Chapter 4: Building the Dungeon

As soon as I touched the dungeon core, a message appeared.

  ???

[Do you wish to build your Dungeon?]

"Yes!" I proclaimed as I had done before.

[Which model do you wish to use as a base?]

  ???

A series of models for different dungeon types appeared in front of my eyes, but I knew there was only one option.

There were no mountains nearby, so a cave wasn't an option. A castle wouldn't serve my objectives, and a sky island was impossible at this moment.

A single option, the same one I chose last time, jumped out at me.

"I wish to follow the Tower model."

  ???

[The core room will be created together with the first floor]

  ???

Soon a gigantic stone tower appeared, rising above the trees and piercing the sky.

It must have been over 300 meters tall, made entirely of a white stone resembling the purest ivory.

A pair of metal gates over 10 meters high appeared, enabling entry and exit. Suddenly, the Dungeon Core disappeared like the wind.

I didn't worry about its disappearance, for I knew it was on the last floor of the dungeon. I brought my body closer to the gate, and it magically opened on its own.

However, it wasn't possible to see inside. Some kind of illusion hid the view. Even I, being the dungeon master, couldn't see the interior.

I entered through the portal, stopping in a dense forest. Trees similar to those outside covered my vision, creating an apparently hostile environment.

I crossed in a straight line to the center of that woods and found a magic circle drawn on the ground. As soon as I stepped on it, I ended up being taken to another point in the dungeon.

This time, I appeared in a grand hall. There was a red carpet on the floor, the walls and ceilings were decorated with fabrics of the same color, and the hall itself was huge.

But it could still be seen in its entirety from the entrance, where I was previously.

I looked to the end of the carpet, where a throne made of simple wood was located. Beside the throne was the Core, which had ceased floating and was now atop a small metal pillar.

I walked up to it and sat on the wooden throne, which was somewhat uncomfortable. I felt the heat emitted by the Core and sighed, incredulous.

  I can only be dreaming...

Maybe it was because of Serene Mind, or maybe it was just my own consciousness being very strong, yet anyone I knew would go mad in my situation.

  Rebirth...

I really didn't have a real life before; I possessed no friends or family who would miss me. I had only Vangloria and my monsters, creatures based on an A.I.

However, now I could create true companions; servants, for this was a real world. But I couldn't believe it without proof.

"I need to create a monster..."

Touching the core, a screen appeared. It was extremely confusing, to say the least. That was the Dungeon administration tab.

Since my Dungeon Creation skill was at the highest level, multiple additional options had appeared.

Leaving those new options aside, I fixed my eyes on what truly mattered. The creation and purchase of monsters.

It so happened that there were many ways to create monsters and creatures. However, only three of them were the most effective at that moment.

Killing monsters and letting the bodies be absorbed by the core, thus acquiring the capacity to buy the monster.

Using emblems in the cauldron, creating high-level monsters and enabling the summoning of more fragile evolutions.

Or buying some monsters that the dungeon itself had available. The problem with the last method was the strength of the monsters. They were the worst possible.

  ???

[The dungeon was defined as a "Forest" area]

[Some monsters of this habitat acquired]

  [Goblin]

  [Skeleton]

  ???

  "Only two options..."

Goblins were difficult creatures to deal with. They reproduced at an accelerated rate, were weak, dumb, and had treacherous tendencies. Messing with these monsters was a sure request for death.

Skeletons, on the other hand, couldn't get stronger with time. They would only get strong by evolving, which wasn't an easy process. But, beyond that, they were loyal and would follow orders blindly without worrying about their own lives.

At this moment, I could only choose between one of the two creatures, but it wasn't a difficult thing to do.

  "Summon Goblin!"

  ???

  [Summoning performed]

  [Goblins Unlocked for Purchase]

[The Dungeon Master received 1000 Points as a beginner]

[The Dungeon Master received "Rare Choice Emblem" as a beginner]

[-50 Points for summoning a Goblin]

  ???

"Only 1000 points... Well, it's better than nothing."

Soon the floor shone a little, and, just like the moment the dungeon was created, something began to sprout from a magic circle.

It was a little creature. It had greenish skin, blue eyes, sharp teeth, green hair, and wore nothing more than a loincloth covering its private parts. It also carried a wooden club. Its body was disproportionate because its head was gigantic.

Surprisingly, he was handsome and even quite tall compared to other goblins.

In my last life, normal goblins reached, at most, my waist in height, but this one surpassed that plenty.

He was only two heads shorter than me; this scared me a little, but I stood firm and stared at him.

The creature grunted a bit, seeming confused by its own appearance. It gave a few light grumbles and looked at me, huffing.

"Hm... I knew it wouldn't be easy."

The goblin hit the ground with the club and ran in my direction, furious.

I might be the dungeon master, but not all monsters would obey me easily. In case I wasn't strong enough, I could even be killed by my invocations.

I remember to this day the dozens of times I died in Vangloria.

Well, it's a good chance to test my new body.

He tried to hit me on the throne, for I was still seated. However, he hit only an empty seat. I jumped from the throne at the exact moment of his attack.

I leaped about two meters and landed safely a few meters away, which surprised me quite a bit.

This body is very light and agile...

