Chapter 17 Release the Kraken!

The squid-like creature stuck within the whirlpool was twitching, its mountain-like appendages seized by the electricity. However, the attack wasn't enough to kill it, just to slightly hinder its movements and make it sufficiently angry.

And in its anger-clouded mind, it apparently decided that to get out of this predicament, the only possible way was to attack the source of the problem.

Deciding to ignore the pain the lightning bolts were causing, the creature struggled with all its might to reach the ocean's surface.

However, that was its greatest mistake, since as soon as Nicholas saw what it was attempting to do, his strategic mind immediately formed a counterstrategy.

He carefully calculated how long it would take the gigantic squid to reach the surface and mentally browsed his vast repertoire of spells for a magic that could truly hurt it.

Given that the creature was gigantic and not particularly quick, it was thus an easy target, so Nick chose one of his slower wind spells that sacrificed its speed and, in exchange, had an exceptional cutting quality.

He immediately sacrificed a harpy's feather before chanting

?νεμε, ξ?φο? γ?νου κα? τ?με τ?ν ??ρα." "Wind, become a blade and cut through the air." After he said this, he immediately sacrificed another feather before continuing the chant.

"?κον?σθητι ?? θ?ελλα κα? σφαγ?τω τ? ?μπ?διον." "Sharpen yourself like a storm and strike down the obstacle." Again, another feather was sacrificed before the final chant.

"? πνο? σου ?στω κοπτερωτ?ρα το? ο?ραν?ου σιδ?ρου." "Let your breath be sharper than celestial iron." As soon as the last syllable left his mouth, gigantic blades formed of the air itself manifested, their aura revealing a sharpness that caused the very eyes to sting just from looking at them.

They were perfectly timed to strike the creature as soon as it surfaced, its mountainous head being split in half, causing it to immediately dissolve into sparks of golden light.

All that was left of it was its gigantic beak; however, it wasn't until Nick got close enough to observe the beak that he had the time to truly appreciate its scale.

Its beak alone was 50 meters tall; it was a truly impressive view, but nonetheless, this fact caused an issue for Nick.

Given that all he had on him was his backpack, which was only expanded to 3 square meters in size as it was made in view of longevity and not for holding a house-sized object.

But it was relatively easily handled as he only needed to deliver it to Cerci and not keep it forever. So, all he did was sacrifice yet another Harpy feather before re-enchanting the backpack and thus expanding it to the size needed to hold the beak.

The enchantment would last 3 days as it used a harpy's feather as fuel.

"This should last me long enough to find Cerci," Nick thought, already continuing on his journey.

At the end, it took Nicholas only 10 more hours and 3 harpy feathers to reach British shores. Once he did so, he immediately cast the strongest Harpy-enhanced cloaking spell he could.

He couldn't risk the possibility that any Gods detected him, given that Britain was almost certainly the current center of the West and thus the place they were all congregating.

Once that was done, he didn't want to stay around Britain any more than what was strictly necessary, so he didn't linger at any one place and went as fast as he could towards France.

Luckily, fate was on his side this time, and he didn't encounter any other nuisance on his way to the English Channel, so he made the trip in record time.

Once he arrived there, he started a carpet search using his prescience for any interference that matched the interference pattern and feeling of the interference caused by his own cloaking spell.

Using this method, it took him barely any time at all to find several such islands; however, now that he did, Nicholas had an issue identifying which one of the cloaked islands was what he was looking for.

After all, he didn't want to accidentally end up trapped for the rest of eternity on an island with Calypso.

So, to verify which island it was, he went ahead and got as close as possible to the islands without actually going in and used his now more effective prescience in conjunction with a sacrifice of a harpy's feather to try to probe into the wards.

And through this method, he did indeed successfully locate Cerci's Island. Unfortunately, Circe also detected his intrusion into her protection enchantments.

"ATHENA! WHAT HAVE I SAID ABOUT YOU POKING AROUND MY BUSINESS??? I HAVE ALREADY CONFINED MYSELF TO THIS GODFORSAKEN ISLAND. WHY CAN YOU PARASITES NOT LEAVE ME ALONE!" A loud voice boomed from the island, causing the clouds to part and for the island and the sea around it to shake.

"Oh shit, I didn't think she was going to be this powerful," Nick thought before seeing through his 6th sense the perpetual mist around the island dissipating and a breathtakingly beautiful woman in a Greek tunic appearing on its shores, her face frozen in a furious expression.
