(192)Chapter 3.4.9 – The Clean-Up. (Part 1)

  Magic noises!

Her Extinction Scythe gently loses its form as it gets dissipated into the universe. The other scythe however, the process is rather quick almost as if she stored it in a Pocket Dimension rather than being deconstructed. The battle is over and that’s exactly why she’s doing this as there is no point in her having her weapons out. Not a single Shadow has survived the laws of the reaper and the same can somewhat be said about the environment as there are several vestiges of the battle everywhere. The majority of the Shadows were below A rank, these ones are unable to damage the environment even if they tried their best however, the very few whose strength was in that realm and above, those were able to leave a mark behind. Parts of the ground were scratched, holes were made, some areas the ground simply crumbled while in others, the vegetation had been “burned” by Black Magic and so on. They truly made a scene but, it does not come even close to the damage that the girl made, the only difference is that, her damage is not visible at least, in the normal sense. Why’s that? Quite simple, the Extinction element. It really does not leave anything behind and it’s quite noticeable in this scenario. The girl stands still, carefully sensing her environment. While she has 99.9 % certainty that all the Shadows have been extinguished, that 0.1 percent is enough to make her act in such a way. Not only that, the fissure is still present. While it’s closed, that’s only for now, something that can and will change at any moment. She can’t stay still for too long but neither can she run back towards her Empress as she’s far too occupied at the moment. To make it trickier, the Hero is also currently occupied. At the moment she’s all alone and that simple fact has made her act in this careful manner. However, the goddess of luck seems to be on her side as no trace of Shadows are present in this area nor in the other areas though that excludes the one where the Hero is. That one, well…

  I won’t spoil anything.

“Huff, I wasn’t expecting to use so much magic.”

Ah, Extinction magic really uses too much magic energy. My Empress warned me that long usage of it will deplete my magic reserves in an instant but, I wasn’t expecting for it to be this drastic. Once I defeated the Shadow Lord, it then took me around 10 minutes to eradicate the rest of the Shadows and while that was much faster than if I used only physical attacks, because of it I have currently used close to 60% of my magic energy. That’s far too much as I wasn’t spamming any of those big spells in fact, I was being quite careful as I wanted to minimize the damage done to this place. Sigh, can’t say that I was able to do so. But that really was a workout, now, wasn’t it?

Indeed, it was an intense workout for her.

The girl is sweating to the point that it can be easily seen. Her face for example, one where my Hero finds it quite attractive even though he has yet to see her eyes for example, anyone that stares at it is able to see a slight shine on it, one that is caused by the sweat getting hit by the light of the universe. While said light might not be strong, it’s enough for such a phenomenon to happen. Said sweat descends down her cheeks, caressing them but without dripping down to the ground instead, it descends down to the chin and only then it allows for gravity to enforce said rules on them. The same can be said about her entire body, the areas that are exposed to the elements of the universe, sweat can be seen on them and in some cases, it even descends down from the armour that she has. Yes, in some areas around her shoulders a thin line of sweat can just about be seen but only when the light shines on it as otherwise, unless in close distance it won’t be perceivable at all. Though, this simple phenomenon should be expected as it’s a law that living beings will sweat on some specific occasions. There is no need to exercise to be able to sweat as with a simple increase of temperature, the same can happen. This phenomenon however, it seems it will bother her by quite a bit but in a way that she would never expect to happen.

“Ah, the Hero is done? It seems he just left the library although… Why am I sensing a second magic signature?”

Am I sensing it wrong? It was for brief moments but I did sense a rather small magic signature next to him. Is there someone else here or, did he summon some sort of entity and therefore, it explains the second magic signature? If it was a Shadow, I would easily notice as their magic is very different and, in the case, it was a Void Construct the same can be said. Instead, it seems to be from a source that I have no clue who it belongs to. Even summons have similar magic to their owners as these “creations” have some type of direct connection to them and therefore, have some sort of similarities because of it. What I sensed however, couldn’t be that much different from his magic. But in this case, his magic alone is already far too different from anything in the world. I don’t think it’s as high and as dense as my Empress’s magic. Her magic is extremely oppressive to the point that it can even suffocate from how dense it is, almost as if I’m inside of space with little oxygen from how hard it’s to breathe. No, even when he showed to me that he is stronger than me, I didn’t feel that oppression at all but, that does not mean I didn’t feel the intensity of it either. I… I really can’t explain what I was sensing and even feeling. His magic is so calm, warm even. Not only that, it’s extremely smooth as it traverses through the space as I couldn’t sense any irregularities on it. In fact, I think its shape should also have the same principle. Yet, even though it didn’t feel oppressive, terrifying or simply horrifying, I still felt my body screaming at me to be careful. Telling me to be careful so that I don’t awaken the beast.

“Ah, I shouldn’t be standing here thinking about his magic. I will just ask him about… No, I will see how he acts first. Maybe I just imagined that magic signature and it actually belongs to him in some way or another. Yes, I will just-”

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

  Drip!