I smiled with enthusiasm and made a gesture for the goblin to try again. He huffed once more and tried to attack me.

He aimed at my legs, and I took just one step to the side; he attacked my arms, and I merely dodged again.

The little creature didn't compare to me; I could see every one of his movements, distinguish them from real attacks and wild feints, and because of that, I could also dodge with ease.

I was much faster, stronger, and smarter. The creature never had a chance.

Tired of playing, I just dodged another time, kicked one of his legs, and immobilized the creature on the ground.

"Domination!" I proclaimed the name of the skill while placing my hand atop his head.

Soon a reddish energy covered my fist and penetrated the little one's mind. He tried to fight a bit, but my strength was much greater, and so he yielded easily.

  ???

  [Domination successful]

  [Goblin Dominated]

[It is now possible to see its information]

  ???

The goblin stopped fighting. I smiled satisfied and released my new servant. As soon as I let him go, he stood up and looked at me. This time, he didn't seem angry, he just kept his ugly face looking at me.

"Get it for me." I pointed to the wooden club that had fallen during combat.

He quickly ran to the club and brought it to me.

"Good boy. Now stay quiet there."

The goblin sat on the floor and began to scratch his nose.

Despite the situation, it was still something incredible. I really could create monsters and creatures. The only bad part of Vangloria had just ceased to exist.

There was, however, still something to be tested: The Cauldron.

  ???

  [Cauldron Uses: 1]

  ???

It was only possible to use the Cauldron a single time per month. It worked in a seemingly random manner, but there was indeed a way to control it.

By placing a quantity of mana into it, it was possible to put in some materials to create monsters, with emblems being the best material and the main base for the monsters.

  ???

[Do you wish to use the Cauldron?]

  ???

  Without thinking much, I said:

  "Yes!"

Soon a huge literal cauldron appeared in front of me. Then, I searched for the item that was given to me a short while ago: Choice Emblem.

All monsters possessed at least one primordial characteristic; this characteristic was the emblem.

Inside the game, nothing was informed about the origin of this thing, so players just thought it was a way to categorize the monsters.

There was a considerable number of different emblems. About 100 of them. Each possessed a rarity, just like all other items.

However, at this moment, I could see only one option, considering I was in a forest and needed to survive above all else.

  "I choose the Bestial Emblem!"

  ???

  [Bestial Emblem] Acquired

[The Dungeon Master will receive 1 Bestial Emblem Monthly, along with the Cauldron Use]

  ???

A small medal appeared in the palm of my hand, with the face of an uncontrollable beast on it. As an item, it was also divided into grades.

The Emblem I received was Rare, which meant I could create a monster of this same rarity.

  ???

  [Information]

  Name: Bestial

  Type: Emblem

  Rarity: Rare

  ???

Monsters created by this emblem possessed incredible adaptive capabilities. They were like wild beasts, with great reproductive capabilities and animalistic instincts.

Goblins, despite being much weaker, were in this category of monsters.

I put my hand on the emblem and, before throwing it inside the cauldron, began to make profound wishes.

I need someone loyal; a companion for life, someone who will never betray me or leave me behind; a true friend.

I hurled the small emblem inside the Cauldron. Soon, a message resonated in front of me, indicating success.

  ???

  [Monster Created]

  [Cauldron Uses: 0]

  ???

From inside the enormous cauldron, a magnificent creature emerged. It possessed thick white fur, sharp teeth, huge paws, and its eyes shone under the magical lights of the hall.

As soon as it appeared, it let out a very loud howl.

  "Aooo!"

As soon as it finished its howl, the gigantic wolf observed me. It approached me slowly. I was prepared to enter another combat, but this didn't seem to be the case.

The wolf looked at me with its large eyes and soon lowered its head, seeming to bow to me; he was submissive.

I placed my hand on his head and proclaimed:

  "Domination!"

Once again, the energy leaked between my fingers and covered the animal's head, creating a connection between the two of us.

  ???

  [Domination successful]

  [White Wolf Dominated]

  ???

I stopped for a second, wearing a silly smile on my face. The wolf's mannerisms; its movements and sounds, were all too real.

A machine could never reach that level of intelligence.

  I really reincarnated...

I began to laugh like a madman to the point of even crying, and I only stopped when my belly began to hurt and I was already on my knees on the ground.

Enthusiastic, I looked at the status screen of the two monsters I summoned.

  ???

  Huh?

It seemed like a common screen, but I noticed something strange. The skill Calm Mind. I tried to see more information about it, discovering it to be a weaker version of Serene Mind.

Skills were divided into three types:

Active: Skills that needed to be used by the user and spent some form of energy, be it mana or the user's own vigor.

Passive: Skills that activated automatically upon meeting certain requirements or that were always active.

Special: Skills limited by Class or that had special characteristics.

  ???

  The same thing...

The Calm Mind skill also appeared in the white wolf. While for me, this skill was Special, for the monsters it was merely a Passive.

Inside Vangloria this had never occurred, which is why I was so alarmed. However, it wasn't such a terrible thing that they possessed this additional capacity.

I looked at the goblin who was still scratching his nose and at the white wolf and finally, after so much struggle, accepted my unfortunate, or perhaps not, destiny.

"I received a second chance... I will make the most of it!"
