nancy: Mr. Fren Chavalier. What... of what was...

And thereof did he with jolly reply...

Fren: Why, I simply struck a deal with the lad.

  Nancy: A deal, you say?

'Twas not too far away later that Reginald found himself walking towards the carriages...

Himself knowing that Fren would not do something as he just did with no proper reason.

  And thereof, did he say...

Reginald: What sort of deal, my good man?

And thereof, did Fren Chavalier, all the while preparing things in his carriage simply say...

Fren: Why, 'twas simply for the fact that...

And thereafter, did he point his finger to the young lad's direction...

Fren: ... we just so happened to be headed in the same direction.

  Indeed.

A very simple agreement the pair had come to.

  Yes...

Why, 'twas most simple one could call it.

  Indeed.

For, Fren Chavalier had simply made a request to the young lad...

  Promising him compensation, naturally...

So that they may travel together rather than apart...

The very reason so they may be protected by the lad's blade.

  And thereof, indeed.

  Did the very boy agree.

Why, at the very pointing in his direction...

  Was he standing right there...

  Silently, as he would.

Not a word or a muscle...

Simply standing for the very sake that he may wait upon them.

  Indeed.

  And thereof...

  Nancy: My word...

  Reginald: Hmmm...

  Victoria: I... see...

  Florian: Hmm...

  And as for Fren Chavalier...

  Fren: Indeed.

He did stand to them all, turning to say...

Fren: Worry not, it shall all be well with us. Why, the very lad is a better protector than most we could find in all the lands, would you not agree?

  And thereof...

Nancy: Well, I suppose you do find yourself to be correct.

Reginald: Indeed. Why, ... a most clever plan my good man. Surely...

  And of Nadam Hathaway, why...

Did she remain silent, all the while as Florian himself simply looked...

Aghast in a sort of way.

  Yes...

  ...

  Well, I...

  Hmmm...

I suppose I shall leave that for later.

  Indeed.

  Even so, why...

Did Madam Hathaway find herself being asked...

  Followed by Mr. Addison...

Fren: Is that all alright with the pair of you?

  And thereof...

Victoria: Oh! Of course, naturally, my good sir. The pleasure is all mine, I should say.

  Indeed.

  And of Florian himself...

  Florian: 'Tis alright...

  Indeed.

And then did Fren Chavalier thereafter, with a very proper smile find himself...

  Saying oh-so loudly...

  Fren: Very good then.

  Indeed.

And thereafter, did they all, as a group, find themselves upon the carriage...

  The very reason to leave.

And of the very same why, did a problem almost immediately find itself.

Why, the very sort that made Fren Chavalier even gladder that he himself had gone to the lad to ask...

For, even and so as the very tree was now a sort of bridge...

Why, would they all require some sort of help getting their carriages across the river...

  Why, the very reason being...

That lifting them all into what was now a very massive log across the river...

Was not a task that they all as people could find themselves doing even upon the very best of their days.

  Indeed.

Why, did the very young lad find himself being called back to them.

Fren: Ah... dear lad, could you come over here and help us across. Why, we do seem to be in quite the bit of a conundrum.

And thereof, I say, did the very young lad simply leap back up upon the log...

As they all, as a group, awaited his arrival...

Fren watching from outside the window...

Madam Thornberry as well as Reginald watching from theirs...

To say nothing of Florian, who simply, kept himself aware of what was to happen...

And finally, of Victoria, who did not bother herself even, to open the window...

Instead keeping her windows shut and her mouth closed and buried.

  Indeed.

  And of the very same...

  Why...

  Fren: Ah, there you are...

With the very same friendly smile as before...

Before the young lad simply and properly...

Walked towards the first carriage and said...

  Jake: I shall lift it.

Of the very same, as the very man by the name of Fren Chavalier simply nodded...

  Fren: Oh, please do.

Before rushing his head from his window...

  And holding tight.

  Indeed.

For the young lad did lift it up into the air...

From the bottom to the top...

