“It was them again... They still are bothering me even in classes. I… I don’t understand why. I didn’t do anything to them!”
She raises her voice right at the end, but this is a simple cause from her emotions getting out of control for brief moments. She’s far too weak to fight back, she has too much fear to talk back but she’s doing her best to not let them consume her. Only those who have suffered what she’s suffering, they are the ones who can understand her so what’s the point in telling Kiana something like this? She’s so strong after all. No, this is exactly why she is telling Kiana, they tried to mess with her and failed to do so, she retaliated back, fought back and won even when the odds were so unfavourable against her, so much so that, even fate seemed to be against her.
I want to be like her.
I want to be as strong as her.
I can trust her.
She can help me out!
I know who they are…
With Kiana I can take revenge on them! Kiana can easily win against them, their vile insults don’t harm her at all, they are far too physically weak to push her around even though Kiana is smaller than I am. Yes!
With Kiana, I can make them pay!
“No… I don’t want you to get yourself in trouble because of me. I-I will try to find a way to avoid them.”
Anya really is a kind girl, she’s doing her best to keep those negative thoughts at bay even though there is a good chance that she could use Kiana to force those bunch of idiots to stop their bullying. She’s really suffering from it so much that she's willing to do everything she can, even if it costs her own freedom, to avoid suffering. After all, who likes to suffer?
Kiana- Are you going to stop being yourself because of them? Are you going to stop doing what you want because of them? Are you sure about that? Is that what you want?
“Of course not! But, what can I do? I’m far too weak and I don’t have the courage to talk back...”
Kiana- Well, you have two options then. Either you can train like hell so that you can become strong and with it, reducing the time you will spend on your research so that you can force them to stop or-
“You can count on me. If they are messing with you, just call my name. If they dare to insult you, just call my name. If they ever lay their hands on you, just call my name.”
“I will come running towards you and I will save you!”
She had a serious face at the beginning, she was and is staring at Anya, at her green sharp eyes, ones that are filled with pain and suffering but also ones that wish for this suffering to disappear. Her voice mellows down and at the same time, so does her golden eyes however, right at the end she increases her tone of voice by a timber, her golden eyes sparkle with confidence and her soft platinum-pink hair shines with strength.
What was she expecting from Kiana?
Not this of course but, this is exactly what she needed to hear, to know and to feel. Her green eyes become watery, ready to burst at any moment. Her lips, they waver, tremble as she does her best to not weep, to not cry. Both of her hands are in her chest, embracing each other with all of their might, also doing their best so that her eyes do not burst into a cascade of tears. However, it’s proving hard to do so, making her rub her eyes in an attempt of either removing her tears or from stopping them from falling down her reddish cheeks.
Anya- Ah… Thank you… Thank you…
“Sigh…”
With a loud and profound sigh, she calms down, with enough rubbing she cleans her eyes and with a second or so of silence, it’s enough for her mouth to let go of a comprehensive sentence.
Anya- Tell me something, why do you want to join? You didn’t seem to have any interest in my research so, why? What made you change your mind about it?
Kiana- Eh? Did I really seem like that? Did I sound like that? I’m sorry, it wasn’t my intention… It’s just that, at that time, I wanted to see all the options that were available for me. I'm new here, new in these types of environments and because of it, I didn’t want to make a bad decision and regret it later in life. Anyway, since I know how to handle myself a tiny itty bit with magic and since you’re doing magic research, I thought that I could do something useful for the world if I join you.

Anya- You want to do something that grand? I envy you; I’m only doing this out of my selfish desire… There is something that I have to find and I won’t stop until I do so.
From her sad look, from her eyes being mere moments from crying, she now has a serious look on her face, her sharp eyes are sharp and assure of what she said. This is something that she has to do, something for herself, something “selfish” as she said, but nonetheless, it does not make it any worse at all. There’s nothing wrong with pursuing something that can and will help you out, make your life better with it even. This determination to get it done is rubbing on Kiana and with it, relief comes, affirming to her that she has indeed made the right choice on being here with Anya.
Kiana- Is that so? What is it that you have to do? Since I will be here for a long time, I hope, I think it would be better for me to know about it so that I can help out.
