Volume 2 chapter 4

  ### Volume 2: Upper World

  **Chapter 4: Lost and Found**

  Kira ran.

Her boots pounded the fleshy ground, veins underfoot pulsing like they were chasing her. The sticky vines whipped at her ankles, barbs snagging her pants, but she didn’t stop. Sword sheathed on her back, arms pumping, breath coming in sharp gasps. The split sky above blurred—blue on one side, pink on the other—as she sprinted deeper into the throbbing landscape. Demons howled in the distance, but they weren’t after her. Not yet.

She ran far—miles, maybe, the ground shifting under her like it was breathing. Her veins glowed faint red, pumping blood faster to keep her legs moving. Sweat stung her eyes. She had to find the others. Had to warn them about Sky—about whatever that thing inside him was.

Finally, her lungs burning, she slowed to a jog, then a walk. The vines thinned here, opening into a small clearing of soft, red-mush ground. She sat down hard on a low vein-ridge, sword across her knees, catching her breath. “What the hell was that?” she muttered to herself, wiping sweat from her brow. Sky’s face when he’d told her to run—eyes wide, blood dripping, like he was fighting something inside.

  A rustle.

Kira’s head snapped up. Sword half-drawn.

Abel stepped out from behind a cluster of vines—pale, breathing hard, flesh chains twitching at his fingertips like nervous snakes. He looked lost, eyes darting.

“Kira?” he said, voice low. “What are you doing here? Sky said to run with the group.”

She sheathed her sword halfway. “I stayed with him. But… something happened. It took over. He told me to find you guys.”

Abel’s face went paler. “Took over? What do you mean?”

Kira stood, gripping her sword hilt. “No time. Where’s the group?”

Abel pointed toward the pink horizon. “That way. They’re heading for the big house we saw earlier. The fleshy one. Come on.”

Kira nodded. She took off running again—faster now, legs fueled by that red glow in her veins. Abel’s footsteps faded behind her, but she didn’t look back. The group. Find the group.

  We cut back to Abel.

The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

He stood alone in the clearing, watching Kira disappear into the distance. Flesh chains coiled loose around his arms, ready. The vines swayed gentle around him, almost whispering.

  A shadow moved.

Leo appeared—beast contract fused, bat-wings folded tight against her back, claws dripping faint black. Her eyes glowed yellow, mouth curled in a hungry smile.

  Abel froze. “Leo…”

“Don’t worry,” she said, voice soft, almost sweet. “Be quiet. It won’t hurt.”

It didn’t look like she moved.

  One second, Abel was standing.

  The next—his head fell off.

Clean slice, no blood at first. Body stood a second longer, confused.

Then his chest split open—diagonal cut, ribs cracking like dry wood.

His heart tumbled out—still beating once, twice—rolling onto the mushy ground.

Leo caught it mid-roll. Claws gentle around the pulsing muscle.

She brought it to her mouth. Bit down.

Chewed slow, blood dripping down her chin, eyes half-closed like savoring a meal.

“The heart…” she murmured between bites. “The Vessel… it’s nearby. The energy.”

She swallowed the last chunk, licked her lips clean.

  Then rift-stepped away—gone in a black tear.

We cut to a dark room—deep in the fleshy fortress, veins on the walls glowing faint red.

Jaylee walked in, door creaking behind her. The room was dim, lit by pulsing pink light from a crack in the ceiling. Reiji sat on the edge of a makeshift bed—flesh-mattress that breathed slow—coat off, shirt unbuttoned halfway, crimson energy flickering faint at his fingertips like embers.

She didn’t say a word. Just crossed the room, hips swaying, threads trailing invisible from her fingers. Reiji looked up, eyes narrowing, but he didn’t stop her.

Jaylee pushed him back onto the bed, straddling his waist. Her hands ran down his chest, nails scratching light trails that healed instant from his energy. She leaned in, lips brushing his ear. “We’ve got time.”

Reiji grabbed her hips, grip tight. “Not much.”

  She smiled—sadistic, teasing. “Enough.”

Her top came off first—slow, deliberate, threads unweaving it like spider silk dissolving. Reiji’s hands explored, rough, tracing her skin, her curves, pulling her closer. She arched into it, gasping soft as his mouth found her neck, biting just hard enough to draw blood. The taste sparked his crimson—energy flaring, making her shiver.

Jaylee’s threads wrapped loose around his wrists, pinning them above his head—not tight, just playful. She ground down, feeling him harden beneath her. Pants unzipped, pushed down. Her own followed—threads helping, slithering off like living things.

She took him in hand first—stroking slow, watching his face twist. Then lowered herself, inch by inch, gasping as he filled her. They moved together—slow at first, building rhythm. Her hips rolled, his thrust up to meet her. Sweat slicked their skin, breaths mixing hot and heavy. He grabbed her breasts, thumbs circling nipples, making her moan louder. She rode harder, threads tightening around his wrists for leverage, pulling herself down deeper.

Reiji flipped her suddenly—on her back now, him on top. Thrusts harder, faster, pinning her with his weight. She wrapped legs around him, nails raking his back, drawing blood that healed red. The room pulsed with their rhythm—flesh walls thumping like a heart.

She came first—body arching, cry echoing. He followed soon after, groaning deep, spilling inside her.

They lay tangled a minute, breaths slowing.

Then Jaylee slid down—slow, teasing. Took him in her mouth. Cleaned him first, tongue slow and deliberate. Then deeper, head bobbing, hands helping. He hardened again fast, gripping her hair. She worked him—sucking, licking, taking him deep until her nose brushed his stomach. He thrust up, but she controlled the pace—slow, torturous.

  He tensed—close.

She stopped. Pulled back just before he nutted, leaving him throbbing, frustrated.

Jaylee wiped her mouth, grinning. “Not yet.”

  Reiji growled. “Tease.”

They dressed quick—clothes back on, threads weaving seams shut.

Reiji buttoned his shirt. “Really? We did it during this?”

Jaylee shrugged, sword at her hip. “What? End of the world’s more fun this way.”

We cut to Jane and Yuka.

The Upper World path was a vein-ridge, sticky under Jane’s boots—Sky’s boots, really, but not anymore. Jane walked casual, knife twirling in his fingers, blood from the bite wound already healed black. Demons scattered at his approach, devils fleeing into cracks.

Yuka waited ahead—leaning against a vine-tree, smile calm, coat immaculate.

  Jane stopped ten feet away.

Yuka tilted his head. “Hmm. Kid?”

Jane grinned—wide, wrong. “Oh yeah. Definitely.”

Yuka’s eyes narrowed just a fraction.

  “Jane?”

  The chapter ended.
