Chapter 26 / Si / 170 ACD-12-6 10:09 a.m. Moon Two-Unio

... There was news from Moon Two.

This place was the first one, a starting point for all the attacks. Recently, it had been reported that the energy forms’ remains had reappeared. People said it was ominous at

  Moon Two.

That was the reason all the celebrations were to take place on Planet One. Why Moon Two was announced to be a monument. Domini decided to cover it up, until it was safe. Si knew. Arct told him when they met.

Si was about to meet with the Hal girl, but his devices beeped. Someone was using one of his unofficial Gates. The one in the library.

This was the first time someone was spotted after he added tracking. Si was excited.

To pass the security layers, one had to have quite a level of energy. Si was curious as well: who could it be? Was it the Alena girl, as she had to use not tracked Gate before?

… Dual. She could have enough energy to pass these layers. Very interesting.

Si wondered how many people figured out those not tracked Gates.

  What a loophole it was.

Now, he needed to check it, as he knew in detail how to use his Gate and how to check where the person who had just used it went. He was prepared. After the last situation, he made sure he would be able to track more.

He informed the Hal girl and transported himself directly to the library. He quickly passed levels of security energy and went after the person. He crossed the Gate… and that was it.

  Moon Two.

Si landed in the center of the destroyed experimental space, the old lab space. He tried to detect energy; he wanted first to know if this someone had detectable energy to fight and, more or less, what kind of level.

The knowledge of how to track energy and how to detect it accurately was missing. How unfortunate. How useful it would be.

… And indeed, there was a person surrounded by a slight energy shape; this person entered the laboratory. It was building number five, the central one.

All the rubble, shattered equipment—all was cleaned a long time ago. It didn’t look like there could be anything to look for. But, as today was the anniversary, this person had to be connected to the victims. Or to the attackers.

Considering the recent news, it was not secure to travel here. The Gate that was used was not an official one. It didn’t look like a family trip to honor the dead. Suspicious.

The energy Si detected was not huge the first time he checked. Even more suspicious. If this person could pass his security barrier before, why was the energy now difficult to detect?

He calmly went to the lab number five; he had many questions, yet it didn’t seem there was any danger. His idea was first to try to talk, then to decide.

When he entered the main hall of the destroyed building, the person noticed him and appeared ready to flee, scared.

So, a family rather than someone connected to the attackers. Or scared because caught doing something?

“Do not run,” Si said loudly, but slowly and calmly. “Let’s talk.”

The person looked at him, suddenly looking surprised.

Si had a thought. Was it her—his fiancée? He wasn’t truly sure. Lukai would know. But did she know him? It looked like she was surprised by him, as though she hadn’t expected him—not just anybody—to be here. Did they meet? He hadn’t seen his fiancée in person before. Also, his face was not widely known.

  Who was this person?

“Why are you here? I am just asking; all is fine,” Si said it slowly, calmly.

He didn’t make any moves that could scare the other person. He could sense energy around her becoming stronger. So, it was not a powerless someone, he noted. His own energy he hid so as not to build tension.

“I am here because my parent died here.” It was the answer.

It was she, a woman. Si was surprised to hear the voice; it sounded a bit unnatural; she was trying to modulate it, but it was for sure a woman.

... It had to be her. Also. She confirmed it was because of the anniversary.

“All right, I will not disturb you; do not run away,” he said.

Si could detect that her energy had calmed down. He didn’t move from his original position. He only observed.

She didn’t go any further, to the other rooms or labs.

He watched her when she paid respects.

She wore clothes all in blue, which was quite distinctive. Was it, though? Maybe she liked this color? Face covered, hair covered. He didn’t comment on this; he didn’t want her to run away again. If it were her… she proved she knew how to avoid Shadows’ swirl; who knew what else she knew. And from where did she have the knowledge?

Blue! It suddenly struck him. Wasn’t it the Sect’s funeral color?

  Suspicious? Intriguing?

Si was patient. It was always better when people felt not scared but comfortable. Then the talk was honest. He needed to wait and hold his questions inside.

After a moment, she started to act strangely—she was murmuring, talking to herself while walking around. She stopped paying attention to him, but did she? Si observed further.

With every passing minute, Si grew more certain she could be his fiancée. That dance a few days ago, performed by an odd person. But it could not be his fiancée; it could be more of them, slightly lunatic people with energy, traveling to destroyed places…

“I would like to come back,” she suddenly said to him.

“Where?” Si asked, but she didn’t say anything more.

She started to walk to the Gate, he followed, ready to chase but not showing any signs he wanted to. As if she somehow knew his intent, she acted calmly, not provoking his actions.

They slowly walked together. She still murmured to herself.

Then, from around a corner, an energy form appeared.

A small swirl of destructive energy aimed at them, as they were surely the only biological forms on the whole moon at the moment.

  Not good!

Si wanted to protect them both, so he created an energy shield. He knew how to fight off this kind of remains, especially not the considerable ones, so he was calm.

  But she refused his shield!

She was saying something to herself. Si couldn’t grasp what exactly she was saying; she was not scared and was angry—she looked angry.

The anniversary. She was angry; her parent died here; she was angry and wanted to what? Fight? She moved away from him, ten steps or more; it looked like she wanted to approach this energy form.

  She really wanted to fight.

That was not wise, Si had a brief thought.

“… Let me try!” she shouted at him before he managed to say something.

Si tried to expand his shield; it was better to protect her, if she was the same person they had spotted—dual or not, her energy could be great, but was she trained to fight?

These remains acted sleepy, but what if they awakened? What if there were more of them?

  But she rejected it again!

She shouted at him again, “I want to try, I need to try, you—”

Then he heard her saying something that made him freeze.

  “… Silly!”

He froze, and that was enough for her to start running toward the Gate.

Si wanted to chase her, but suddenly something grabbed him!

Something blocked his energy; it was the second time he had experienced this feeling. Was it her doing this again? How? He was stuck in his shield and could only watch.

She ran toward the energy form—the remains of those that could destroy whole moons.
