It has been an hour since Doel and Drake left and Vegis was packing his stuff up to prepare for tomorrow. Mitra was just walking around the house to try and get used to the nanites. A notification popped into Vegis’s head and it was a message from Drake telling him that their transport will leave around 8 AM at the nearest city to the property. Vegis checked the time and it was still only 6 PM right now. It took 20 minutes after reading the message for Vegis to be done packing all their stuff. Vegis went down from the bedroom and to the living room to sit down and think of what to do with the remaining time they had for the night. Vegis decided to let the clones wander the entire property since they were only allowed to get out of the pods to help with small tasks when Vegis was busy or needed help.
The wall moved and revealed the opening clone pods. They slowly got up from them and did some stretches. Vegis didn’t give them an order so it took a while before they started to move around by themselves. As soon as V1 got to the door to exit the house, Vegis gave them a simple command. Do not leave the property. They nodded and went outside to explore the woods that surrounded the home. Mitra decided to go outside and started to leisurely float around the property. Vegis could also fly but he had never practiced with it and didn’t have the instinctual knowledge of how like Mitra. Vegis decided to hangout with everyone outside. He sat on a chair that was on the front porch and watched the clones slowly walking circles around the house and Mitra just hovering around above all of them like a drone.
Vegis began to think about what exactly he was. As far as he knows, he was basically a heavily modified human by a power far beyond his imagination or control. Doel seemed to think he was the Beast of Dawn and Dusk but he never elaborated on what exactly that was other than it being part of the religion of the Maouin system. The book that he had shown him said that he had only experienced a fifth of the changes he was going to go through and that scared him. Vegis has already undergone changes that go well beyond the current understanding of biology and he knows that he will go even further. His body was full of harmful substances and structures but they did not hinder him, they somehow improved him. Vegis was sure there were also unknown substances in his body that no one knows exactly what they do. He guessed that only the very richest toughest people could hope to see a pale imitation of the augmentation and integration that was just shoved into his body. Vegis continued this train of thought for hours as he just stared straight into the trees.
A loud yelp interrupted Vegis’s pondering and made him look up at the clones and Mitra. Mitra had a large branch stuck in her hair and the clones held large rocks in their hands. Vegis chucked at this and got up to help Mitra with the stick. Vegis formed a rope with his mana and threw it at the top of the tree. It then tied itself and slowly retracted, dragging Vegis up until he was at the same height as Mitra. Vegis sat on the branch and helped her untangle her hair from the branch while the clones started to just walk around again. When they were done and Vegis got down from the tree, he checked the time and saw it was 10 PM already. He called for the others to come inside and rest. The clones slowly walked back in and Mitra stopped floating when she was over the porch to walk inside. Vegis put up the clones and started to clean himself up. In the middle of this, Mitra walked in and just copied him.

When they both got done, they headed straight to their beds and laid there until they finally fell asleep an hour later. After they fell asleep, they slowly started dreaming. It was a strange one where the 2 of them were parents of a small child in the prespace travel era. It was a quaint life filled with small moments of hardships and joys. One day, the kid lost their toys around the neighborhood so Vegis went to the forest where the other children liked to play and Mitra went home to home to look for the toys. When 1 of them grabbed a toy for the child, Mitra and Vegis would glow a light green, both in the dream and in their beds.
It took many hours for them to get them all, but when they did, the child shone with a blinding flash of green and turned into something that resembled a Magi, but also didn’t. It had the basic stuff like the vine-like hair, green bodies, silver eyes, etc. but it also had the patterns Vegis and Mitra had. The dark dot on its forehead became the pupil of the eye on its forehead, the blue patterns formed the lines of its body, and leaves seemed to grow out of its hair and skin. The kid was in the yard when they got back, and the grass of the lawn started to grow taller and taller, transforming from lawn grass into something more like bamboo.
The plants all over the neighborhood started to overgrow and swallow everything. When the plants overwhelmed Vegis and Mitra, they woke up, both refreshed and stressed at the same time. Vegis checked the time, and it was already 6 AM. They got ready and grabbed their luggage. When they got downstairs, Vegis noticed something was different when he looked out the window. Grass and small foliage was under the trees with no naked earth near the home. Vegis frowned at this and started to put everything into a large cart. The luggage, pods, and bags of other things were in it when he was done and they started to leave then. As they traveled along the driveway to the main road, they could see that when they got far enough, the rapid plant growth stopped and the dirt could be seen.
They got on the road and started to run to the elevator hub. When they got there, Vegis could see a special all purpose vehicle there. When they got near, the doors opened to show Drake and Doel inside waving at them. They got inside after putting all their stuff in and waited. Vegis and Mitra felt tired and eventually just fell asleep in their chairs.