Anya- Yes, you are right, what I want to find, or in this case, to create, it’s a special potion that can heal a specific disease, one that unfortunately, society has yet to find a cure for it. In other words, I want to create a cure for it.
Kiana- Ooo! You comment on me about being grand and all of that but, what you said, it seems much more than I could ever! Anyway, that’s our grand objective then but, what type of disease is?
“Magic Deficiency.”
Kiana- Wait what? Isn’t that supposed to be a status ailment? One that you can easily get if you’re not careful with your reserve of magic energy? What do you mean by disease?
A good question indeed, Miss Kiana. As the name suggests, Magic Deficiency is a status ailment that anyone, as long as this living being has magic it can happen to them, it’s something that happens when your magic reserve reaches low levels, very low levels. I’m talking about 10% or less and of course, the lower the harsher the symptoms you will have and in some cases, you can even die from it. However, the body makes you “collapse” before that happens but anyway, I will explain what it happens. The moment you hit those 10% the first thing that you feel is an immense amount of tiredness and that’s it really, nothing too dangerous but something that makes your eyes almost instantly shut close from how tired you are. Forced through this and you reach between 5-7%, then the symptoms get more serious but still nothing dangerous. The tiredness is still there but now with a simple “dizzy world” to help out, or in other words you start to feel dizzy so much that, throwing up becomes almost mandatory not only that, a mild headache also appears to help out the situation. Below 5% then things start to get serious, a massive headache appears out of “thin air” and with it, your visions start to get blurry and, in some cases, you will faint, preventing the “user” to kill himself from overextending himself. The more you go down the harsher the headache will be until of course, you are at 0% then, you just die from exhaustion. I think it is almost impossible for this to happen in normal cases, while all of the previous symptoms you can “easily” cure by just resting, once you are below 5%, I can tell you and assure you that, you will be in a world of pain while you recover. But, enough of my rumbling, it seems Anya has a lot more to say about this.
Anya- You’re right, there are two types of Magic Deficiency, one that is caused from using too much magic, a status ailment as you said, and then there is the other one, one that I want to find the cure for it, a Magic Deficient caused by a disease that simply makes your body unable to recover as it forces himself to consistently use magic.
Well, just like Kiana, this is the first time that I’m hearing anything of this sort. But, since none of us are a doctor, a scientist or a specialist, there’s nothing that we can say about it. Anyway, something is missing but that might more be because of the name that Anya gave it rather than the disease itself.
Kiana- Alright, that’s the first that I’ve heard about it but, it won’t change what I have to do. I will do my best to help you find a cure for it! You can count me on that!
“Thank you Kiana, you don’t know how much that means to me.”
“(I have hopes that we…we will find a cure for it. Once that happens, I will introduce her to you, Bronya.)”
With a gentle smile on her face, with her eyes looking soft and with her head slightly tilted sideways, she thanks Kiana who just smiles at her with sheer happiness and with a resolve to make this happen. However, with this, time did its thing again or in other words, it’s 9:23 am. It’s not late by any means but, both of them are missing classes and of course, the moment Kiana gaze unconsciously switches towards a clock that is in the middle of the wall in front of her, her face quickly switches to one that is filled with despair and desperation. Her eyes are wide open the moment she notices she’s late and with it, her mouth does the same thing ready to let out into the world what she thinks about this unfortunate situation.
“Awawa! I’m late!”
Yep, good observation Kiana, but oh well, with panic consuming her petite mind making her unable to do anything as she’s panicking, or at least anything useful has she’s moving around doing god knows what. Seriously, she first puts both of her hands on her head, grabbing her smooth hair as she says this or should I say, as she screams it? Anyway, after that, she runs in place, looking in all directions trying to figure out whatever she’s trying to look for. Who knows, from this she might as well be looking for some Reverse Time type of magic inside of here. Then, as if god himself told her what to do, she quickly bids her goodbyes to Anya and with all of her might, she runs out of the lab towards her class. What’s wrong with her? That was way too much! Talk about overreacting! Anyway, it did leave Anya speechless but with a gentle smile on her face.
I do believe that now, things will turn around for the better.
Now Anya will be able to enjoy her academic future
And of course, I believe both of them will find a cure.
