Chapter-43 -To Weave a Dream of Courage

Outside Lǐ Róng's study, the air grew thick with anxious tension. Bái Lù, Mei Lin, and Captain Zhào had been waiting for what felt like an eternity.

[Captain Zhào]: "By the heavens, I hope that nephew of mine hasn't been disrespectful. The longer they take, the more my gut twists with worry."

[Mei Lin]: "Captain, I understand your concern, but he is our King first and foremost! [Her voice sharpened to a blade's edge] So cease disgracing his judgment this instant!"

Her sudden, fierce outburst startled the older captain into silence.

[Bái Lù]: "Both of you, contain yourselves. Our King's wisdom in matters of state and the future of our kingdom is absolute."

The sound of the door unlocking cut through their debate. Jian Zhi and Lǐ Róng emerged, their expressions unreadable.

[Captain Zhào]: "May heaven bless you with boundless glory, Your Majesty! Duke Lǐ Róng!" He offered a deep, respectful bow.

[Jian Zhi]: "Don't strain your old back. Rise."

[Lǐ Róng]: "[A warm, genuine laugh] Hahahaha! It is refreshing to see such a familiar dynamic between a ruler and his soldier. It speaks well of your kingdom's heart."

[Jian Zhi]: "He is not just a soldier. He is my mother's brother, my uncle." Leaning closer to Lǐ Róng, he added in a theatrical whisper, "Though his body is slow and his mind is even slower these days."

[Captain Zhào]: "Hey, you brat! What poisonous words are you pouring into the Duke's ear?!"

[Jian Zhi]: "It is of no consequence..." His demeanor shifted instantly, his gaze turning sharp and commanding. "Now, gather our soldiers. They are to be enrolled in The Sovereign Soul Academy (心域主权学院 - Xīnyù Zhǔquán Xuéyuàn). Mei Lin, Captain Zhào, that includes you both."

Trusting his decree implicitly, they nodded without question. As they proceeded to the academy, Jian Zhi outlined the institution's core philosophy and rigorous structure.

Lǐ Róng himself led the way, ensuring their enrollment would be personally overseen. Seizing the moment, Jian Zhi ventured a personal question.

[Jian Zhi]: "Duke Lǐ Róng, tell me of Xuè Lán. I have heard she once held you in high regard. Was the feeling mutual? And what truly ignited the Xuè Clan's ambition after so long?"

[Lǐ Róng]: "The spark was my brother's treachery. He offered them the dukedom in exchange for my head. They accepted, and the drums of war began to beat. As for Xuè Lán..." A soft, wistful smile touched his lips, a faint blush coloring his cheeks. "What we shared was mutual. She was brilliantly sharp and effortlessly cool. While my entire court treated me as 'Your Grace,' she alone dared to call me a brat and treat me like the young man I was."

A brief, unwelcome simulation of their flirtatious bickering flashed in Jian Zhi's mind. He shook his head to clear it.

[Jian Zhi]: "Let us focus on the path ahead."

They soon arrived at the academy gates, where the Headmaster greeted them with deep reverence.

[Lǐ Róng]: "These are our new allies. This is Jian Zhi. He will be your sovereign ruler before long."

The declaration landed with the force of a thunderclap. All eyes turned to Lǐ Róng, then to Jian Zhi.

[Jian Zhi]: "Are you certain of this?"

[Lǐ Róng]: "With absolute certainty. [A smile of profound relief and pride]"

After the soldiers' Bazi charts were recorded, they were led to the Outer Court. Jian Zhi, however, noticed Lian's palpable nervousness. He called her aside.

[Lian]: "Y-Yes... Your Majesty?" Her voice was a trembling whisper as she followed him to a quiet meditation chamber in the Wài Yuàn.

He instructed her to sit and begin the meditative process to seek her Heart's Domain.

[Jian Zhi]: "Breathe slowly. In and out. Feel the world around you fade. Listen to the rhythm of your own heart. Now, walk forward into the tunnel you see in your mind's eye."

As her consciousness descended inward, Jian Zhi unrolled her Bazi chart, his eyes scanning the stark analysis of her soul.

  Name: Lian

  Age:21

Elemental Constitution: Earth-Dominant with Damaged Wood and Weak Fire.