With little trouble, I should say...

Why, given how the tree being carried was of no great trouble...

I do suppose that this shall fail to trouble you as to how it is possible, my dear reader.

  Indeed.

And thereof, did he carry it...

Lifting it from its very bottom...

All the way to the very top...

  Yes...

Lifting it above himself, all the while as other carriages soon felt the movements...

Why, was Madam Thornberry the most affected...

  Indeed.

The very woman's carriage was now standing diagonally, the very result being that inside her own carriage, she almost fell...

  Nancy: Eeeeek!

And screamed, prompting the grand lad to halt himself...

Looking to her, all the reason in his heart to check and see as to what was wrong...

Or as to whether or not something was amiss.

  And thereof...

  After a mere moment...

Nancy: 'Tis alright. Do go on, dear lad.

  Indeed.

Did the young lad then carry the carriage...

All the short way to the tree fallen over the river...

Before placing it on top of the "bridge".

Yes, I do suppose that that recollection of events does indeed find itself to be the very most easily understood.

  Even so, dear reader...

  Do tell me this...

What do you think is to happen next, now that the very traders are now travelling with one whom they may very easily call a wanted criminal...

  Yes...

  ...

  Hmmm?

Why, do consider this, my dear reader...

The very majority of people who have heard the name, why...

They have only heard of the boy's name...

  And even so, do consider...

That oh-so many of them have never even seen his face.

  Indeed.

And of the very same, do I repeat my question...

What do you believe should happen, should these things go on and along for long enough?

  ...

  That they will be caught?

  Yes...

  Indeed.

It can, shall and eventually will happen that they do get caught.

  Yes...

However, if I may also ask, what do you believe will happen, in the course of time betwixt this and then?

  ...

  Hmmm...

  No, not quite, no.

  ...

  Yes, yes...

  Indeed.

  Their hearts, I say...

Why, I suppose I should have mentioned that prior.

  Indeed.

  Their hearts.

Their hearts shall indeed grow closer.

And of the very same is it simply that of the nature of humanity.

  Indeed.

  Humans are simply as so.

Should they be near each other, why...

'Tis borrowed phrases, borrowed ideas and soon...

  Hearts that know each other.

  Indeed.

'Tis of the many things of humanity, I say.

Why, have I noticed this all in all humans...

Irregardless of whether they be shinobi, Knight, wizard...

  Or otherwise...

  ...

Well now, 'twould seem that we shall now find ourselves in yet another meandring path.

  Indeed.

  The very "otherwise" yes...

The very ones you did ask of.

And of them, I must say...

That there are many and many tales...

  Tales of right and wrong...

  Tales of ifs and whens...

Tales of this and that, why...

Did I not once mention that the very man by the name of Matteo Phyr...

That he and he alone amongst those of Vesturia...

Does indeed find himself to not be of the blood of the Knights?

  ...

  Hmmm?

Why, truly I say unto you, dear reader, truly...

Even I simply do not know.

  Yes...

  I simply do not know.

  ...

Why, do you believe that I am fully aware of everything?

  ...

Well, I do suppose that I know much of this world.

However, to know more of this world than one of my kind, I would say...

'Twould be farfetch'd, I would imagine...

Why, I would rather simply say that I know quite a bit...

However, of everything do I unfortunately fall short.

  Yes...

  Indeed...

  ...

  Hmmm...

Now that would require a history lesson of sorts...

One the very likes of which I suppose I could give now...

However, I would rather wait for certain things to occur.

  Why, to mention that now...

  I say...

  'Twould confuse you greatly.

  Indeed.

And of the very same, did they all, in their own temperments...

  Across the bridge go...

Fren in boughs of jolly, Madam Thornberry...

  Hmmm...

Time is up, yet once more.

  A shame really...

Do take care, my dear reader.

  Indeed.

  Do take care.

And thereof, do take care of those below you.

Not merely children but even and so the very small animals.

It does wonders for the soul to be, how you say...

In the service of the weak.

  Indeed.
