Chapter 86: Amity Express II

The next day passed in a blink, with me losing dinner because I overslept. I was forced to do some chores around the castle and even train with the goblins on the training ground… I got my ass handed to me over there. The goblins might be physically weaker than me, but they compensate by having numbers and being agile.

The food they served was on another level. It was tastier than everything I had tasted up until now, including Earth’s cuisine. The only problem that arose from that was that, apparently, the food was too high-level for me, so I literally ended up in a food coma. Something about high-level ingredients having that much more nutrients than low-level ones.

When I woke up, a week had passed. The first thing I noticed was that I was in a different room, with slightly different decorations, then I tried to get out of the bed, only to fall on my face onto the ground, my body coming in a second later, crashing onto my own head. And then I felt my own tail falling onto the side, the cherry on top of the humiliating situation.

After I untangled myself, I noticed straight away that my body was way bigger than before. If before I was around 2 meters in height and around 6 in length, I was now 5 meters in height and… A lot longer than 6 meters.

I looked at my tail, it was long enough to make a perfect circle and still reach the base of my neck, and it was thicker as well. My own neck was longer than before, lying on the ground, and using only my neck to measure, I was just a bit taller than before on that alone.

When I looked at the bed I was in, I was impressed. Forget king-sized beds, this one was an emperor-sized bed. It was raised around three meters off the ground by a massive black wooden frame that seemed to glow in my [Magicule Detection]. The mattress was made of a slightly cyan fabric, something I hadn’t noticed on the one from the room before this one.

Touching it, I felt the incredibly soft texture under my claw, at the same time, it was resistant enough not to tear under the same claw. I really wished I could bring it with me, but I was sure that if I tried, Iridia would cut me into pieces. That was how scary Iridia was when she was angry, like the time one of the goblins broke a decorative vase by mistake. It happened so fast that not even the smell of blood reached my nose.

I felt goosebumps even remembering the scene.

Shaking my head to dismiss those thoughts, I went to the door and opened it. A goblin waiting for me just outside of it jumped in surprise before looking around, checking for someone, and looking at me. I stared at him.

While before the goblins were the size of my arms, now they were even smaller. I knew it was because I was actually bigger, but still, they seemed tiny in comparison. It was cute, in a way.

The goblin coughed once and then started speaking.

“Master Iridia tasked Gob to bring guest to Lady Amity,” he said. His voice was very similar to a blue-furred alien from a Disney movie, and also, Gob the goblin? Who would name a goblin tha-it was Amity…

I said nothing, and Gob, the goblin named Gob, began walking. I followed him, passing through corridors and spiral ramps that seemed to be in place of stairs. I was brought into a room filled with random things thrown around on the ground, more things on shelves on the walls, a large wooden table on which Amity was lying on top of, and apparently playing with something that resembled a Rubik's cube.

Iridia was to the side of the table, making hand gestures and sending the… trinkets, I think(?), flying to the shelves using strong winds that she seemed to control.

The moment Amity noticed me, she jumped out of the table, throwing the Rubik’s cube to the side, which was caught in a wind tunnel made by Iridia and placed on one of the shelves. Amity ran up to me before looking at my new height.

“Finally! I’ve been bored for ages!” She said, Iridia told her that she should do some of her work if she was so bored, but Amity forcefully ignored her, her ears twitching. “Also, you got fat.”

I let a surprised noise and felt my wings growing hot and my tail tremble slightly. “W-what?”

I looked at myself again, but I couldn’t see any signs of being fat. My body wasn’t that big if I looked at the proportions… But again, I was the only dragon I knew. Could I be fat? I had eaten that food at dinner that caused me to have a growth slumber…

“She means that you grew a lot,” Iridia glided her way to Amity’s side. “I apologize, I should’ve considered your level when telling the kitchen to prepare your meal.”

“It’s no problem,” I said, looking over at Iridia and Amity. “It’s not like I was controlling myself to be at that size.”

“Enough of that!” Amity shouted, then pucked something out of thin air. I felt the slight wobble of space as she did so, it was a crystal. “I found the coordinates!”

“Oh, so we’ll go directly there?” I asked. I could feel my anxiety growing. Even though it hadn’t been that long for the others, around a month, because of the time loops, it has been more than an entire year since I last saw them, not considering the fact that I wasn’t even human anymore.

The thought of gaining a human form crossed my mind, but I shut it down before it could grow roots. If I were to do that, I would target a serial killer or something. I would not kill a random person to give it to [Genetic Dysphoria].

But still, part of my mind considered at least showing up as my cat person form, it shouldn’t cause too many problems. But I still had my doubts. It was gnawing at the back of my mind.

“Why the long face?” Amity asked. A moment passed as I considered what to tell her, but she added. “I didn’t mean it literally. I know your snout is very long. I meant that you look sad?”