  · Day Master: Jǐ Tǔ (己土 - Yin Earth) - The Cultivable Soil, The Humble Pasture. · This reflects her core nature: nurturing, dependable, and resilient, with a great capacity for loyalty and service. However, Yin Earth can also represent low self-esteem and a tendency to be walked upon.

  · Power Element (Month Branch): Chén (辰 - The Dragon) - Reservoir of Yang Earth. · This gives her a hidden, immense inner strength and resilience, but it is buried deep within her, currently trapped by her trauma.

  · Key Elemental Imbalance: · Damaged Wood (木): Wood represents growth, self-esteem, and the ability to "stand up like a tree." Her traumatic past has severely damaged this element, making her feel powerless, uprooted, and unable to defend her own boundaries. · Weak Fire (火): Fire represents passion, joy, and expression. Hers is weak, leading to a lack of self-confidence and difficulty expressing her true feelings.· Missing Element: Strong Metal (金). Metal represents structure, discipline, and the ability to "cut away" what is harmful. She lacks the internal mechanism to sever the lingering ties to her trauma.

Soul Beast: The Mountain Goat (岩羊 - Yán Yáng)

  · Unyielding Resilience: Finds its footing on the most precarious cliffs, representing her foundational Earth element—stable, persistent, and grounded against all odds.· Quiet Strength: Not an aggressive predator, but a resilient survivor. Its power lies in tenacity and a formidable, decisive force, mirroring her defensive strength and powerful loyalty.

Guardian Beast (Year): Dog (狗 - Gǒu). Represents her innate loyalty, devotion, and desire to protect those she cares about.

[Jian Zhi]: "The analysis is brutally accurate... Will her spirit endure this?"

Meanwhile, within Lian's Xīnyù, she found herself in a desolate landscape. This was The Wilted Garden. The earth, her Jǐ Tǔ nature, was cracked and barren. The trees and flowers, her Wood element, were brittle skeletons, their petals and leaves scattered like forgotten memories. At the heart of this sorrow stood a magnificent structure of gold and jade—The Gilded Cage. From within its opulent halls drifted the cloying stench of perfume and wine, mixed with the chilling echo of faceless, laughing nobles and the phantom sensation of grasping hands.

[Lian]: "Is... is anyone there?" her voice echoed weakly.

A warm, solid presence manifested beside her. It was her Guardian Beast, the Dog.

[Dog]: "You have finally arrived. This is your sanctuary and your prison: The Gilded Cage and the Wilted Garden. I do not know if you are ready, but the presence of the one who embodies the Fire and Metal you lack now stands beside you in the outer world. Your task is simple: you must fight."

Before she could process its words, the ground gave way, and she was plunged into darkness.

She awoke in her living nightmare. The opulent bar of Liánhuā District. The cold air on her exposed skin. The shadowy figures of noblemen with hungry eyes and reaching hands closing in around her.

[Lian]: "NO!... NOOO! THIS ISN'T REAL! IT'S A DREAM! WAKE UP! WAKE UP, LIAN! AHHHHHHH!"

She slapped her own face, desperate to shatter the illusion. She curled into a ball, her body wracked with violent shivers, tears carving paths through her despair. "[Sobbing uncontrollably] I-I don't w-want to be h-here... I want to be with h-him... P-Please... Jian Zhi... help me..."

Outside, Jian Zhi saw the tears streaming from her closed eyes, her body trembling. He understood immediately. Her trauma had ensnared her. Without a second thought, he reached out, his voice a low command.

  [Jian Zhi]: "Hold on, Lian."

He closed his eyes, placed a hand on her shoulder, and for the first time, unleashed Dream-Weaver's Judgment (织梦判 - Zhī Mèng Pàn). His consciousness tore through the veil, arriving in the heart of her nightmare.

  [Jian Zhi]: "Lian?"

His voice, deep and resonant, cut through her sobs. She looked up, her eyes wide with disbelief.

[Lian]: "Your Majesty?! How are you here? W-wait—" She hastily tried to wipe her tears and force a smile, to hide her shame.

He stepped from the shadows, his gaze holding hers, unwavering.

[Jian Zhi]: "It is okay to be weak here, in front of me. Do not hide from what you feel."

