I hope this letter finds you well. Thank you again for agreeing to correspond with me via mail. Since the Team Rocket event, everything has pretty much returned to normal here in Pallet Town. Every day I have been doing my feeding experiments with Po, Rapunzel, and our newest friend Cha the Pidgey. Cha is also, my first flying friend who will be delivering this letter. (He really likes scratches on the back of his head.) Cha wants to become strong so he can help protect other Pokémon and help bring an end to Team Rocket, well at least that’s what Po and Rapunzel said. In just the week since you have seen them, Po & Rapunzel have already grown several centimeters taller and gained some strength. After my research work is done for the day, I have been training them to help them become stronger.
Also, I have been helping teach Gary and Daisy about Pokémon and how to care for them. Gary wants to be a Pokémon trainer someday, and Daisy wants to be a Pokémon groomer she says. I’ve been helping her train her Clefairy named Starshine on some new moves I think would really surprise you. Once my current food and diet research are over, I think I might like to try and become a trainer for a while. Professor Oak and Gary said I should try next year when the next gym cycle begins. For me though, I think I would miss getting to be with all the Pokémon here at the lab every day. Po also has been scouting additional team members I think. Every once in a while, some Pokémon will come and watch us train. Po always talks to them when they come over.

“Okay Cha, the letter is ready!” I said holding up the envelope. “Are you sure you know how to find Officer Jenny’s house?” I asked. “Pidg Pi pi” Cha resonded and took off headed towards Viridian City. “I hope I don’t seem like a creep sending her a letter after only a week” I said quietly. A couple hours later Cha came back with a note from Officer Jenny.
- I’ll have a letter for Cha to bring you tomorrow, so please send him back after breakfast time.

“Oh, she responded as Jenny, not Officer Jenny” I said to myself. (Well that might be a good sign) I thought. I took Cha over to where Rapunzel and Po were laying in the grass and gave him some mealworms as a thank you for delivering the letter. “All right team, break time is over. Let’s do some practice!” I said pumping my fist. Cha was actually the most excited and flew to my shoulder showing he was ready to go. “Okay Cha, I want you to work on your Wing Attack first. Remember, the trick is to move the flying energy you use from Gust specifically to just your wings and make it as sharp as you can” I told him. Cha was a very smart bird and could already use 4 moves even though he was pretty young.

“Po I want you to keep training with Rapunzel on how to use Grass Energy. I think if you could use Power Whip it would help you battle more difficult Pokémon you would normally struggle with” I said to Po pointing him to Rapunzel. Po could use all the moves he should be able to, but I wanted to make him more versatile.

“Rapunzel, I have two options for you right now. Either you work on your powder moves and seeing what different kinds of powder you can use, or we start working on Ancient Power to help you evolve” I said to her. “Tang Tang” Rapunzel said and started meditating reaching out her tentacles into the dirt around her. She was very determined to evolve, and I wouldn’t be suprised if she was close.

“Good work boys and girl! You guys are working so hard, and it makes me so proud as your friend and trainer” I told them as I watched. While they were working on their moves, I was stretching and getting ready to a workout myself. If I am really going to go on a journey with these Pokémon, I need to be strong enough to keep up with them. Right as we were all wrapping up, Cha started glowing and the flew forward and his wings started to glow extra bright. The sound was that of a blade cutting through the air. When his wing made contact with the tree he was flying at, we all heard *schwing* and watched as several large branches fell off the tree. “Cha you absolute legend!!!” I said as I ran over to him. “Lick Lick!” “Tang Tang!” Po and Rapunzel cheered for him as he landed on the ground. I lifted him and scratched his favorite spot on the back of his head and he coo’ed happily.
Once we were all cleaned up and had eaten our post workout snacks, I headed inside to write my documentation for the day about the growth of each and every Pokémon who was part of the diet research. Professor Oak was reading my current findings when I went to grab them. “Everything okay Professor?” I asked as I walked over with Cha resting on my head. “These results are astounding!” Professor Oak said. “One week of a new diet and already seeing physical growth and improved features. Your Pokémon have shown the most growth I have personally ever seen! Cha alone would be enough proof it is working in my mind” he said pointing to Cha on my head. “Thank you Professor! I hope that by the end of the year we will have enough evidence across multiple species to be able to prove that natural food diets have the greatest impact to growth and base health” I said with a smile. “Hopefully when the results are published, people will finally stop using just the dry food all the time. It should be okay in small amounts, but it can’t substitute what a natural diet can” I said as I began writing today’s measurements and notes.
Later that night, I was sitting in the lab when the Professor’s lab phone started ringing. Luckily, I had learned how to answer it during the past week. “Hello, this is Professor Oak’s lab” I said as I answered. “Hello, you must be Austin, you are just the person I wanted to talk to” said Nurse Joy on the screen. “Ah, you must be The Nurse Joy of Viridian City then!” I said back to her. “Yes, thank you for taking my call. I wanted to talk to you about that Onix and Ekans you told Officer Jenny about” she told me with a worried look. “Yes, I asked Officer Jenny to pass along my recommendations. How are the two Pokémon doing?” I asked her hoping for a positive answer. “Ekans is doing better, but he can’t go back to the wild. He is going to need a trainer. Onix, no matter how much mineral and soil he eats is looking for something specific and keeps digging every chance he gets” Nurse Joy said looking very distraught now. “Nurse Joy, is there anyway I could come to Viridian City tomorrow and check on the two them? Ekans I would be more than happy to take if it needs a trainer, and Onix, well all I have is a hunch, but I think I know what’s going on” I said feeling confident. “Absolutely, we’ll see you tomorrow then!” Nurse Joy said finally smiling again.
“Maybe I’ll visit Jenny tomorrow in person if she’s available too” I said quietly.