My mind froze for a moment. I looked slightly downwards, to my own snout. I didn’t even consider it, but yeah, you don’t just ask a person with a literally long face why they have it. Shaking my head, I explained my dilemma to Amity and Iridia.

“I don’t see why it would be such a problem,” Iridia commented. She took it surprisingly well, the fact that I was from another world and reincarnated in this one as a dragon. “From my point of view, you were just a pathetic human and then managed to become one of the superior beings.”

“Don’t mind her,” Amity interjected. “She only likes very few species.”

I nodded, unsure if I should agree or not.

“But anyway!” She said. “Iridia is right. A lot of the EXCEED would die for the chance of becoming a dragon through reincarnation, and I’m not even joking.”

“There is a very small, almost abysmal, chance for one to be reborn as a dragon as their soul passes through the reincarnation process,” Iridia complemented. “Although keeping their memories to cherish such a fact would be nigh impossible. And I say it because you’re the living proof that it is possible, otherwise, I would just discredit it as a statement from a madman.”

“Enough talking!” Amity half-shouted. “If we take too long, Athor will be disappointed in me. We can’t have that!”

Amity then jumped and landed on the base of my neck so fast I couldn’t even react. Before I could look at her, a magical circle appeared beneath my feet, and it was big enough to have me completely surrounded.

“Iridia, I'm counting on you!” Amity shouted, before Iridia could answer, and before I could do anything, I felt space warp around us.

The teleportation took just over a second, but during that second, I saw space bend and twist, colors I had never seen before coiled around me as I passed through a tunnel in the fabric of reality.

The next moment, we were in the middle of a town square. The first building I saw, I recognized as a portal plaza. I heard screams and shouts all around me. When I looked over, I saw people from different species running away from us and around five guards rushing over with swords and shields drawn.

I sighed. I should’ve expected this would happen. I should have transformed, but Amity was faster than me, and now we had barely arrived and were already causing a commotion.

The guards surrounded us, talking about who we were, and how did we managed to get a wyvern inside the city… Oh, they were talking to Amity, who was still seated on the base of my neck.

I turned my head and looked at her. She had a smug grin on her face as she made herself comfortable between my scales and the temporal energy mane I had, which surprisingly didn’t seem to affect her, or other things now that I thought about it, different from my blood. Huh.

“It’s not a wyvern!” I heard one of the guards shout. When I looked over at them, I saw what looked like a lizard man, but bulkier. There was something about him that I couldn’t quite place. I wasn’t sure if it was the magical presence or the smell.

“It’s a dragon!” They said, eyes wide.

“Are you certain, Garos?” one of the other guards asked him. Looking at the guards caused the ones I made eye contact with to flinch a bit.

“I am a dragonborn, for gods’ sake!” The first guard, Garos, shouted. “I can feel it in my blood.”

“Oh, interesting. It’s been a while since I saw a dragonborn!” Amity, who appeared to have returned to reality, said.

She jumped off my neck and landed in front of Garos, who swung his sword in response. I thought Amity would send him flying, like she did with Henry’s guard on my first time loop.

Fortunately, for the guard, Amity did nothing, and the sword hit her and stopped, doing absolutely no damage whatsoever. All the guards widened their eyes in surprise, with the most surprised being Garos, because even though his sword was touching Amity’s cheek it wasn’t showing even a slight indentation on her skin. And then Amity poked his short snout and face.

I just looked incredulously at her and her complete disregard for personal space.

I took the moment to look at one of the other guards.

“Excuse me,” I said. The guard was a bit surprised by the interaction, but seemed to get over it just as quickly. “Is this the city where the Church of Space is located?”

  “Huh? Y-yes,” he stuttered.

“Could you show us the way? As you can clearly see, we aren’t from here.” I asked him.

The guard made a confused sound, not knowing what to think about the situation they were in. Amity was still touching the dragonborn, even though he was asking her to stop.

“Or do you prefer we go around looking for it ourselves?” I pressed him, which seemed to do the trick.

“N-no. I-I’ll show you the way.” He agreed, probably thinking it would be better if we weren’t going around and causing panic to the populace. “C-could you ask your friend to stop poking Garos?”

I looked at Amity and asked her to stop, but she didn’t listen. I turned back to the guard. “Sorry, she seems lost in her own world. I can’t stop her even if I wanted to, you saw the sword.”

“I-I see,” he slowly nodded. Then gestured for Garos to follow him and asked me to follow him as well, while sending some side glances to the other guards, some form of signal because they nodded and left.

As we walked, I could feel my heart beating faster and faster with anticipation. One of the only objectives I had in this life until now would be over soon, then the only thing that would remain would be discovering how to get back home.
