When I woke up this morning, the room was very hot. I was ecstatic that we were now in a warm place, safe from the elements. I explored the city some more today and checked on Henry. He was doing alright. There isn't much to report on him. They are making him stay on bedrest for the while. He is said to be able to go in the next few days. I saw that Maria girl once more. She was staring at me from far off. I do not know what her problem is.
We were given a gift from the people of the city today. I am not sure why. They gave us a very small book. All of the boys except Igor can speak English, but very few can write and read it. I am one of the few that can write and read it to a proficiency. Yuri and I began reading to the boys after William the American brought us the book. Apparently, even though it is his first language, he cannot read. He said it was from his time in the factories in New York City. All the boys sat in front of us and listened to the book. It was very sweet.

Yuri later explained to me that almost all of the people in the city spoke English as well as Russian. They had been cut off from the world recently in the grand scheme of things. However, they had no idea as to why. We had to inform them that there was a world war raging right now. They took it better than I did the first time I learned of it. I saw Maria once more, staring at us as we finished the book. I went to her and asked why she was staring at us.
"I'm sorry. I didn't realize I was staring at all of you. I don't mean to be rude. You can read?" she explained, to which I told her that I could indeed read and write English.
"You don't sound English," she muttered. I told her I wasn't, I just knew quite a bit of English because of the influx of Englishmen in France. She apologized once more and I shushed her. She soon left. What an odd woman.
