As the Grey Hound's body hit the ground, Zhen finally relaxed and sat on the ground to catch his breath. It was an intense battle.
“We shouldn't continue on any deeper, let's head back to the outskirts of the Hounds' territory.” After collecting the Ki, Zhen told the rest of them.
They were deep into the Grey Hounds' territory. Otherwise, they wouldn't have come across a Grey Hound with the [Iron Body] talent.
While Grey Hounds like to live alone, they have a fixed territory which they hardly leave. The centre of the territory is occupied by the most powerful Elite Grey Hounds.
While the middle region of the territory is full of Grey Hounds whose combat power is the strongest amongst all others.
Only the Grey Hounds in the outer regions of the territory are easy to hunt.
After carefully hiding the carcass of the Grey Hound they headed back to the outer region of the Grey Hounds' territory to look for their next hunt.
Half an hour later, they saw two Grey Hounds fighting each other.
“Lucky,” Kenji and the others were happy with the fight and hid behind trees to fish.
It wasn't long before a Grey Hound emerged victorious, Zhen and Anon rushed at it, not giving it any chance to heal itself.
Unfortunately for the Grey Hound, its [Wild Power] had already run out and it wouldn't be able to do much against the attacking humans.
Thus, it deserted its chance to level up and made a run for it.
As luck would have it, the direction it ran toward was the same place where Kenji and Joon were waiting for Zhen's signal.
Seeing the Grey Hound coming his way, Kenji didn't immediately take action. Instead, he waited for it to get close enough before emerging from behind the tree and launching a [Ki Blade] in its direction.
As the [Ki Blade] broke away from the dagger, Kenji used [Flash] to get away.
Stolen story; please report.
Nothing out of the ordinary happened, and the Grey Hound died as the [Ki Blade] went through its body.
“Kenji, collect the Ki. Joon, scan the surrounding area for anything valuable, and Anon, you collect the Ki from that one.” After the Grey Hound died, it wasn't long before Zhen's commanding voice echoed.
[Ki: 722→732]
After his reserves increased, Kenji silently started recovering his lost Ki. Meanwhile, Joon went looking for a treasure chest or a valuable herb.
This is what every hunting party or team does after hunting monsters in unfamiliar areas.
“No chest, but I got a few herbs. Don't know what their grades are.” Around a quarter of an hour later, Joon returned with four herbs in his arms.
“4… Let each take one.” The moment Zhen's eye landed on one of the herbs in Joon's hand, his eyes lit up. Quickly hiding the excitement, Zhen asked everyone to choose a herb.
“Can't we… just sell them… and divide the… money?” Coming over, Kenji saw the herbs, but he had no idea what they were worth, so he asked.
“I don't have time for this bullshit, just choose a herb.” Pretending to be angry, Zhen picked the herb he had his eyes on and went looking for their next target.
As Zhen left, Anon and Joon just chose the herb that was most pleasing to the eye and then both of them started working on hiding the Grey Hounds' carcasses.
Most monsters don't enter other monsters' territory, but flying monsters are a completely different story.
The moment they see a dead monster on the ground and no human in sight, they would dive down and in seconds fly away with the corpse.
“Got one!” Just as Joon and Anon finished hiding the carcasses, Zhen returned. Soon, everyone followed Zhen to the location of the next Grey Hound.
“Stop here, if we get any closer we might get noticed. Anon, you will lead one of the Grey Hounds to Kenji, which he will kill using his skill, and Joon will provide you both backup. I will distract the other one in the meantime.”
Hiding from the Grey Hound pair, Zhen formulated a plan of action.
“Kenji, success depends on you. If you miss, we will be in serious trouble.” Reminding Kenji of his important role, Zhen paused for a second before continuing, “However, if Kenji does miss, don't try to fight, just run away.”
“Okay.”
“On it.”
Staying with Zhen so long, Joon and Anon had learned not to question his decisions. Kenji had some doubts, but with his newly forged Bronze body, he wasn't too worried.
“Die, monster!” Taking Anon with him, Zhen ran toward the Grey Hound pair while screaming.
The Grey Hounds, whose beautiful moment was interrupted, got angry and decided to rip the humans to shreds.
Both activated their [Wild Power] and headed for the humans.
The moment the aura of [Wild Power] emitted from the Grey Hounds, Anon's heart tightened. Even while providing Zhen backup, his life was always hanging by a thread.
Now a Grey Hound covered in [Wild Power] was heading his way, and Zhen wasn’t there to help him. How could he not panic?
With his heart about to jump out of his chest at any moment, Anon rushed toward Kenji.
Seeing that the human was scared away by his might, the Grey Hound felt proud and continued to chase the human playfully.
While running away, Anon felt something was amiss. The Grey Hound that should have caught up to him by now was lagging behind.
However, Anon took this chance to use [Jump] and rush into the patch of trees.
As the human entered the dense forest, the Grey Hound got upset. How dare the prey think of getting away? So, she stopped playing around.
All of a sudden, the Grey Hound's speed increased, and she caught up to Anon.
“Kenji!” Knowing that if things went south he would die, Anon screamed while avoiding the razor-sharp claws of the Grey Hound.
After the human screamed, the Grey Hound had a bad premonition. However, seeing the human rolling on the ground, she didn't care and came forward to finish him.
But out of nowhere a dark red flash killed her before she had any chance to react.
“Huh…huh…huh, Joon, let's go.” The moment the Grey Hound died, Anon finally relaxed, and his breathing became uneven. Soon, he calmed down and took Joon with him to support Zhen.
