Chapter Two: Learning To Be Caring

"Where the fuck did I leave that spare laptop?" Tomoe rummaged through the storage room. "Goddamnit! Did Sylvia touch this room!? She knows that she can't put shit back!" Tomoe yelled. Tomoe felt a slight elevation change. Looking down to see the laptop she was looking for. Right...I left it on the floor. Tomoe picked up the laptop. "Is it good?" Tomoe opened the laptop. Fuck...the screens cracked...and some of the keys popped out. I really have to stop stomping around here. Tomoe sighed.

As Tomoe walked back to the room where Valentina was, she heard Valentina having a fluent conversation with her officers. "Alright, what the hell is going on? Because Yuzhen might be smart, but she ain't teaching someone fluent English in twenty minutes." Tomoe cocked her brow. "Well, apparently. She knows English and was just being polite by speaking in Russian. As we had assumed that she could only speak Russian, she didn't want to be rude by correcting us." Nikki answered. "Why didn't we think about asking if she could speak English?" Angel scratched her head, "Boss told Nikki to translate, so." Ceceilia shrugged.

"Boss, why didn't you just see if she could understand English?" Willow asked, "She's not the brightest tool in the shed, more like a flickering lightbulb." Yeon-ji said. "I should beat your ass for that comment, Yeon-ji." Tomoe snarled. "Boss has the laptop, let's get this Google Meet set up." Mia grabbed the laptop out of Tomoe's arms, "Hey, Mia, wait." Tomoe watched Mia open the laptop. "Uhh...boss. You did remember what you were getting this for, right?" Sylvia tilted her head, "Why is there a foot-shaped indent on this laptop?" Yuzhen asked.

"Well...I was looking around for it in the storage room. While I was looking for it, I was getting more and more frustrated. So, I started stomping around while looking. And then I felt my foot a couple of inches higher than the other. And that's when I remembered that I had set it on the floor." Tomoe looked at the floor. "It's okay. I can use this just fine." Valentina smiled, taking the laptop. "Yuzhen, go steal her a laptop tomorrow," Tomoe ordered. "You can't do that, stealings bad!" Valentina looked up from the broken laptop. "Sorry, sorry. Yuzhen, 'buy' her a laptop tomorrow." Tomoe ordered. "Got it, Onna-Oyabun." Yuzhen nodded.

"Valya, is that you?" "Yeah, Nikolai. Is mom, aunty, Elizaveta, and our babushkas doing okay?" Valentina asked. "I could get mom, aunty, and Veta to come here. They should be closing the flower shop soon." Nikolai answered. "Oh yeah, how long has it been since I disappeared?" Valentina asked, "It's been four days." Nikolai answered. "Oh, Valya. They're home, I'll go get them." Nikolai left the screen. "I missed four days of work." Valentina pouted. Is no one in her family going to question why she was missing? Or was her little brother just that trusting of her safety? Yeon-ji cocked her brow.

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

"Valya, where are you?" "Mariya, you can't just ask your daughter that before asking for her safety." "You're right, Anastasiya. Valya, sweetie. Are you okay? You've been gone for four days." Mariya asked. "I'm okay, mom. I was accidentally kidnapped by the yakuza. But they're sorry about it." Valentina answered. "So, you're in Japan, Valya? Man, we've always wanted to go to Japan when we heard about it as little girls." Elizaveta smiled. "Why did they take you, Valya?" Anastasiya asked, "Something about Valentin being connected to bad people?" Valentina looked over her shoulder.

"Hey, does your family speak English?" Nikki asked, "They can." Valentina nodded. "Good, good. Valentin Smirnov is the biggest narcotic dealer in the Russian underworld. Usually, illegal substances brought into Russia go through a pharmacy owned by the biggest Russian mob. Four years ago, we found out that someone had spread lies about our dealings to all of our Russian connections. Just last year, some of our men who were undercover found out about the person who did that. The person was Valentin Smirnov, our men took a picture of him for reference. That picture just so happened to feature Valentin buying flowers from Valentina. This mistake led to three of our top officers, who have little knowledge of gendered Russian names, to kidnap Valentina since she was the main focus of the picture." Tomoe explained.

"So, my husband is a bad person?" Elizaveta asked, "Yeah. Due to our mistake, we'll compensate you with 19,989,360 yen converted to 10 million rubles and any request that we can reasonably do as we return Valentina as a form of apology." Yuzhen said. "I have a request." Nikolai said, "What is it, little dude?" Willow asked. "Could my big sister stay with you? She's worked really hard and done a lot of good things in our community. So, I want Valya to live out her dream." Nikolai answered. "You got it, your big sister will be perfectly safe with us." Ceceilia saluted.

"Please send us the location of your flower shop. We'll send one of our men there next week with our compensation payment." Yeon-ji bowed, "Okay, will do." Mariya typed the shop's location into the Google Meet chat before ending the call. Great, now I have extra work. Running a yakuza and now being a protector of this...beautiful angel of a woman. Tomoe groaned.
