I-I couldn’t believe it! In all my years in my devotion for the goddess of Purity Astrea I never had seen such audacity!
The idea of a violent monster being in charge of humans is unheard of! When I learned of the rumors, we just had to investigate! There was no way we could let those innocent people suffer by their tyranny if it were true!
When we made it to the rumored town, I was appalled to find that it was true! Seeing all types of monsters walking about this street was too much to take in. But what was so confusing was the fact that my fellow men were walking along with them as if they were just as much a citizen as they were.
What was even more confusing was when we learned that they accepted a monster as their ruler. There was no way it was true; they must have forced them somehow! What was even more baffling was the fact that the monster that was in charge was a simple red kobold. Aren’t they supposed to be extremely weak?
I wouldn’t have believed it myself but there was no denying that the powerful Minotaur listened to it. Why I have yet to figure out, but this could be dangerous. That little kobold could be dangerous.
I had to do something, that was the thought that was swirling in my head. I was ready to rain our goddess’ judgement down on these creatures, but the bishop stopped me. He wanted an explanation from the villagers on why they willingly submitted to the kobold. They had various degrees of respect for the tiny lizard. What did it do to gather such admiration?
Unfortunately, that just means we couldn’t do anything about it. Not if we wished to maintain our faith to goddess Astrea. ARRGGG!! But that little creature irritates me so much! It was even mocking me with that bow I just know it!! And that ridiculous laugh! Everything about that kobold just annoys me so much!
Even more, the bishop wished to appoint me to this village to watch over this red maniac! I wanted to object to that so much but to my surprise the kobold made a compelling argument.
Fine, if it helps me to keep an eye on this monster. I might even find out what compels these people to follow such a small creature. As the Priestess of goddess of purity, it is my sworn duty to help these people if I find it was doing anything wrong here.
What the inferno is going on here?! How can such a weak creature possess such power that I never heard of!? The ability to freely manipulate and reconstruct the world itself, I had heard of magic that allows one to conjure their own like firing fireballs and such but nothing like this! And to do so with creating a house with such ease, this kobold is a lot more dangerous than I thought.
Unfortunately, as it is a respected leader to the citizens I couldn’t dare cause unnecessary trouble without clear ill intent. When I took a look inside, I was surprised to see how well put together it was. Granted even I could tell that an amateur had made it with such simple designs in place. It doesn’t seem to matter much with how well they stay in place, I couldn’t find any cracks or splinters in the walls or floor. It was all so smooth, I would have thought it was something other than wood if I hadn’t witnessed it myself.
But what really surprised me was that a simple Kobold even understood basic housing. If my memory is correct. Kobolds typically live in the far reaches of caverns, living at the most hidden cracks to avoid the stronger creatures.
…. Vladimir was it…. It’s obvious that it’s no ordinary kobold…. It’s not as weak as most are depicted, nor does it show the same fear as them. Rather, the look on its eyes makes it seem that it is rather thrilled by the possible dangers it faces. More so, it commands enough charm to even persuade a Minotaur to obey it despite its obvious strength over it as well as all these other monsters.

I’ll have to get in contact with my goddess as soon as I am able to and ask for her guidance. For now, I should play my part and keep watch over this Vladimir a bit more.
Goddess protect me….
Of all this time, I had never bothered to ask the Kobold what its actual goals were. I mean it must have some reason for ruling over this town and conquering the Mivtic kingdom. I remember hearing the rumors about that growing kingdom and the state of its citizens.
I wished we could have come sooner to help them, but it wasn’t the only kingdom in these war-torn lands that required our attention. And because of that we allowed the monsters to handle it instead.
Now I just want to know what that Kobold plans to do with it now that it has control over it. But when I asked, I was shocked over its answer.
“I want to conquer this entire world, that’s all. Veehahahahaha~” it said with such a despicable laugh.
I was mortified, letting out my confusion through my lips. This was such a blasphemous statement it was making, without thinking I angrily grabbed my golden staff and quickly gathered my faith into a concentrated blast of light. The intensity of my goddess’ radiance would incinerate the lizard!
But just as the built-up light blasted at him, it had already disappeared. There was nothing here but an empty hole. Where did it go!?
As if to answer my question, a red blur appeared on the ground in front of me as land suddenly moved and slammed my staff out of my hands. I had little time to react as my staff flung to the ground.
Before I could run to grab it, I was suddenly stopped by a wall of stone. The little creature is faster than I thought. Now that I attacked first, I had to wonder what it was going to do now.
“Now don’t go making that kind of face. I won’t do anything for now since you are a guest in my domain after all.” It told me with an irritable smug tone.
It grabbed my staff and took a minute to admire its design. “Hmm I see. At first glance I would assume that it was made simply of pure gold with jewelry to give it a nice aesthetic. But now I can see a thin layer of silver inside, and the water used to cool it was holy water”
It continued with a fascinated look on its face. “What is most surprising is that it provides little in manipulating mana. So how are you able to produce such concentrated light out of it? Maybe it requires more than mana to use that people of faith utilize. My guess would be faith itself. ~”
Damn, how much did it managed to learn just from eyeing my staff!
Before I could respond it suddenly threw the staff back at me. This confused me while I quickly took it back in my hands. Why would it give it back to me after I just attacked it moments ago?
Arg doesn’t matter! I need to stop it before he causes problems to everyone-
“I did say you are a guest here, so I rather not get violent since it isn’t necessary. Besides, weren’t you here to observe and watch for any ‘heinous’ acts I might commit?” He told me.
The nerve of this kobold. “You just said you were planning to conquer this entire world! How is that not a heinous act!!” I countered back, getting myself to prepare another blast of hoy light to its face.
“Then why don’t you try to stop all the multiple kingdoms in these lands from doing same thing? Or what, does this empire of mine more worrisome cause some monster is in charge instead? Are only humans allowed such privilege?”
I froze, the light charging in my staff dying down… damn it, it makes a good point. The way it blatantly told me to my face about its plans for world domination must mean its citizens already know it as well.
Not like I ever liked the idea of the kingdoms being at constant war over each other just to conquer each other. But the church is in no place to judge such actions. Our only goal is to spread our faith for the goddess Astrea and to support the people.
“Fine, I’ll continue with the original plan of monitoring you. But the second I find out you are abusing your citizens…”
He interrupted me again, limply waving its claws at me. “Yes yes, do what you must. Now have you decided on what furnit-”
The kobold suddenly stopped, looking lost in thought before it spoke. “Never mind, seems I’m needed back in the Mivtic kingdom.”
It then closed its eyes for a few seconds before he continued. “Some of my wolves will be here to escort us there. Or will you have a problem riding on one?”
I shook my head, noticing the seriousness of its tone. This must be important, and I still need to keep a watch on what it will do.