A single droplet of sweat gently but quite noticeable descends down from her mask, more so from what’s underneath it, passing through the small opening it has between the mask and her face, slowly caressing down her left cheek and then falling down to the ground. A simple event but one that she noticed as she was speaking, even stopping her from doing so as her mind runs towards a place that she previously tried her hardest to remove from it. Even though she understands that the previous battle was a workout for her, it seems the consequences of such was quickly forgotten or at the very least, it didn’t even cross her simple mind. The fact that she sensed an additional magic signature made her unsure if it belongs to my Hero or if something else is with him. Or someone of course. This simple distraction took her attention to her current uhm… Situation? One does not understand why she’s worried about it but, it really seems that the fact she’s sweaty has made her conscious about it. Why’s that? A natural phenomenon that happens to every single living being, even plants have a similar phenomenon that happens to them.

“I should clean myself first… Ye-Yes, he won’t go anywhere even if I take a little too much time to greet him.”

An excuse on her part but one that seems to be based on logic. After this, before leaving she takes a quick glance at the destruction that she “caused”. Her Empress most probably will comment something about it but, she still needs to be accurate on her report once her Empress is available, there’s no need to hide what she did.

  At the lobby.

She’s quick to enter the lobby, not to the point where she’s running around but it can be seen a certain degree of hurry on her body movements and of course actions. The first thought that crossed her mind was to actually take a quick shower but for some reason, she quickly rejected the idea of such. One wonders why as it would be the best course of action not only that, she does not need to take a long shower or any of that sort as a simple shower will be enough to clean the sweat and of course, the thing that worries her the most, the smell. She does not seem to be one of those barbarians that do not take care of their hygiene in fact, both her and her Empress seem to be the opposite of them. Even his “lovely protagonist” is in the same realm. However, my Hero is not some idiot either, he knows well that in this field of work such events happen regularly. Fighting strong monsters, traversing long distances, in some cases while the distance itself might be small, the terrain is quite difficult, making them work hard to traverse it etc. It’s normal for sweat to start to form and it’s actually a good thing as sweat indicates that said person is hydrated enough for such to happen but of course, too much without rehydrating is a bad thing. Indeed, don’t forget to drink water, in preference to well water. Filtered of course, one needs to always be careful.

“Hmm, I think there are a few towels somewhere around here...”

Her memory is not incorrect whatsoever however, said towels belong to the kitchen not only that, they are nowhere big enough to cover her thighs for example, let alone her entire body. Though in this situation it seems she just wants to “rub” the excess sweat, the one that is visible to him. Yet again my Hero is back to being in her mind, the centre of attention but this time around, she’s quite unaware of such. The girl walks up to the kitchen, quickly looking for said towels in one of the cabinet drawers. She’s more than familiar with the layout of the lobby and the same can be said of what’s inside of every single cabinet and that’s exactly why she was able to precisely choose the correct drawer in her first try. The towel as expected is small, a square with roughly 50 centimetres in both directions and with a fabric that is specific to soak liquids. However, she won’t clean herself in the middle of the kitchen. Instead, she walks up to the “leisure” area, the one where all of those novels are. The reason for this is that she can use the sofa as a way for her to comfortably clean herself.

  Towel noises!

Before she did anything she took off some of her clothes, armour to be more precise. She has a few pieces of armour throughout her body such as in the shoulders, the thighs and even around her waist. Ah indeed, my Hero description of her outfit truly was poorly done however, I can understand why it was so rashly done by him. Compared to his lovely protagonist, her outfit really is much simpler however, that does not mean it’s not something that cannot be appreciated. It seems that the irregularity of her Empress has a decent taste in fashion or maybe it’s the girl who has a decent taste instead. The armour present on the shoulders are the first ones to be removed. At first sight they seem to be made of steel however thanks to the magic present on them and of course properties of such, it’s enough to reach the conclusion that said armour was created by using magic and in this case, the same one that her Scythe was constructed. But unlike her scythe, the colours of it are much simpler with a simple but eye-catching snow-white colour, one that for some inexplicable reason does not shine nor reflect the light that hits it. In fact, all of the armour present on her body is in the same way and made of the same materials. The armour on her waist is the next one, an armour that is above the belt but connected to it or in other terms, to remove the armour the belt also needs to be removed. In this situation, at the front but more so towards the left if one is seeing the girl from the front, there is some sort of a small “metal” clasp, one that once open it disconnects the belt allowing for her to remove it. Those pieces of fabric both at the front and at the back are not part of the belt but instead part of the “top” as he called previously. Ah, the belt is rather large and it seems to resemble those a Kimono for example tends to have, in correct terms it’s an obi rather than a normal belt. In her case, it’s coloured with dark colours, ones are three different shades of grey and with a gentle touch of a golden colour around the clasp. These shades of grey seem to be charcoal (the darkest grey), normal grey (middle point) and a light grey (the name suggests its standing). The charcoal colour is the one that is the strongest, colouring the majority of the obi however, a few details are decorated on it, drawing should be more accurate and these ones are coloured in the normal grey. Though at the edges, the light grey is present, a gentle touch of it of course but nonetheless still noticeable. This belt covers her waist by entirety and even a few short centimetres of her hips. The armour present on it is on her hips, the sides of course and it circles them towards the “middle” per say; however, it only does so for a few centimetres, ending in a somewhat pointy way but without being sharp. They seem to be connected to the edge of the obi and that might as well be the reason for why it covers a tiny bit of the hips.
