(130)Chapter 2.7 – A New Hero in The Making. (Part 8)

Alice's red sharp eyes divert to the ground, they are having trouble accepting this unfair reality, they simply are doing their best to refuse what Kiana is stating and yet, when she looks towards the Elder Black Wolf, reality quickly forces her to accept what Kiana is saying. This skill, this Shadow Transformation skill is just like she said, unfair, it simply is something far too powerful to have and yet, the enemies of the human race and even the world itself, all of them seem to possess.

  Is this a joke?

Is the world telling a nowhere near funny joke?

Are the gods really this cruel?

“(And yet, she’s not worried at all... I on the other hand, I’m shaking down to my very core even if I’m doing my best not to.)”

She really is having a hard time fathoming Kiana's coldness, calm state of mind and of course, overwhelming confidence in her strength. Maybe it’s her fear that is making her have such a hard time, maybe it’s the fact that she fought the Elder head on and lost to him but, this was before he did this, if she couldn’t win and the difference was that big, imagine now then. It’s getting on her nerves however there’s nothing that she can do but only trust Kiana. Ah, her pride got shattered into small pieces it seems.

Kiana has a natural and clam pose, with only one half of her scissors in one hand, her right hand. It more than seems that, when Alice was fighting the Elder, she made one of those halves disappear. While she has this natural and calm pose, she’s ready to strike down the Elder, her golden eyes are fixated on her target, her soft platinum-pink hair sparkles from time to time, all thanks to the increase of her magic energy usage. While the Elder is weaker than her, in this state of his, she will be using a tiny itty bit more of magic energy to defeat him.

  Or will she?

She brings her right foot forward a few centimetres then, she bends her right knee until the back of her knee (popliteal fossa) does a 90-degree angle using her thighs as a “straight line” and her calf as another “straight line”. She then slowly and elegantly drags her left foot backwards until no longer her body allows her to do so, at least without moving from her current position that is, and while doing so she directly faces the Elder and stares at him. Her golden eyes are shining but they have a deadly and cold stare on them, her chin is a little down thanks to the position she has her body but thanks to this, it makes said stare from her that much more terrifying to the one that was demised and sentenced to be facing her in battle. After confirming who her target is, his strength, the distance between them and of course, the target reflexes, she brings the half of her scissor to her left side, making the tip of the blade facing fully backwards however, she has the sharp side of the blade facing to the left and not to her. It almost seems like; she has a sword on her waist and while still unsheathe, she grabs the handle of said sword and she’s mere moments from unsheathing it.

Ah, she’s ready to go then.

It’s not what I think, nor what they think either, it’s a simple fact that none of us can deny and the Elder Black Wolf knows that well, very well in fact. Even with the Shadow Transformation he still knows that he can’t match her and he also knows that, he does not have much time, he will have to somehow end this in this next clash. However, what else can he really do unless using such skill? Unless he goes to these lengths to have a slight chance at defeating her? He has seen all of his “family” getting slaughter like mere weaklings in front of him, he has to avenge them, to take revenge on these two, make them pay and yet, even though one of them was right in front of him, because of Kiana, he couldn’t go for the kill.

He was and is afraid of her.

Something about her is making him feel in such a way and this is why he’s using this desperate skill, this deadly skill, one that will cost his life. It’s his last struggle in life and one that he will do everything in his power to bring down the foe that has made him suffer this much and that has made his pride crumble down into pieces.

  A futile struggle.

  “Setsuna Dance – First Strike.”

  What happened?

A mere moment ago the Elder Black Wolf was standing, his magic energy still climbing, his physical form now fully gone and substituted by a magical one, one that has a dark ominous colour to it and with a few shades of a dark purple colour to it. Instead, Kiana now is in his supposed place and only a few magic residues are seen next to her.

What did she do to him?

That’s a good question to ask indeed and one that those two made although said question never was actually asked as they cannot fathom what could’ve possibly happened. They can deduce that Kiana defeated him as she’s “cleaning” the half of the scissors by simply doing a violent movement with her arm, almost as if she’s forcefully throwing the “blood” on the blade into the ground. Not only that, she then sheathes the half of her scissors on her left side of her waist, as if she has an invisible sword sheath, making the half of her scissors disappear once she’s done.

“Wh-What? The wolf is dead, right? Did she defeat him, right? Uh? Di-Did you see anything Miss Florence? I have no clue what just happened…”

This story is posted elsewhere by the author. Help them out by reading the authentic version.

You just blinked and the wolf is gone. That’s a simple but accurate description of what seem too have happened to your green eyes however, reality couldn’t be so much different it’s just that, you are far too weak to be able to see or even understand what Kiana actually did

  “I’m as clueless as you are… I didn’t see it either…”

Just like Anya and although she’s far more powerful than her, Alice is also far too weak to be able to have seen what Kiana did but, on her case, she’s able to understand it, whatever Kiana did was so fast that, she defeated the Elder Black Wolf in the time span of a blink of an eye. But there’s no point in me narrating just how surprised, shocked, speechless and in complete disbelief they are after all, I was the only one that was able to see it.