That was all it took. The dam broke. She rushed into his arms, clutching him as if he were the only solid thing in a collapsing world.

[Lian]: "I was so s-scared! I don't want to be here! Please, save me! [Her sobs were raw, guttural sounds of pure terror]"

[Jian Zhi]: "Lian," he said, his voice firm yet gentle. "I cannot save you. Only you can save yourself. Remember who you are. You are the leader of the Revengers' Troop. Now, wake up."

His words were a spark in the darkness. She pulled back, wiping her tears with a newfound resolve. "You're right. I am their leader. I will not be broken. Thank you for waking me up. [A warm, determined smile finally graced her lips]"

[Jian Zhi]: "Good. Now, go. Shatter every single one of these monsters."

She nodded, and her Skull-Breaker Knuckles materialized on her hands. With a guttural roar of pent-up rage, she kicked the door of her cage off its hinges. She faced the leering phantoms not as a victim, but as an avenger, her eyes burning with incinerating fury. She fell into the stance of The Devil's Way.

[Jian Zhi]: "Do not let a single one of them touch you. Make it swift."

  [Lian]: "Yes, Your Majesty!"

What followed was not a fight; it was a cathartic extermination. She became a whirlwind of devastating, precise violence. She moved with fluid, brutal grace, her fists and elbows becoming blurs of retribution. The sound of shattering bone and the wet thud of impacts filled the room as she systematically dismantled every phantom of her past, each blow exorcising a fragment of her deep-seated trauma. She screamed, not in fear, but in righteous, liberating rage.

[Jian Zhi]: "He is the last one. It is over."

With a thought, Jian Zhi dissolved the nightmare. The landscape shifted, returning to her Heart's Domain. But it was transformed. The Wilted Garden was now vibrant and alive. The earth was rich and dark, and towering, healthy trees now reached for a sun-drenched sky, their leaves a brilliant green. The Gilded Cage was gone, replaced by a simple, strong stone pavilion.

[Lian]: "How... how did you do this?"

[Jian Zhi]: "A power I now possess."

As she stood in awe, her Soul Beast, the Mountain Goat, appeared on a nearby cliff, its gaze steady and proud.

[Mountain Goat]: "You have conquered your deepest fear. You have found your balance by accepting the strength he represents—the Fire of will and the Metal of structure you lacked. Your soul is now bound to his not by weakness, but by a vow of protection. This rebirth is your doing, though his hand guided the way."

  [Lian]: "A rebirth into what?"

A celestial light erupted in the sky above. Her Guardian Dog looked up and announced,

[Dog]: "Behold. Your true nature, awakened: The Serene Fury Qilin (仁怒麒麟 - Rén Nù Qílín)."

Descending from the heavens was the majestic Qilin. Its body was sculpted from luminous white jade and gleaming silver; its mane and tail were a flowing cascade of calm, golden flames. Lush, verdant moss and flowering vines grew along its back and horns. It radiated an aura of benevolent, unshakeable authority.

The Qilin spoke, its voice a symphony of serenity and power that resonated deep within her soul.

[The Qilin]: "I am the reward for your courage. I grant you my grace. Henceforth, your step shall be my step. Be swift as serenity itself. Be the shield that intercepts fate. This is your power: The Qilin's Grace (麒麟步 - Qílín Bù)."

The Qilin's voice echoed, imparting the knowledge directly into her spirit.

"For Defense, you shall be The Unbreakable Vow (守誓 - Shǒu Shì). You will be The King's Shield (御盾 - Yù Dùn), appearing between him and death in the space of a single heartbeat. You will be The Ally's Salvation (援手 - Yuánshǒu), a sudden omen of rescue on the battlefield."

"For Judgment, you shall wield The Silent Execution (默判 - Mò Pàn). Your strikes, fueled by The Devil's Way and delivered with my speed, will fall like divine verdicts—swift, absolute, and soundless. You will break your enemies before they even know you have moved."

Lian felt the power settle within her, a profound and serene strength that perfectly complemented the fierce loyalty in her heart. She had been reborn as the kingdom's Celestial Interceptor (天御 - Tiān Yù), the sacred guardian fated to stand beside the Dragon.
