The connections Vegis had with the Clones and the links with Boreal and Mitra were very similar but had some key differences that Vegis spotted over the time he spent with Mitra at home and in his off time over in the northern labs. The first difference is how active each of them are. The connection with the clones gives him vague knowledge of how well they are, if they are injured, if they are doing anything, and their locations in relation to him. The connection with Mitra and Boreal only passively tells him 2 things, they exist and their vague direction from him.
The second difference was the bandwidth/filters the connections have with transferring information. Vegis had full control of everything with the clones. He can pick out specific moments, sensations, everything that the clones have in them. With Borea, he could look through their eyes and maybe be able to hear the stray thought or two. Mitra has blocked out most of this and Vegis has to ask for permission to do this. Their memories have been completely blocked off from him. They have to explicitly send him the memory if he wants to see one. The only limitation the memory transfer has is that it can’t be more than one minute long.
The third and last big difference would be telepathic communication. The clones had little thought. They mainly did what they were told, but had different interpretations of how to do it. The things that can be heard from them were very simple and mostly about the task at hand. Boreal didn’t have much control over the connection so the volume would be strange, the messages would be corrupted in some way, and the thoughts sent come at random. Mitra had the best control of it. She really didn’t send thoughts too often since she liked talking more but she could filter out messages, knew how to purposely alter the messages she sent, and figured out how to create temporary connections to talk to others with telepathy.

Everyday, Drake would spend some time visiting them and do a small prayer in Mitra’s presence. On one of these visits, just before the prayer, Mitra connected to Drake and sent a thought to him to ask why he did this every time he came over. This startled him badly and he nearly casted a spell. Mitra told him to stop and his body followed her command. He could not do a single thing other than staying still and breathing until Vegis told Mitra to stop whatever was happening. This allowed Drake to move and ask what the fuck just happened. Vegis made Mitra explain herself and Drake frowned at the explanation. He left after this and didn't explain anything.
It has been a month since they arrived at the northern lab and things have started to become a routine. On his work days, Vegis would go into his office and control/monitor the clones on the wall, occasionally controlling them if they did not know how to do something. When the sun rose, he would go to the cafeteria to eat, dragging Mitra with him every now and then so she could interact with the others. After eating and returning to the dorm, Vegis would then sleep. On his off days, Vegis would spend more time with the other 2, then hang out with the others that were off their shifts. Sometimes, Vegis would log into the LSN
On the last day of the month, Vegis’s shift started normally. Go to the office, send the clones into place, do some talking to the guards for some gossip, etc. In the third hour of the night, a large thunderstorm came in, blocking the moons and stars. Howls, screams, and other animal noises could be heard under the heavy rain and thunder. Soon, an alarm went off and one of the lead guards in the hubs ran to one of the screens inside and saw one word. Stampede.