It was a single strike, an upper swing but also slightly diagonal to her right, slicing the wolf in half. Before she did this strike, she first dashed towards him, this dash as fast as the speed of the sound, covering the measly 30 meters of distance between them in less than a blink of an eye. While she was extremely elegant while she did so, the force behind her dash is something else as the ground beneath her feet was crumbled when she did so, leaving a mark on the ground with it, on the solid concrete ground mind you, a mark that is has big as her feet but as deep as the height of said feet. The strike however, was even faster than the speed of sound, I would say as fast as the thunder from a thunderstorm, matching her early Lighting Dash in terms of speed. What makes this a beautiful display of strength is the fact that she didn’t use any magic at all to pull this off, just her pure physical strength on her legs to dash that fast and the physical strength and speed of her arm and hand to cleanly cut the Elder without any resistance at all. What I didn’t mention is that, she didn’t actually stop where the Elder was but in fact, a few meters past him as she was only able to stop her momentum from her dash in that moment.

  Magic noises!

With the supposed Shadow Wolf gone, she makes the half of her scissor disappear into nothing, leaving only a few magic particles with a dark shade of gold to them. It’s done, the battle is over and they have won, Kiana has achieved victory. It’s hard for the only two of them to fully process that fact and when I say “only two” I mean it as the other cowards that were there, they all escaped when they understood Alice has lost.

“What did I say? Piece of cake! You had nothing to worry about.”

Before she said this, she first walked up to the two of them and let me tell you something, she did so with the happiest walk anyone can even imagine. Then, once she got close enough to them, with a happy tone of voice, with her chest puffed out, filled with pride, with her beautiful golden eyes shining not with power but with sheer confidence on what she just did, she says this to them, if before they were speechless then now, they are the same. Nothing has changed in that sense, their mouths are wide open, almost to the point that their jaws seem this close to be touching the ground, their sharp eyes are the same although Anya's eyes are actually burning with excitement from what Kiana just did while Alice… She’s actually the same way, it seems the fear and despair she was feeling from the Elder Black Wolf is gone and now that I say this, maybe his usage of the skill Fear, it actually had an effect on her once his strength reached A-. Huh, I didn’t know said effect still persisted even though the target never got scared at first.

Anyway, to Alice, while she has no clue what happened, since Kiana did something that was so fast that, she was not able to keep up, it actually motivates her beyond anything else as she starts to believe that, she might one day reach this level of strength or at the very least, she will be doing her damn best for it. A new goal was acquired, one that for now is meters from her, hundred, no, right now it’s at hundreds of kilometres, a distance that it will take her a long time to reach but, as she said to Taniah once, she will eventually get there. Anya is more excited not to what Kiana did but more so on her scissors, the half of it in this case, it seems her “research mentality” starts to take control of her thoughts, as it pounders how the hell did Kiana summon them or if they even are summoned in the first place.

In short words, they are beyond excited.

Thankfully, no one was heavily injured and while Alice had small but several injuries, they were all cured by Anya's questionable but extremely effective potion. The group of students on the other hand, didn't suffer any injuries at all and we, they, can thank Kiana for it as they would’ve been mauled by the Black Wolves Fang. However, I cannot say the same about their mental state but, nothing that a little bit of time and in the worst-case scenarios therapy, it won’t help out make them get over this terrifying event. It’s thanks to Kiana that they were able to leave unscaled, I don’t want to take out Alice efforts or even make her seem like she didn’t do anything but, if Kiana was just a few moments later, a bloodbath and a disaster would’ve happened to them as Alice wouldn’t get there in time. However, what leaves a bad taste on my mouth and it seems to be only in my mouth, it is how none of them even stayed there or in this case, since they are that weak, at the very least called for help, no, once they saw Alice losing, they basically left her to die. These damn cowards…

While the three of them are conversing about what just happened, the student council arrived a minute or so later and as anyone can expect, they are more than ready to tackle whatever was making the Academy shake thanks to its magic energy. Yes, the Elder Black Wolf reached a level where everyone in the Academy could feel a type of heavy pressure coming from him and with it, the student council were the first ones to feel and get ready for whatever might be happening. Once they got here, the three of them proceed to tell them what has just happened. No one knows what was the cause for these monsters to appear nor do they know if someone is behind it, leaving only uncertainties and questions to whatever was the cause.

How did these monsters even come here in the first place?

That is a good question after all, the Academy is packed with people, how did they all manage to miss monsters of this calibre? This is why both Alice and Kiana think that someone is involved but they have no proof to sustain their theory at all. To make sure everything is actually fine inside of the Academy, the student council with both Kiana and Alice, they went on patrols around the Academy until the end of the day, hoping to find something that could explain this but at the same time, hopeful to not find anything at all as it would be more than disastrous if another group of students got in a similar situation. As I said several times before, they would stumble upon a complete and utterly massacre. Fortunately, nothing of that sort happened but unfortunately, they also didn’t find anything at all. They bid their goodbyes at the end of the day and go on their merry day, planning a meeting for tomorrow so that they can discuss what happened a few hours ago. The rest of her afternoon and night, they all go like normal.
